Today is the fourth day of rehearsals, the day when the countries participating in the First Semi Final will take over the stage for their second rehearsal at M&S Bank Arena, in Liverpool!
Next up on stage for their second rehearsal is Croatia and Let 3 with the song “Mama ŠČ!“.
Let 3 come from Rijeka, the birthplace of Croatia’s punk scene, where they quickly gained a reputation for merging energetic performances with live art, social commentary, over-the-top theatrics, and outlandish costumes.
Frontman Zoran Prodanović (Prlja) started out in the band Umjetnici Ulice, before joining with bass guitarist Damir Martinović (Mrle) to form Let 2 in 1986 (which eventually evolved into Let 3 when they added a new member).
This established and much-loved group have released 10 albums, one of which, Nečuveno (Unheard), quickly sold out despite the record being completely blank.
In Croatia the band are known for their provocative performances and are no strangers to shocking audiences by performing in the nude… we’ve no doubt Croatian broadcaster HRT are carefully going through the Eurovision rulebook with the boys right now.
It’s 2nd rehearsal time for Croatia’s Let 3, and it looks no less bonkers on the big screen than it did in the arena. It’s just…bigger. And brighter. Let 3 kick off with their trademark extravagant costumes, mind-bending graphics and high fashion hat/dress combos, and then for the final chorus they all strip down to their underwear and wave huge missiles.

The colours are more psychedelic. The removal of clothing is in high definition. They have an extensive track record of getting naked on stage, but they’ve kept it classy for a Sunday afternoon.

The seventh country on the rehearsals schedule is Croatia with the eccentric entry “Mama ŠČ!” of the group Let 3

Not sure the Liverpool arena has ever seen anything quite like that.
It feels like a nursery rhyme or a lullaby, but with tractors, kissing and war.

Croatia’s public broadcaster, HRT, revealed that Dora 2023 will have some changes in its whole concept. In detail, Tomislav Štengl, the head of the Croatian delegation, explained the plans on Dora’s changes, in an interview in HR2.
The first big change is that the songs will be available relatively earlier in contrast with previous years, and all artists will be demanded to have a music or lyric video for their songs.
The other major change is that the song selection will once again take place through a national final, but this year Dora is going to have two semi-finals. By adding more competitive shows in the national final, HRT wants to attract as many artists as possible.
What is more, HRT plans on creating a special show that will showcase each artist and their songs for Dora 2023,
The Croatian national final will take place in February in Opatija. The submission window is already open and will remain this way until November 20.
The previous winner of Dora and Croatia’s representative in Eurovision 2022 was Mia Dimšić with the song “Guilty Pleasure“, but she didn’t manage to qualify for the grand final, ending up in 11th place of the first semi-final for the second year in a row.

Croatian national broadcaster HRT confirmed Croatia’s participation in Eurovision 2023 and simultaneously it is in search of Croatia’s next representative that is going to travel to the United Kingdom.
It will choose its representative again through Dora 2023, while the song submission window opened for those interested, until November 20th.
Compared to past editions, the national final is going to face several changes. Firstly, 14 to 28 songs will be selected, along with four backups, while it’s very possible for a Semi-final to happen. The decision for the number of the semi-finals and the night of the final will be taken by HRT until January 10th.
Six people at max are going to be allowed on stage during the act (recorded backing vocals are allowed) and the staging plans should be submitted until December 10th.
Also, until December 20th, the performer should submit the official music video or a lyric video of their song. The Dora performance will be used as the official video at the Eurovision channel. However, if the performer submits the official music video on time, HRT will report this at EBU as the official video.
Dora 2023 is expected to happen in February, as usual.
This year Croatia was represented by Mia Dimšić and the song “Guilty Pleasure” and couldn’t progress to the Eurovision 2022 final, finishing at the 11th place of its Semi-Final for the second year in a row.

The final run of countries for today begins with Croatia. Mia Dimšić entered on stage on Sunday for her first rehearsal wearing a hot pink gown with flamenco ruffles. She was accompanied by three contemporary dancers who provided some lyrical storytelling with lots of movement. Croatia is considered one of the dark horses for qualifying to the Saturday’s Grand Final. Will she grab the attention with her second rehearsal?
The Second Rehearsal
Croatia is telling a romantic story through the staging. Except Mia there are 2 male dancers and 1 female. Croatia’s rehearsal begins with Mia having a dark blue lighting falling on her. The stage is dark and there are small dotted lights in the backround like stars. There are enough close shots on Mia. Then, the lights turns into white and Mia is visible. She gives some looks on the dancers and interacts with them. Mia takes some steps and looks at one male and one female dancer holding hands. She is having some more interactions with the male dancer. The bridge starts with a shot on the waterfall that ends up on Mia. The LED floor, as also the sun LED backround are also blue. In the final part of the song, the dancers run around her and the performance finishes with her becoming shadowed. Blue and pink are the key colours of the staging. The staging is atmospheric, romantic and Mia is vocally good. Overall, the staging is based on the interactions of Mia with the dancers.
At the end of the first run she complains about hearing problems.
In the bridge and the last chorus of the second run Mia sang the Croatian version. After the end of the second run she complains again about hearing problems. She confirms to the crew that she will sing the final part of the song in Croatian.
She also sings the final part of the song in Croatian in the third run.
