Three singers—Sara Maria Forsberg, Saara Aalto, and Sini Sabotage—are mentioned in the initial speculations. Sara Maria Forsberg appears to fulfill the requirements. 29-year-old Sara Maria Forsberg is an actor and singer-songwriter. She rose to fame after she posted a singing video on YouTube which eventually went viral. Capitol Records then gave her a record deal. She later moved to Los Angeles in order to develop her music. Soon after, she received an invitation to play Natalya in the movie Skiptrace, where she costarred with Jackie Chan and other celebrities. Despite her lack of acting experience, people were amazed by the work she did on the set.

From January 11 to January 19, one song from UMK 2024 will be released every day. On January 10, the artists will be revealed!

Käärijä, the former UMK champion and Finland’s representative at Eurovision 2023, placed second in the Grand Final with the song “Cha cha cha”.

Finland: The rumored artists for UMK 2024!

It is true that a single photo is able to bring chaos to the Eurovision community. In fact, a leaked photo has sparked interest this weekend, just a week before the artists’ reveal for UMK 2024.

The photo, which has since gone viral, depicts a schedule for the UMK final. The document is in English, but that’s not what’s strange about it. The UMK production team has expanded to include non-Finns in recent years, putting documents in English to make them more comprehensive and accessible to non-Finnish speakers.

According to this document, Käärijä and Erika Vikman(UMK 2020) will serve as the show-openers, but the rest of the list is what has caught the attention of everyone.

Are these the competing artists in UMK 2024?

The following seven artists are mentioned in this leaked photo, along with their song titles:

  1. Mikael Gabriel & Nublu – “Serenaad”
  2. Sini Saboage – “Taivaan Valo”
  3. Sexmane – “TULTA”
  4. Windows95man & Henri Piispanen – “I Remember”
  5. Jesse Markin – “Anthem”
  6. Cyan Kicks – “Whisper”
  7. Sara Siipola – “Tupre Tunt”

What’s even more suspicious is that five of the seven nominees were mentioned in a tweet posted back in November by a journalist named Mari Pudas.

Finland: UMK 2024 will be presented by Pilvi Hämäläinen, Benjamin, and Viivi Pumpanen!

UMK 2024 will be hosted by Pilvi Hämäläinen, Benjamin, and Viivi Pumpanen, as announced by the Finnish broadcaster Yle.

Following the announcement, Pilvi Hämäläinen, a well-known figure in Finland thanks to the comedy program Putous (Comedy Combat), stated:

Over the past few years, UMK has become something truly special, and last spring’s competition got me thinking again about how cool it would be to be part of that. I decided to stop just sitting around at home and offered to be a host. Even though I have a lot of experience with live broadcasts, being a host is completely new and different to me.

Benjamin participated in the UMK last year and placed last. He returns to UMK this year, this time in the role of host.

Last year’s UMK was an unbelievable experience, and I wanted to be a part of the magic this year too. As a major Eurovision fan, being able to host the UMK is a dream come true.

Out of the three hosts, Viivi Pumpanen has the most experience. She is eager to take on this challenge since she views UMK as a world-class show.

It’s unbelievable that I can help in putting together such an amazing feel-good show for the whole family. The contest is super important for the competitors and viewers, so I can only imagine how it’s going to feel as a host that night. Of course, I’m also looking forward to working with Pilvi and Benjamin – the three of us have such an unbelievably positive vibe.

UMK 2024 will take place on February 10. On January 10 from 20:00 to 21:30 CET, a live TV show will be held to reveal the UMK 2024 participants. The program, which will be available on Yle TV1, Yle Areena, and UMK’s YouTube channel, will have commentary in English, Finnish, and Swedish.

Finland: These are the hosts of UMK 2024!

Just a while ago, Yle, the public broadcaster of Finland, revealed the hosts of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2024 (UMK), the country’s national final for Eurovision Song Contest 2024!

This year UMK will have three different hosts and as it seems it will be bigger than ever, after Käärijä’s thriumph this year in Liverpool.

The three hosts were partially revealed through an Instagram post from UMK. Their names will be revealed  in Monday, howver UMK asks us to try to guessn who are they.

The post in question, is about a photo of the three hosts but with a twist. Their faces have been distorted with the help of AI, in a way that it’s difficult to guess their real identity.

Who do you think are going to be the hosts of UMK 2024?

The previous winner of UMK and Finland’s representative in Eurovision 2023 was Käärijä with his song “Cha Cha Cha” who ended up in second place of the Grand Final, after winning the televote:

Finland: Tampere will host UMK 2024!

Tampere will be the host city for Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2024.  Finnish national final for Eurovision will go bigger.  Next year the city of Tampere will host the show on Saturday 10 February, 2024 at Nokia Arena where we will get to know who will be Käärijä’s successor.   So far Yle has received a total of 419 song submissions for the final but only seven entries will make the cut.

The Contest for New Music UMK has become a real music institution, which absolutely deserves a much bigger venue. Turku has been such an amazing UMK city for so many years – we’re very grateful for that. This year, the UMK train is heading north, and I think that Tampere and Nokia Arena are the perfect venue for a major Eurovision event. Now’s the time for a really big show and a Eurovision atmosphere that will blow the roof off! Villé Villen, Yle creative director

UMK24

UMK 2024 Grand final will take place in Tampere with the tickets going on sale on Thursday 5 October, 2023 at 8 am CET.  The announcement of the seven finalists will start on Wednesday January 10, 2024 and their songs will be released one at a time starting the next day.

According to Yle’s team for UMK this year selection was much harder since “the standards are historically high” making it more difficult to decide which acts will participate:

“It’s amazing to see how Finnish artists and songwriters, from newcomers to national favourites, are all jumping into the UMK fray. This year, we’re seeing what has to be the all-time best group of entries, which will end up being a truly sensational final seven. Among the finalists we have a talented artist’s first 90s-style dance song, a power song by a true vocal talent, perhaps the best song of an indie favourite’s career, two big name performers doing a surprising duo with a serious refrain, a thunderous rock anthem by a world-touring band, a seriously intense song from one of the most listened-to artists in Finland, and a hard-hitting club banger by a well-known artists making a comeback. This year, viewers will be getting an extremely high-energy UMK in an even bigger arena!” Tapio Hakanen, Chair of UMK jury

Finland: YLE in talks to move UMK 2024 to a bigger stadium!

The Finnish national final for the selection of the country’s participation in Eurovision, UMK, was undoubtedly one of the most successful and talked about national finals this year, both within Finland (where 2.1 million viewers tuned in) and among fans of the contest.

UMK’s success in recent years has led Finnish broadcaster YLE to decide to move the show to a bigger stadium from 2024 onwards. As Ville Vilén, Head of Creative Content at Yle, explained:

“The popularity has grown to such proportions that moving it [the final] to a larger space has become topical.”

YLE is in talks to find a stadium, the capacity of which will allow it to sell four to six times more tickets than Logomo, its current venue, which has a capacity of just 1500 spectators. YLE is therefore looking for a suitable stadium in the Turku, Tampere and Helsinki areas.

Finland will be represented in the contest this year by Käärijä, the artist who brought the country to the 3rd place in the betting odds and who has been met with huge support from fans of the contest, with the song Cha Cha Cha. You can enjoy it below:
