Eurovision 2022: Ravenna as the next Location for Postcard Filming!

The shooting of the postcards for the 66th Eurovision Song Contest 2022 is continuing, with the city of Ravenna being revealed as the next location.

RAI started shooting the postcards related to the new slogan  “The Sound of Beauty“, in beautiful and picturesque locations throughout the country. After all, it is obvious that Italy has a variety of beauty in both mountainous and coastal areas.

Ravenna is the capital city of the Province of Ravenna. The city of Ravenna was founded back during the times of the Roman Empire and so has a rich history for viewers to see.

Locations known to feature in the postcards so far include:

  • Terni & the Marmore falls in Umbria
  • Civita di Bagnoregio in Lazio
  • Perugia
  • Naples
  • Venice

The postcards appear before the start of each entry in the competition, with each country having its own video. It is traditionally used to promote the host country of that year’s competition but also to present the singer or band that is going to participate.

In 2021 the postcard displayed all the artists in a small house in a unique place in the Netherlands. The artists filmed their presence in front of a green screen and then placed it on a house that was full of objects related to them.

The Eurovision Song Contest returns to Italy this year following Måneskin’s victory at the 2021 contest with their song “Zitti e Buoni”. The 2022 contest will be hosted on 10th, 12th, and 14th May at the PalaOlimpico in Turin. The contest was last held in Italy in 1991.
