Netherlands: Douwe Bob has submitted two entries for Eurovision 2024!

The Netherlands has confirmed its 2024 participation and furthermore has initiated its selection process, which will be, as usual, internal. Interested artists were invited to submit their entries back in July with the submission window closing a few days ago. A record of more than 600 songs it is known to be submitted and at a later stage reviewed by a professional jury, which will select the next Dutch act.

Douwe Bob’s involvement in the selection process was first rumored in July. Now, it is confirmed that the ex-Dutch participant from 2016 is the co-writer of Numidia’s submitted song for Eurovision 2024. Numidia is a 24 years-old Dutch-Moroccan artist, who is best known for participating in The Voice of Kids, reaching the finals as well as in Best Zangers, where she was a co-participant of Douwe Bob.

Douwe Bob seems really excited about the song he co-wrote, mentioning that:

The song is in English but it also features the Berber language. The song is about connecting and looking beyond what we are taught. It’s a very connecting song. Open your eyes and we are all one, that’s the main message.

Meanwhile, it is reported that Douwe Bob has also submitted an entry himself, which indicates a possible Eurovision return as a singer. However, Douwe Bob said he would be prepared to withdraw his entry if it meant that Numidia could travel to Malmö.

Douwe Bob represented The Netherlands in Eurovision 2016 with his song “Slow Down“, finishing in the 11th place.

Australia: Is Dami Im behind “Snowfox” in The Masked Singer Australia?

“The Masked Singer” is a franchise of worldwide music reality shows. South Korea originated, the show has been aired in more than 60 countries worldwide, being a big success.

The concept comprises celebrities who perform a song anonymously while wearing extravagant masks or full-body costumes. The panelists will then try to figure out the identity based on information provided by the singers about themselves. Following their performances, the singers are voted on by the audience in each round, yet the panelists do not vote. Each round, the performer with the fewest votes is unmasked and eliminated until a winner is crowned.

The Australian version of “The Masked Singer”, during its 5 seasons run, has seen several Eurovision artists participating such as Sheldon Riley(Australia 2022) and Kate Miller-Heidke(Australia 2019).

This year, another Eurovision artist might be added to the list. Fans believe that behind “Snowfox” character is Dami Im, who represented Australia in Eurovision 2016.”Snowfox” made its appearance in episode 2 of this season, singing “Addicted To You” by Avicii, leaving the panelists speechless with its vocal range.

Along with Dami Im’s-already proven-impressive vocals, there are also some other clues indicating the singer’s identity. For example,

  • It was said that Snowfox was shown holding the Swedish flag. Indeed, Dami Im represented Australia in 2016, when the contest was hosted in Stockholm.
  • Moreover, Snowfox has two homes. In fact, Dami Im was born and raised in South Korea before moving to Australia when 9 years-old.

Who is Dami Im?

Dami Im is an Australian singer and songwriter. She was crowned as the winner of the fifth season of The X Factor Australia. More success came after, with Dami earning a number one album and several top 10 hits.

Dami has also represented Australia in Eurovision 2016 with her song “Sound Of Silence”. “Sound Of Silence” went on to win the jury vote, finishing in the second place overall, making it the highest-scoring Australian entry ever.

More specifically, after being asked whether the Eurovision chapter is over for her and whether she would return to the European Contest in the future, the young singer answered as follows:

“If you had asked me a few years ago, I would have said it was over. But now that the years have passed and I have a different perception and knowledge of the profession I would consider participating! It’s been 11 years since then! I remember some unique moments!”

While she completes by answering whether she regrets anything she has previously done in her career:

Sweden: Will Loreen return to Eurovision?

Her name has been on everyone’s lips since November 2022, when it was announced that she would once again participate in the Melodifestivalen, Sweden’s national final. Loreen had already won in 2012, with “Euphoria” becoming instantly an anthem, and one of the eurofans’ favourite songs. Many were confident that the singer would triumph again both at Melodifestivalen and Eurovision itself, and so she did. 583 points brought her to the crystal microphone, which she held up again 11 years after her first victory.

“Euphoria” and “Tattoo” put her in the Contest’s “Hall of Fame”, being the only one to win the competition twice, along with Johnny Logan, who has two wins as a singer (“What’s Another Year” and “Hold Me Now”, in 1980 and 1987) and another as a songwriter (“Why Me”, Ireland 1992). However, this is not that important to her, as she says in an interview during her concert in Spain.

“I could see smiling faces and I received a bright energy. That was my victory, not the trophy or saying ‘I won twice’. If I had won twice but failed to connect with people, I wouldn’t have enjoyed it”

Will we be seeing Loreen again at Eurovision?

She has participated twice in Eurovision, but will there be a third time? Loreen answers:

“To be honest, I don’t know. Because even up until a year ago I thought I knew and obviously I didn’t. If I had decided with my brain, I wouldn’t have experienced all these wonderful things, so I don’t know”

However, she keeps the possibility alive:

“If the opportunity came up and there were a lot of signs, you’d probably see me crying saying, ‘Oh my God, why would I do it again? Why? Why?’ Probably. But I would”

For Loreen to consider participating in Melodifestival again, the song has to be real, there has to be “truth” in it:

“There are certain songs that connect with my spirit. And the reason is that there’s a match, that they’re made to be interpreted”

“It has to be real, it has to feel right. You have to feel nothing but happiness and joy. When you feel that way in your life, regardless of whether it’s about music, then you’re in the right place”

If she does indeed participate again in Melodifestivalen and become Sweden’s representative at Eurovision, she could break another record and make history once again, as a third win would make her the representative who has won the Contest the most times.

Do you think Loreen will return to the contest attempting a third win? Would you like her to return? Let us know in the comments below!

Spain: Chanel will join Noa Kirel tomorrow at Tel Aviv!

The sold-out performance by Noa Kirel last night in Tel Aviv’s Yarakon Park was attended by an estimated 65,000 people. Noa demonstrated her incredible talent as a singer and performer not only to Israel but also to Europe. Eleni Foureira, a much-anticipated guest performer, sang her Eurovision-hit song “Fuego” with Noa during the concert, thrilling the audience.

Due to the concert’s overwhelming success and the fact that all of the tickets were sold out right away, Noa’s team decided to hold a second concert on September 23.

The concert is anticipated to be just as thrilling as yesterday’s event and will provide the audience with another pleasant surprise. Reliable sources claim that Noa’s team invited Chanel to perform with her tomorrow. Chanel was the Spanish representative in Eurovision 2022 and appears to have accepted the invitation to perform live tomorrow in Tel Aviv.

Chanel, as well as Eleni Foureira and Noa Kirel, caused pandemonium with her performance skills along with her latin rhythm and temperament in 2022, bringing Spain back to the top three for the first time since 1995.

Through the occasion of her concerts, Noa Kirel had the opportunity to share the stage with Eurovision performers that set the bar high, a bar that she overcame, and performers with whom she was also inevitably compared.

This is what we’ve been waiting for: Eleni Foureira and Noa Kirel perform “Fuego”!

As we informed you earlier, Eleni Foureira(Cyprus 2018) and Noa Kirel(Israel 2023) took the stage today for the first time together at Yarakon Park in Tel Aviv, on the occasion of the latter’s big concert.

The meeting of those two was explosive, and based on what we’ve seen so far, they indeed managed to set the packed Yarakon Park on “fire”.

Meanwhile, Noa performed her Eurovision entry “Unicorn” as well as many of her hit songs, making the crowd delirious.

Eleni Foureira-Noa Kirel

The connection between the two Eurovision artists is obvious. Eleni Foureira represented Cyprus in 2018, taking the 2nd place, while Noa Kirel represented Israel this year, finishing 3rd. These two women caused pandemonium with their sleek performances on the Eurovision stage, setting the bar even higher for all dance entries.

However, there has been a connection between Eleni and Noa for years. In 2017, Noa Kirel released her big hit “Tikitas“, which is the Hebrew cover of the song “Ti Koitas” by Eleni Foureira. Behind the two versions, as well as other songs of both artists, is the composer Doron Medalie.
