Ruslana expresses her solidarity with Israel!

In an interview with the Israeli website Euromix, Ruslana expresses her solidarity with Israel for the terrorist attack suffered by Hamas, while visibly moved she parallels the situation experienced by the Israelis with what the citizens of Ukraine experienced and continue to experience, after the Russian invasion.

I have performed many times in Israel, but I will never forget my performance at the 2005 Israeli Eurovision Song Contest (the national final), held in Jerusalem. This day had a great effect on me. I have many friends in Israel and I do my cross about the situation in Israel. I was in Tel Aviv when the Eurovision Song Contest was held there in 2019, it was an amazing time.

Keep the light in your hearts. We were also attacked and many things were destroyed for us as a result of the war. We are still dreaming, we have not lost strength. Light is power. Keep it. I love you!

Besides being the first winner of the Eurovision contest for Ukraine, Ruslana is a politician, activist and supporter of the EU and Western values and principles in her country. From the first moment she has been one of the harshest critics of Russia, while lately she has been traveling around the world to collect humanitarian aid in favor of Ukraine.

Eurovision 2023: Ruslana will be present at the 67th Song Contest!

The national broadcaster of Ukraine, UA:PBC, confirmed today that the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, Ruslana, will be present at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool.

After an Instagram post in which Ruslana questioned her exclusion from the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, the national broadcaster of Ukraine confirmed that she is going to be present in Liverpool. According to UA:PBC statement:

“The BBC together with the European Broadcasting Union are organising Eurovision 2023 in consultation with Public Broadcasting. On the initiative of Public Broadcasting, Ruslana, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, was included in the program of the competition. We know for sure that the singer and her team know about these plans, and what’s more, they have already made the necessary preparations.

For today, we can only emphasize that Ruslana will perform in a number of formats that will take place before and during the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, in particular in the final of the contest. As far as we know, the BBC intends to include Ruslana in the Eurovision 2023 final.

Ruslana’s victory in 2004 was a symbolic event for the entire country and initiated high standards of representation of Ukraine at the contest for almost 20 years , inspired subsequent participants to new victories. So, of course, Ruslana’s participation in the show held on behalf of Ukraine is important and justified.”

Through her social media accounts Ruslana expressed her surprise that she is the only Ukrainian winner not invited at Eurovision 2023, which is hosted this year by the BBC on behalf of Ukraine. The following Ukrainian artists have already been confirmed as performing or featuring in the show:
