Greece: On March 10, through the main news bulletin of ERT, the revelation of Amanda’s song!

The decision has been made and ERT finalized the date of the announcement of the Greek participation in Eurovision 2022. According to our information, the video clip of the song, with which Amanda will compete in Turin, will be published through the main news bulletin of ERT1 , on Thursday, March 10, at 9 p.m. Of course, if the news does not allow it, the announcement will take place from one of the ERT shows (eg Studio 4).

Everything is ready and ERT’s initial intention was for the videoclip to be released next Thursday, March 3. Unfortunately, the dramatic developments in Ukraine, with the Russian troops at the gates of Kiev, pushed them to postpone the publication of the Greek entry for a week.

With Greece in fourth place in bets, despite the leak of just an unfinished demo, optimism is pervasive on the ERT’s headquarters that the country will manage in Eurovision 2022 to take an even better position than last year. So, wanting to give as much attention as possible to Amanda’s song, ERT decided to postpone the release of the video clip for next Thursday, March 10. Of course, there is no guarantee that the situation in Ukraine will be better next week, but nevertheless the Greek public television wants to exhaust every possible margin.

The countdown is now officially starting!

Stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all the developments regarding the Greek participation in Eurovision 2022!

Germany: Interview with Felicia Lu From Germany 12 Points! (Video)

Following the announcement of her participation in this year’s national final of Germany, Germany 12 Points, Felicia Lu speaks exclusively to EurovisionFun and Apostolos Bogiannos and Apostolis Matamis.

Felicia is one of the six finalists in the German national final for Eurovision 2022, and will try for the second time to represent her country with the song “Anxiety”.

In 2017 the situation was completely different. I was younger, the whole process was different. We were given all 5 ready songs and we had to make them our own. This year I come up with a song of my own that suits me perfectly. And it is a different experience because this year I will be able to be myself as an artist on stage. I was excited when the applications opened and realized that I could try again, so I sent the video and as a surprise I was selected once again. “Anxiety” is a personal song about all the social stress I went through in the last two years like everyone else. For me it was very important to have a song with a deep meaning and to help the people who will listen to it and not to take part with a song that will convey that everything around us is happy, something that is not true. And with “Anxiety” I want to convey the message that despite our stress we have to fight to overcome them, with a happier and dancing sound. Although it was not written directly for the contest, I’m glad it was selected from a total of five songs I submitted on public television.

Regarding her stage appearance in the national final, she stated that:

I work very hard for my live show which will be very different from the studio. Vocals will be better and more intense while there will be some moments of surprises. The whole look will be fun. There will be no resemblance to the videoclip. Although this was filmed in a toilet with a dose of humor, my stage appearance will be more serious and enjoyable.

Although she likes all the fellow songs, she can not single out one since she does not see the final in a competition but as a fun meeting between friends.

Her favorite German entries are those of Michael Schulte (2018), Lena (2010) and Stefan Raab (2000) while from the competition in general she stands out the entries of Måneskin (Italy 2021), Daði og Gagnamagnið (Iceland 2021) and Lake Malawi (Czech Republic 2019).

If he chose a Eurostar to work with, it would be Måneskin (Italy 2021).

Following her effort for Eurovision 2017, Felicia took part in Rising Star Germany 2018.

Shortly before the end of the interview, Felicia gave us a part of her participation.

EBU: Russia’s representatives suspended from the European Broadcasting Union!

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has decided to suspend the three main Russian members that were until yesterday members of the union. Three days ago the Russian stations had unofficially announced, as it seems, their membership of the Broadcasting Union.

EBU’s statement on Russian members:

The EBU Executive Board, in light of ongoing events in Ukraine, has decided to suspend representatives from its three Russian Members (RTR, Channel One and RDO) from serving in its governance groups, including the Executive Board and all Statutory Committees. This follows the decision taken last week to exclude Russia from the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest.

In taking this action, the Executive Board took note of the public statement issued by the three Member organizations on 26 February announcing their intention to withdraw from the EBU. A decision taken as a direct result of Russia’s exclusion from the Song Contest. The Members have verbally confirmed to us their intent to leave and we are awaiting their formal confirmation.

The suspension will remain in effect until further notice has been given by the Executive Board.

Cyprus: Is Giorgos Papadopoulos involved with the Cypriot entry?

By Sunday 13 March, all countries that haven’t announced an artist and song for Eurovision 2022 will have to do so. Among them is Cyprus, which play their cards close to their chest this year, waiting until the last moment to make the official announcement.

What do we know as of now?

Although nothing has been officially announced by the Cypriot broadcaster, RIK, what appears to happen thus far are the following:

  • The country will be represented by Andromachi from PANIK Records.
  • The song is signed by Alex P and his team.
  • According to what Andromachi has stated lately, it is a song with a mix of traditional and modern sound.
  • The song might have some Greek lyrics.
  • The artistic director for the second consecutive year will be Austrian-born Marvin Dietmann.

Is George Papadopoulos a part of the Cypriot team?

Based on some of our latest information, RIK will announce that the well-known Cypriot singer-songwriter Giorgos Papadopoulos is included in the composing of the Cypriot entry.

The participation of Giorgos Papadopoulos in the whole project, comes to confirm everything that RIK said in the previous months, that in this year’s Eurovision, there will be a strong Cypriot colour.

We remind you that two years ago, in an exclusive statements by the artist’s manager to Eurovisionfun, it was mentioned that Giorgos Papadopoulos was against representing his country as a performer, but not as a composer or a lyricist.

Right now, I think he wouldn’t want to be the performer, but he would certainly want to be the lyricist and the composer of the Cypriot entry.

We are anxiously awaiting for the official announcements of RIK for this year’s Cypriot participation! Cyprus will compete in the first half of the second semi-final of Eurovision 2022, hoping for its seventh consecutive qualification to the final.

Switzerland: Οn March 8th to reveal Eurovision 2022 artist and entry!

So far this season, Switzerland have kept lots of Eurovision news under wraps, but we finally have a date for the release of their entry! Switzerland’s representative for Eurovision 2022 – will be revealed on Tuesday 8th March. Their entry will also be released on the same day.

The jury

Some time ago, the country’s broadcaster, SRF, revealed the twenty-three Eurovision special judges who selected the Swiss representative for Eurovision 2022. The jury consisted of individuals who have either competed as singers – songwriters or as members of a national jury in the competition.

As well as the lesser-known national jury members, some former Eurovision acts have sat on the jury to choose Switzerland’s entry – could the entry go two steps further than last year and win the whole contest?

Among the jury, familiar faces include:

  • Ovidiu Jacobsen (Ovi) – Romania 2010 & 2014
  • Tinkara Kovač – Slovenia 2014
  • Gabriela Horn (PÆNDA) – Austria 2019
  • Helga Möller – Iceland 1986
  • Alexey Gross – Belarus national final 2016
  • Gore Melian – Cyprus national final 2009
  • Ludmila Kuts – Belarus backing singer 2011
  • Karl-Ander Reismann – Eesti Laul songwriter

Last year Gjon gave Switzerland their best result in the contest since 1993. “Tout l’univers”  ultimately placed 3rd in the Grand Final in Rotterdam, winning the jury vote and scoring 432 points.

France: Interview with Pauline Chagne from Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez! (Video)

After the announcement of her participation in this year’s national final of France, Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez !, Pauline Chagne speaks exclusively to EurovisionFun and Apostolos Bogiannos and Apostolοs Matamis.

Pauline is one of the twelve finalists in the French national final for Eurovision 2022, and will try to represent her country with the song “Nuit Pauline”.

I received a message on Instagram something that I initially thought was funny since I really wanted to take part. I immediately showed it to my composer to tell me if it was true and he advised me to answer, which I eventually did. I submitted several songs, videos and photos and after several discussions we came up with “Nuit Pauline” with which I am finally competing. The song conveys how we can write our own story. From a cinematic point of view, through this, I make a statement about so many great French artists we want to look like. It has 80s influences, energy and is a source of inspiration. The song was not written for Eurovision from the beginning. was the song I wanted from last November as my debut for my music, my first album, and I’m so happy it was selected for the French national final.

Regarding her stage appearance in the national final, she stated that:

My song is quite festive. Since I was a child, I have been in a scene, from Christmas parties to classical music performances. And for that, my whole life will be on stage, it will be a celebration on stage conveying the message that we can write our story. Of course I will not be alone and I will have my harp. It will be reminiscent of France, and while it will have influences from the 80s, it will also be modern since we live in 2022. There will be lights and effects. I want to convey a look at French cinema, the music of the song may be international but France is what I represent.

Although she likes all the fellow songs, she singles out those of Saam, Soa, Marius and Joan.

Her favorite French entries are those of Barbara Pravi (2021), Bilal Hassani (2019), Amir (2016) and Marie Myriam (1977) while from the competition in general she stands out the entries of Hooverphonic (Belgium 2021), Daði og Gagnamagnið (Iceland 2021 ) and Stefania (Greece 2021).

If he chose some Eurostars to work with, they would be Barbara Pravi (France 2021) and Conchita Wurst (Austria 2014).

Inspired by Barbara Pravi, with her victory in the national final she wants to take the stage of Eurovision and spread the elegance of French music all over the world, bringing something that is quite festive, a party on the stage of the competition. She hopes her song will be a “guilty pleasure” for the audience that will watch it.

Shortly before the end of the interview, Pauline gave us a part of her participation, even playing with the harp that will be on the stage of the national final!

Cyprus: Fatjon Miftari producer of the Eurovision entry?

While RIK continues to keep its papers closed for Eurovision 2022, a story posted by Alex P on his profile, perhaps betrays the fact that Fatjon Miftari, a well-known Albanian producer, is working with Alex P for the Cypriot participation in this year’s competition.

We know little about this year’s Cypriot participation. Everything shows that Andromachi from PANIK Records, will represent Cyprus in Turin, with a song composed by Alex P. It seems that the group is completed by Nikos Giouletzis, a well-known musician in Greece with many important collaborations, but also Fatjon Miftari music producer from Albania. His latest release was Lajkat by Angela Peristeri, last year’s Albania’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest.

RIK is expected to announce both the name of the artist and the song at the end of the deadline set by the EBU to the participating countries of Eurovision 2022, ie shortly before Sunday, March 13.
