Ukraine: It is official! Despite the invasion, the country will be present in Turin!
The Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Turin from 10 to 14 May could not be unaffected by the war. Russia has already been excluded, and despite the rumors and the difficulties, the Ukrainian delegation will be there, as the Italian organizers confirmed earlier.
Ukraine, which is the big favorite to win the 66th Eurovision Song Contest according to odds, will normally be present in Turin in May, as the organizers confirmed.
The above was announced by the executive producers of Eurovision, Simona Martorelli, director of international relations for Rai, and Claudio Fasulo, deputy director of Rai1, in a press conference in the capital of Piedmont.
The Ukrainian delegation – Martorelli underlined – has confirmed its presence and so far has met all the deadlines. It is also preparing to make the backup video of the show, which is requested by all delegations in case of problems and the delegation or part of the delegation could not be presented in Turin .
Peace issues, Fasulo observed, will be at the heart of this edition of Eurovision. We have three presenters who make us proud – Laura Pausini, Alessandro Cattelan and Mika – who complement each other and bring a lot of themselves. We want to bring to the event important content that speaks of peace and is appropriate at this delicate moment.
The Kalush Orchestra will represent Ukraine at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest with their song Stefania:
