Who is Silia Kapsis?
Vasiliki (Silia) Kapsis. is already known to the readers of Eurovisionfun, since she was one of our suggestions this summer for the Greek representation in the next contest. In fact, she was the winner of our poll, with a percentage of more than 36%!
With a very rich CV despite her young age, she will be only 17 in May in Malmö, Silia Kapsis is particularly well known in Australia where she lives, as she has her own TV show on Nickelodeon Australia!
She sings and dances amazingly, and as she revealed to Eurovisionfun her big childhood dream was to be on the Eurovision stage.
Silia’s bio
Silia is a singer of Cypriot and Greek descent, born and raised in Sydney, Australia. She has been performing since the age of 4, and has had extensive training with elite artists at the top of their respective fields.
Silia has been awarded numerous accolades, including the Bobby McCloughan Creative Arts Award (130 Anniversary Award) at Claremont College, The St Vincent’s College Madame Christian Scholarship for Singing and more recently, been a recipient of the Village Nation Performing Arts College Scholarship for an all-round triple threat performer.
As a Singer.
Silia has been the lead singer for the Australian Youth Performing Arts Company (AYPAC) and recurrent lead singer at numerous high-profile events worldwide, including being the solo performer for Hollywood Star, Alex Russell at his exclusive 30th Birthday Event in Los Angeles.
Performing however, was just the beginning. Her love for music flourished into releasing her debut song, Who Am I?, which she primarily wrote and composed at the age of 12. Silia then went on to release her second song, No Boys Allowed in March 2023 with her latest song, Disco Dancer being released in May 2023. Her next single is set to be released in late 2023.
As a Dancer.
Silia has danced with world-renowned choreographers, performing in their global dance showcases in Australia and the USA, was selected for the ImmaBeast Dance Company in Los Angeles, danced with Stephen tWitch Boss on the Jennifer Hudson Show and was featured in a dance documentary produced by Taboo from the Black-Eyed Peas. Throughout her dance career, Silia has also been awarded numerous awards and scholarships including the prestigious BuildaBeast 2019 Sydney Scholarship.
As an Actor.
Silia was cast as the lead role, Zoe, in her debut short film, Pearly Gates, has worked on various television projects for Nickelodeon. More recently, Silia has been one of Nickelodeon’s regular Nick News Hosts, which saw her team get nominated for a Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Award in 2023.
She has also grown up with Greek education and visits Greece very often. Her father is the well-known Cypriot singer Giorgos Kapsis and he had an important career in singing collaborating even with Nikos Karvelas (a famous Greek songwriter and producer). Her mother is Despina (Rebecca) Saivanidis, a lawyer. She was a dancer in her younger years and has been the driving force and a huge influence in encouraging and nurturing Silia’s talent. Silia’s mother is from Thessaloniki, which Silia visits very often to see her grandparents, who live there.
A story similar to Stefania
The story of Silia Kapsis is very similar to that of Stefania, who was selected by ERT in 2020, also at the age of 17, to represent Greece in the contest.
It all started with a message to Dimitris Kontopoulos, in which she asked him to collaborate and make a song for the contest. Both of them were then introduced to the Greek audience through Eurovisionfun, which we nominated them for the Eurovision Song Contest. They also won our poll, which includes all our suggestions and involves thousands of our readers.
During the summer Silia was in Athens, in Dimitris Kontopoulos’ studio, where, as we revealed to you, she recorded a song which was about Eurovision. At that time we obviously couldn’t say more, but this song, as you can understand, is the song with which she will represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2024.
Driven by the success of Andrew Lambrou
This is the second consecutive year that RIK has entrusted the representation of Cyprus in the competition to an expatriate artist from Australia. Andrew Lambrou this year brought the country’s second best result in the contest in recent years and everyone hopes that with Silia Kapsis they will be even higher up the scoreboard.
Of course we are all excited here at Eurovisionfun too for believing in this fresh and talented girl from the very beginning. This is the third winner of our poll in the last years to go to Eurovision after Stefania and Amanda and we are 100% sure that Silia will have the same positive result.
The only exception to this tradition was last year, where Melissa Mantzoukis, although she won our poll, was ultimately second in the ERT selection, with the well-known results in Liverpool that all Greeks want to forget…

Who will be the other collaborators?
We can reasonably expect Ilias Kokotos to be actively involved with the Cypriot participation in Eurovision 2024. Now as far as the other partners are concerned, although the cypriot delegation have already made their first thoughts, will be announced in due course. The aim of all those involved, is for Cyprus to present a highly professional a performance that everyone will feel proud of and to achieve the best possible result.
This announcement officially puts an end to the whole “Fame Story” issue, which didn’t work out in the end and will not be used as a method of selecting the artist for the Eurovision Song Contest. The problems that arose were many and so RIK resorted to their usual internal selection, with an artist and a song that we are told gives them great confidence.
The journey for Silia Kapsis and Dimitris Kontopoulos is just beginning and you all know that you can only follow it in detail on Eurovisionfun!
