Finland: Participation in Eurovision 2024 in doubt?
For a while now, fans of the contest have been anxiously staring at social media, as an Instagram post from the official account of Finland’s national final, came out of nowhere, and created many rumors about a possible withdrawal of the country from Eurovision 2024!
Το be exact, the official account of Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK), the country’s national final, posted a mysterious text on a story, regarding their own participation in the contest, as well as the other Nordic countries:
“Hello! Thank you for the many messages andremarks. We’ve read every one of them and the messages have been passed on in Yle. The situation in the Middle-East is very shocking and serious, and it’s also worrying the UMK working group.
UMK organized by Yle has already grown into such a big program that will be organized anyway, regardless if Finland participates in Eurovision or not. Regarding Eurovision, Yle’s management is closely following the situation and is in discussions with EBU and other Nordic countries.”
Despite all the unexpected news, UMK is set to take place in February 10 in Tampere, with Pilvi Hämäläinen, Benjamin and Viivi Pumpanen, as hosts.

Given the continued killings of civilians in Gaza and the blocking of food and aid by Israel to the injured and displaced, Israel should not be allowed to complete . If the EBU fail to show integrity it is up to countries who are against this genocide to boycott the competion in protest .
