The national broadcaster of Austria, ORF, is expected to announce in December the artist who will represent the central-european country in the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden.

ORF’s scout Eberhard Forcher posted yesterday the below comment:

“The day before yesterday was the deadline for submissions to the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. WOW ! Unbelievable, how many great songs have come in the last few weeks. Over 60 ! Most of them are still active scouting . Peter Schreiber and my smallness have been on broadband since June probing & motivating . . . . Now the editors will invite the 15 (?) best acts to the ORF Zemntrum for video casting. The clips will then be released to the juries and the ORF will announce its choice in December at the latest. The idea of the planned public voting cannot be implemented this year for legal reasons. So much for that !”

This year Austria was represented in Liverpool by Teya and Salena with the song “Who the Hell Is Edgar?”. They qualified from the 2nd place of the Second Semi-Final, and finished in 15ht place of the Grand Final with 120 points.

Luxembourg: Submission window closes with 459 songs for Eurovision 2024!

One of the most important events of the year, is undoubtedly the return of Luxembourg to the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, after 30 years of abscence!

The country’s public broadcaster, RTL, has announced that both artist and song will be selected through a national final, which is set to take place on January 27. Back in July, RTL had commenced the live auditions of artists who are interested in participating in the national final, without having a song in their possession.

The application platform was then opened for artists who already have a song or composers who wanted to submit their songs, which was open until yesterday, October 1 at midnight.

A while ago RTL announced the number of applications it received and it is more than impressive. In detail, the broadcaster received 459 song applications for the national final! RTL thanked everyone who submitted their suggestions and emphasized that the songs amount to around 23 hours of music.

What we know so far about the Luxembourgish selection is that Josh Island submitted a song and some information on the 100 singers that took part in the auditions.

Luxembourg looks reaady for a spectacular comeback. Do not forget that it is one of the most successful countries, with five victories in its history. A title we think they want to defend!

Germany: Two new potential candidates for Das Deutsche Finale 2024!

A few days ago we posted an article (here) regarding the artists who have already expressed their intention to take part in Das Deutsche Finale 2024, the show through which Germany is going to pick their next representative at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden.

Two new names are joining the list of the potential candidates who are interested in representing Germany. The first new name is Aileen Sager, who is a personal choice of the prominent composer and songwriter Ralph Siegel. Ralph Siegel has already expressed his desire to submit an entry in the German selection process. Apart from that, it has been 50 years since his first participation in Eurovision and 42 years since his victory with Nicole who performed “Ein bißchen Frieden” and he wants to participate once again in this international contest.

Aileen Sager was a semi-finalist in the German franchise of Idol, Deutschland sucht den Superstar” and she revealed via her personal Instagram account that her music collaboration with Ralph Siegel is focused on the pop genre. However their Eurovision proposal is not finished yet and for this reason Ralph Siegel spends a lot of time at the recording studio.

The second name that may compete to represent Germany is the musical duo Tilly Electronics who want to go to Eurovision 2024 in Malmö with the song “Tanzen”. This music duo makes electronic music, comes from Leipzig and keeps its identity hidden under its black and white suits. Tilly Electronics’ application has been the subject of much debate in recent days on social media – with much encouragement, but also some potential for polarisation.

What do you think of these two potentials for Das Deutsche Finale 2024? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
