The Netherlands: A new form of the moon landing in Eurovision 2024?

Gover Meit thinks that the viewers of the Eurovision Song Contest next month will see something that has never been seen before during the event when it is the turn of the Netherlands to appear on stage. “It will be a new form of the moon landing. It has never been done before,” said the theater maker, who is coming to Malmö as creative director.

People are not going to believe that this is physically possible,” he continued, without going into details about Joost Klein‘s act. Meit, who is known to the general public as Stefano Keizers, is a good friend of Joost and can also be seen in Europapa’s video clip. He probably won’t be on stage himself. Meit says he is needed ‘behind the scenes’.

Joost Klein has also previously said that something awaits the Eurovision Song Contest that ‘has never happened before’.

In any case, the bookmakers have high expectations of the Dutch Eurovision Song Contest entry. On Saturday Klein rose from four to three and now only has Croatia and Switzerland in front of him at the betting offices.

Eurovision 2024: Technical Rehearsals are underway at the Malmö Arena!

The technical rehearsals for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 have begun since April 18 at the Malmö Arena in Sweden.

It has been revealed by a few snippets from crew members on social media that there will be cubic platforms with lights, that spin and change positions according to each performance.

The stage seems to be built on video tecnhology, that encloses the floors, walls and ceiling, mixed with lighting and automation.

Another video reveals the amount  of camera angles during the dutch performace and the speed that they are changing.

The camera operators seem to use CuePilot, a Danish software that usually is used in proffesional and expensive productions. The software is an automation system that allows the television maker to foresee the upcoming shots and rearrange the camera moves and angles.

Swedish broadcaster and organiser of this year’s Eurovision SVT is going to work daily at the Arena to make sure that everything will be ready for the stand-in rehearsals, that are expected later this week.

We remind you that the first rehearsals with the artists are scheduled on Saturday, April 27.

Eurovision 2024

Loreen won the 67th Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Tattoo” in behalf of Sweden, making her the first woman that has won the contest twice.

Overall Sweden has succeeded seven Eurovision victories (in 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023). This makes Sweden the joint most successful country in ESC alongside Ireland. Malmö will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, which is the third time, following hosts in 1992 and 2013.

Today, Friday April the 19th, SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster, has announced who will be involved in the Swedish commentary of the three shows of the contest, on a press release.

When the Eurovision Song Contest is held for the 68th time, viewers in Sweden will be guided by Tina Mehrafzoon and Edward af Sillén.

This is the thirteenth year that the experienced and knowledgeable Edward af Sillén takes place in Eurovision’s commentary booth. For the music journalist and media profile Tina Mehrafzoon, who during the spring had a commentating expert role during the Melodifestivalen, it is the premiere.

Tina Mehrafzoon expresses:

“To be able to do this together with Edward is an honour and a dream come true. The fact that Sweden is the host country makes it all the more special. I know which professionals make the show so my job will be very pleasurable and easy!”

This host year, Edward af Sillén is also involved as a director and screenwriter. The whole spring is filled with intense work, but Edward is very much looking forward to the assignment as a commentator.

“It feels both honorable and very fun. The viewers will be in safe and warm hands with Tina in the driver’s seat, while I will split my time between being backstage and working with the presenters and being by Tina’s side as much as possible during the shows. It’s going to be really exciting,”
