Sweden: Danny Saucedo and Dotter are the two direct finalists of the Fourth Heat of Melodifestivalen 2024!

Ninety minutes ago, the show for the Fourth Heat of Melodifestivalen 2024, started off on SVT and SVT Play. And we are here to share the results of the night with you!

The two numbers that qualify directly to the finals are Danny Saucedo and Dotter which we will get to see perform their songs live, on the 9th of March, when the finals will take place at Friends Arena.

But how things developed during the night?

The experts

New in Melodifestivalen this year is the participation of a couple of really knowledgeable music and Mello-experts – radio and TV profile Tina Mehrafzoon and Mello-oracle Ronny Larsson. During both the races and the final, they analyze the evening’s line-up and give their opinion on how they are doing.

The show

Carina Berg is the host of all the shows of the tour this year! With the next show of the contest on Saturday February the 24th, Melodifestivalen will take place in Eskilstuna, then Karlstad follows and finally the final show in Stockholm on the 9th of March.

It opens with Kent‘s song “Gravitation” performed by Björn and Oscar Gustafsson. Oscar is Björn Gustafsson‘s brother. Kent is from Eskilstuna, so it’s a nice tribute. Carina is now at the arena and everything is ready to begin! It’s time to face the music!

The numbers

  • “Done Getting Over You”– Albin Tingwall

Reminds me of Bengtsson‘s “Innocent Love” also if you mix Aha’s “Take on me“. Albin is massively improved compared to his past rehearsals. He is joined by two of the in-house dancers on stage and the LED screen shows his silhouette dancing in multiple colours. I like it but doesn’t sound special to me. At some point it sounds like two separate songs, but gets back on track. First key change of the week.

Photo:Stina Stjernkvist/SVT

  • “30 km/h”– Lia Larsson

She is much better to what I’ve seen up to now. First epadunk song I like, but still Liaseems to be just there on stage not doing much. Vocally not good, not bad. Fireworks bang hard in the small arena. Also on the LED screen we can see a human sketch that reminds me of Måns 2015 staging, just grown up. Nice staging, they’ve put a lot of work on that and it is obvious.

Photo:Stina Stjernkvist/SVT

  • “It’s Not Easy to Write a Love Song”– Dotter

I insist that even though it is a nice song, it is not what I would expect to see this year from Dotter. She starts lying on a grand piano, her moves ring a bell, her being barefoot too. Loreen 2023. The clothes she was wearing as well. Now she is wearing a different top which is black, trying not to look so much like Loreen last year. Nice song (not as nice as “Bulletproof“) and nice vocals, even though she had to be on vocal rest for the entire day today, she is suffering from a massive cold. Overall a nice song, staging, appearance.

Photo:Stina Stjernkvist/SVT

  • “Circus X”– SCARLET

“Circus X” looks nothing like we are used to in Mello. The two girls hiding their identities like skulls, sing with perfect vocals in a scary staging on a dark, pop, fun, dance song. Four dancers dressed like unidentified creepy black creatures. I could definitely see it as a theme song of a horror movie or series.

Photo:Stina Stjernkvist/SVT

  • “En sång om sommaren”– Lasse Stefanz

I will avoid commenting bad on this act. Christer Eriksson is the oldest entrant of this year’s Melodifestivalen, he is 71 years old. Dansbandmusik done the best way possible. I still don’t like it, but I have to admit that it looks good. Wild west theme here as well and I have to say I very much prefer it than the staging of Gunilla. Vocally they are great, they do what they can do best.

Photo:Stina Stjernkvist/SVT

  • “Happy That You Found Me”– Danny Saucedo

Danny had to cut down on his staging but it still looks impressive. We have seen Danny dance, joined by dancers, sing in Swedish. This year he opted for being alone on stage and we will see how this goes. He holds back on his vocals. On stage there are arches and a large tilted arch prop with stairs right in the middle, which has led strips and lights on it, moves upright then moves back and drops. LED works on the floor, smoke, sun projections and in the second chorus the projections are a bit psychedelic. I still don’t understand what the staging is for, but I like the song and I try to enjoy it. He wrote it for his newborn child.

These were the six numbers of this week, a recap follows to show the voting numbers for the contestants of the heat.

The Intervals

After Danny steps off the stage, comedian Sofia Dalén comes into her character hockey coach Börje and interrupts Carina Berg.

Then it is Hall of Fame time. The sisters MiaAckie and Clara Kempff stepped as Chattanooga cockily into Swedish pop history in 1982. Dressed in cool blazers and a nice attitude, they sang their “Hallå hela pressen” to a fourth place in the Melodifestivalen and blew in a fresh pop wind in the festival. The song became a national scourge with its apt lyrics about a lost flirtation and that the trio belongs in the Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame is a given. They are not in the dress rehearsal, we will get to see them tomorrow night.

  • “It’s Not Easy to Write a Love Song” – Dotter

I don’t understand why Carina and Björn both speak partly in English. It is fun though.

Sweden: Insight into the Melodifestivalen 2024 4th heat songs! | SVT Pre-Listening Event

Melodifestivalen 2024 second show is on the forthcoming Saturday, February the 24th, which will take place at Stiga Sports Arena, in Eskilstuna.

The Pre-listening Process

This year, we are invited to the pre-listening event that SVT holds every Tuesday at 10am CET, before each of the five heats of Melodifestivalen 2024, or as it is called “Förhandslyssningen“. Approximately 50 people, carefully selected by SVT are invited to listen the entire songs of each heat in the pre-listening events. So, we had the chance to listen to the entire running order of this week’s heat twice.

But how do the songs of this heat sound like?

    • Done Getting Over You” – Albin Tingwall

Reminds me of Bengtsson‘s “Innocent Love“. Although I like it and I find it really pleasant, it doesn’t sound special to me, it just doesn’t click. At some point it sounds like two separate songs, but gets back on track. First key change of the week.

    Photo: Janne Danielsson/SVT

    • 30 km/h” – Lia Larsson

Epadunk as Lia has gotten us used to. It is catchy, I like it more than Fröken Snusk‘s or Samir and Viktor‘s entries. I would like to see how it’s gonna get staged. Shoutout to My Söderholm, who is one of the writers of the song and that’s her first ever Mello-contribution as a writer.

    Photo: Magnus Liam Karlsson/SVT

    • It’s Not Easy to Write a Love Song” – Dotter

Bullet’s on the ground“? Is that a reference to “Bulletproof“? It is certainly not “Bulletproof” vol 2. While I like how it sounds like, it is not what I would expect. Vocals on point, love the piano part but, for me, that’s pretty much it. Certainly not a winning song. Piano mid-tempo ballad. Will most likely be a DTF, just because she is Dotter.

    Photo: Magnus Liam Karlsson/SVT

    • Circus X” – SCARLET

Dark, pop and dance is the theme of this song. Could definitely be a theme song of Wednesday, the Netflix series. I like the vibe and it sounds very exciting. Looking forward to seeing how it will be staged.

    Photo: Magnus Liam Karlsson/SVT

    • En sång om sommaren” – Lasse Stefanz

In one word: “dansbandsmusik“. Swedish country/folk song for the summer. Certainly not my cup of tea. Could be fun to listen to or watch but if it was for me, this wouldn’t qualify. Strangely enough, Swedes like it a lot. Let’s see what happens.

    Photo: Anders Norrsell/SVT

    • Happy That You Found Me” – Danny Saucedo

Keyboard intro reminds me of Guetta‘s “When Love Takes Over“. It is sth between “Amazing” and “In the Club“. Dance pop but so Swedish House Mafia like and so 2025. Totally my style. Danny is back to win the whole thing, but I need to see the staging first. If he is alone on stage, he might need support on the visuals and camera shots.

Photo: Janne Danielsson/SVT

Our thoughts

  • Albin‘s song is a nice heat-opener, but will probably not qualify.
  • Lia sings “Bilen glider fram som en dalahäst“? Is this a “Rid mig som en dalahästFröken Snusk hit reference? So catchy, will most likely stay in the competition, it is the first epadunk song that I actually enjoyed listening to.
  • Dotter‘s song sounds more than 3 mins. I definitely like it, but I don’t see it as a contender for the win. She will probably go ‘direkt till final‘, but just because she is Dotter.
  • Additionally, I think SCARLET will be the suprise of the week, their song sounds quite like two separate songs as well, maybe? It all depends on the staging, whether Swedes will vote for it or not.
  • Sorry, I love Sweden too much but En sång om sommaren is definitely not a song for me.
  • Finally, “Happy That You Found Me”, could be the winner of this year’s Melodifestivalen. But I’m afraid he could again pull a 2011 and 2012, as in placing second. My favourite of the bunch this week, in any case. Give a listen to “Don’t you worry child“, make it a bit more 2024, there you have the song.

Tomorrow morning, you will get the chance to listen to a 30 second snippet of each of the six songs.

Sweden: The lyrics of the songs competing at the fourth heat of Melodifestivalen 2024!

The upcoming heat of Melodifestivalen 2024 will take place next Saturday, February the 24th and will take place at Stiga Sports Arena in Eskilstuna.

A while ago, SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster released the lyrics of all six competing songs, of this upcoming heat.

You can read the lyrics of the competing songs down below:

  • Done Getting Over You” – Albin Tingwall

For two hundred and one days you were mine

Back and forth yeah it’s been a hell of a ride

Looking back on how it all started

I should’ve known you were stone cold hearted

No matter how I try to win I lose

Won’t you take me home

No matter what you do

I run right back to you

Won’t you take me home

If you want my love

Just tell me what to do

I’m so done getting over

Yoooooou

I’m so done getting over

Yoooooou

I’m so done

For two hundred and one days you were mine

Take me back to the days we were doin’ just fine

Now I wonder how it all started

I should’ve known you were stone cold hearted

If you tell me it’s over, what’s the use

Won’t you take me home

No matter what you do

I run right back to you

Won’t you take me home

If you want my love

Just tell me what to do

I’m so done getting over

Yoooooou

I’m so done getting over

Yoooooou

I’m so done

(Take me home)

I’m so done being broken hearted

(Take me home)

(Take me home)

I’m so done being broken hearted

(Take me home)

Oh won’t you take me home

No matter what you do

I run right back to you (run back)

Won’t you take me home

(Take me home)

If you want my love

Just tell me what to do

I’m so done getting over

Jeans och väst

Vi ska på fest

Bilen glider fram som en dalahäst

Vi pumpar bas

I våran fas

Rullar fram på gatorna med öppet tak

Chilla

Det finns ingen som får köra om

Chilla

Trots att kön är kilometer lång

Chilla

Veva ner, höj volymen och häng med

Dunk dunk dunka 30 KMH

Och vi strögar gatan utan nummerplåt

Dunk dunk dunka dunka dunka hårt

Hela hjärtat slår i 30 KMH

Dunk dunk dunka 30 KMH

Och vi strögar gatan utan nummerplåt

Dunk dunk dunka dunka dunka hårt

Hela hjärtat slår i 30 KMH

Varva upp

Tagga ner

Vi kör 30 kilometer, inte mer

Du får skjuts

Om du har lust

Bilen flyger fram som en partybuss

Chilla

  • It’s Not Easy to Write a Love Song” – Dotter

It’s not easy

to write a love song

When I can’t

leave the past behind

It’s not easy

to write you a love song

When all the words

are hard to find

Why won’t you

Throw your cigarette

Lay down in the bed

Tell me

How can we forget

About the things we’ve said

Let’s just

Put our minds to rest

Never slippin’ out of your hands

ooh

I’m falling into pieces

everytime you shoot me down

My heart is like an echo from the

bullets on the ground

I want you to

feel me every second

When I am

bleeding imperfections

It’s not easy

to write a love song

When we can’t

speak about it all

It’s not easy

to write us a love song

When all the hurting

has gone too far

Why can’t we

Dissipate our thoughts

Lay down heart to heart

Let’s just

cover us from all

the damage we have caused

We can

stay right where we are

Never let us fall

out of love

ooh

I’m falling into pieces

everytime you shoot me down

My heart is like an echo from the

bullets on the ground

I want you to

feel me every second

When I am

bleeding imperfections

Oh it’s not eas—

It’s not easy

to write you a love song

Oh it’s not eas—

It’s not easy

to write you a love song

It’s not easy

to write a love song

When I can’t

leave the past behind

I want you to

feel me every second

When I am

bleeding imperfections

Oh it’s not eas—

(It’s not easy)

It’s not easy

to write you a love song

(to write you a love song)

Oh it’s not eas—

(It’s not easy)

It’s not easy

to write you a love song

  • Circus X” – SCARLET

Better hide, it’s getting late

Something lurks beyond the gates

Once the clock strikes midnight

All the ghosts come out to play

Step right in, enjoy the show

More you see, the less you’ll know

All the clowns dance in delight

You’re act one on stage tonight

Red is dripping down the walls

Feel your skin begin to crawl

Sent a chill right down your neck

When you’re trapped in Circus —

Trapped in Circus X

Trapped in Circus X

Cuz the show has just begun

If you’re playing

You’re staying

So let’s all get trapped in Circus X

Act two is all fun and games

Think they’ll let you get away

Just before you think you’re safe

You’re lost in their mirror maze

Red is dripping down the walls

Feel your skin begin to crawl

Wish you never came at all

Cuz they’ll find you next when you’re trapped in Circus X

Trapped in Circus X

Cuz the show has just begun

If you’re playing

You’re staying

So let’s all get trapped in Circus X

La-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la-la

La-la la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la

La-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la-la

La-la la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la

Circus (X)

(La-la la-la-la la-la-la-la-la-la-la)

Circus (X)

(La-la la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la)

  • En sång om sommaren” – Lasse Stefanz

Minns du bryggan där vi satt

Långt in på lördag natt

Och nynnade en enkel melodi

Vattnet speglade intill

Varma vindar svepte fram

  • Happy That You Found Me” – Danny Saucedo

I used to think about how I get old

I used to worry about the things I owned

A picture of a picture

Doesn’t matter anymore

I never listen to that inner voice

I was too busy filling every void

That picture keeps on fading

And they can’t hurt you anymore

We’re heading for the sun

Our days have just begun

And now I’ll never let you go

I’m so happy that you found me

I’m so happy that you found me

Now heaven’s all around me

Just when I thought I was lost

I’m so happy that you found me

I was hiding in a dark place

Now heaven’s all around me

Now we’ll never be alone

I’m so happy that you found me

Oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh

I was driving down a lonely road

With artificial miracles

I thought I could walk on water

But kept sinking like a stone

We’re heading for the sun

Our days have just begun

And now I’ll never let you go

I’m so happy that you found me

I’m so happy that you found me

Now heaven’s all around me

Just when I thought I was lost

I’m so happy that you found me

I was hiding in a dark place

Now heaven’s all around me

Now we’ll never be alone

I’m so happy that you found me

Oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh

Happy that you found me

Oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh

(Oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh)

I’m so happy that you found me

(Oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh)

I’m so happy that you found me

Sweden: Last Aftonbladet reveal, a day before the official SVT announcement!

EurovisionFun is currently in Stockholm, a day before the scheduled press conference when SVT will reveal the Melodifestivalen 2024 artists, their songs and the heat allocation, while Torbjörn Ek and Stina Dahlgren, reporters at Aftonbladet work hard at the newsroom of Aftonbladet and add up a few more names in the line-up of Melodifestivalen 2024, for one last time!

We remind you that last year, Aftonbladet revealed 24 out of the 28 acts of Melodifestivalen 2023, even before SVT announced the line-up officially. Let’s dive in to what they have revealed for us, in their just-published article:

Who is Lia Larsson?

Lia Larsson, 22, is the Tiktok star from Mora who has had EPA dunk success during the year and had her music streamed almost 30 million times, with songs such as “Banka banka” and “Fara ner på byn“. According to what Aftonbladet has learned, she also takes the opportunity to celebrate her Melodifestivalen participation by releasing a new single on the same day as the press conference is held.

Who is Klaudy?

Also ready for Melodifestivalen is William Schenberg, 24, from Tolered in Gothenburg. Under the artist name Klaudy, he participated earlier this year in SVT’s music initiative “Songland” and wrote a song together with the artist Cherrie.

Who is Annika Wickihalder?

Annika Wickihalder, 22, from Örnsköldsvik has also been given a place in next year’s Melodifestivalen. In 2021, she made it to the semi-finals of TV4‘s talent show “Idol“. As Aftonbladet previously revealed, Jacqline Moss, 23, who knocked out Annika in “Idol” will also compete in Mello. Now they both get another chance to compete for viewers’ votes.

Who is Melina Borglowe?

Melina Borglowe, 26, is the singer-songwriter from Växjö who has been signed by the small record company Ten, which has previously achieved success in Melodifestivalen with artists such as Benjamin Ingrosso, Felix Sandman and Bishara. Now, according to Aftonbladet‘s sources, it’s Melina‘s turn to take place in Sweden‘s biggest TV program.

Who is Natalie Carrion?

Finally, Aftonbladet can reveal that Natalie Carrion, 27, from Umeå, will also compete. Natalie, with Caribbean and Sami roots, has several times before been close to joining Mello and competed in 2022 in the sámi Melodifestivalen Sámi Grand Prix. Earlier this year, she was a Swedish commentator when SVT broadcast this year’s edition of the same competition.

We remind you that Melodifestivalen 2024 is scheduled to take place between February 3rd to March 9th, while SVT has received 2624 songs.

Sweden: Danny Saucedo is back at Melodifestivalen, according to Aftonbladet!

Torbjörn Ek and Stina Dahlgren, reporters at Aftonbladet did it again and revealed six more participating acts for Melodifestivalen 2024! We remind you that last year, Aftonbladet revealed 24 out of the 28 acts of Melodifestivalen 2023, even before SVT announced the line-up officially.

As we are approaching December 1, when the final line-up of Melodifestivalen 2024 will be revealed, the Aftonbladet is now nearing 30 acts! Here are the three new names that Aftonbladet brought to the table:

Danny Saucedo

Danny Saucedo, 37, hopes to return to the mainstream Swedish music scene by participating in Melodifestivalen in 2024, according to several sources that Aftonbladet has been in contact with, as he hasn’t made a major success with his latest releases.

The source said he knows he’s gambling by going to Melodifestivalen, he has to have a really strong song and make sure he gets a hit, therefore, the information that reached Aftonbladet in the late autumn has swayed back and forth. Several people who work closely with Melodifestivalen‘s editorial staff have speculated about Danny‘s participation, but now he is said to have finally accepted. Saucedo is said to have collaborated together with Michel Zitron, 42, who has previously been involved in Swedish House Mafia‘s “Don’t you worry child” and “Save the world” and worked with both Avicii and Alesso. The collaboration will also be a bit of a reunion as Zitron was also behind one of Saucedo‘s very first hits, “If Only You” which was the most played song on Swedish radio in 2008.

Elisa Lindström

Aftonbladet can also reveal that Elisa Lindström, 32, is ready for Melodifestivalen 2024. Lindström, who is currently playing one of the main roles in the schlager musical “De’ e’ det här vi kallar kärlek” based on Lasse Holm‘s music, has competed twice before, but without succeeding in advancing from the competitions. Now it could be third time’s the charm.

C-Joe

According to several sources with insight into the matter, the artist C-Joe, or Charles Koroma, 31, as his real name is, will also compete in Melodifestivalen. C-Joe, who is from Gävle with roots in Sierra Leone, has attracted attention locally several times over the years and has released music since 2017. Now will be the first time he will take place in the really big arena, in front of Melodifestivalen‘s multi-million audience, according to Aftonbladet‘s informant.

We remind you that Melodifestivalen 2024 is scheduled to take place between February 3rd to March 9th, while SVT has received 2624 songs.

As you have read in one of our past articles, the final list of Melodifestivalen participants will be published on the 1st of December, at a press conference hosted by SVT at their headquarters in Stockholm.

Sweden: Controversial Fröken Snusk is reportedly ready for Melodifestivalen 2024.

Torbjörn Ek and Stina Dahlgren, reporters at Aftonbladet just reported one more artists for Melodifestivalen 2024, back-to-back after their article last night!

We remind you that last year, Aftonbladet revealed 24 out of the 28 acts of Melodifestivalen 2023, even before SVT announced the line-up officially.

It’s none other than the epadunk star Fröken Snusk who is said to be ready and is one of the very first to be informed that she had been accepted, according to a source.

Fröken Snusk has made a big name for herself in the music genre epadunk in recent years with hits such as “Rid mig som en dalahäst” och “Raggarbilar (Warra warra)“. Many people are surprised that SVT has chosen to include an artist whose lyrics are often anything but family-friendly.

In addition to lyrics that relate to sex, Fröken Snusk is also known for the pink balaclava she always wears over her face. Her real identity is therefore a secret for the time being, and she has said in previous interviews that she has no plans to take off her mask.

It has been speculated that Fröken Snusk will compete together with the artist and producer Rasmus Gozzi. The two have together achieved great success and created several hits together. According to Aftonbladet’s sources, Rasmus will not be on stage during Melodifestivalen, but let Fröken Snusk shine herself. However, he will still be involved in the entry in some way and will therefore most likely be seen behind the scenes during the competition.
