EXCLUSIVE: With a powerful song for Eurovision 2025, the Songwriting Camp in Elounda was completed!

The first Eurovision Songwriting Camp ever held in Greece ended yesterday, Friday, July 5, in Elounda, Crete. According to our exclusive information, the composers who participated in the camp are delighted with the result, since they consider that they have a very strong song for Eurovision 2025 in their hands.

All week long, the four established musicians with great experience, as well as successes in the competition, worked intensively to prepare songs for Eurovision 2025. The creators of Nemo’s The Code, Lasse Midtsian Nymann and Linda Dale, the well-known Norwegian songwriter Elsie Bay, as well as Dream Team’s composer Dimitris Kontopoulos, joined forces with the result, as we are informed, fully justifying them.

All these camps usually involve many more songwriters, and aim to write many songs for various artists. The duration of these camps does not exceed three days and the time that each composer has to work with other musicians is very limited, since the composition of the working groups is rotated for practical reasons.

In the songwriting camp of Elounda, as you read above, four composers participated and their goal was to write one or more songs, for a single artist as we can now reveal to you, who seems to have already been selected in a country or has the intention to submit a song. The time they had was much longer than the usual songwriting camps that are held in Europe, while all five days they worked together, in order to reach the result they wanted.

They wrote a total of three songs, as we informed you in our previous article, but one of them qualified out of all four, as the most suitable for the upcoming song contest in Switzerland. In the next period, more details will be revealed, both about the song and about the artist who will be invited to perform it.

It is worth noting that the four composers were very pleased with their collaboration and renewed their appointment for further musical projects.

Elsie Bay: “I had no intention of returning to MGP”| Interview | (Video)

Following the announcement of her participation in this year’s Norwegian national final, Melodi Grand Prix 2023, Elsie Bay spoke exclusively to EurovisionFun and Apostolos Bogiannos and Giorgos Zeuteridis.

Elsie is among one of the finalists of this year’s MGP and will try to represent her country at Eurovision 2023 with the song “Love you in a dream“.

This is her second time participating in the national final and she says that although she enjoyed her experience last year, she had no intention of returning to the competition this year but changed her mind when she wrote her MGP 2023 entry song.

When asked what “Love you in a dream” means to her, she answered:

“I am very proud of this song, which talks about the realization of our dreams which can only be achieved if we ourselves strive for it.”

About her stage performance, she told us:

“My song is a ballad, so don’t expect a ‘party’ on stage. But I won’t be alone on stage”.

When asked which of her two performances she prefers, she answered that her song “Love you in a dream” stands out this year.

In conclusion, she told us that the eurostars she would like to work with are Cornelia Jacobs and Alexander Rybak, while “Hold me closer” is her favorite song for Eurovision 2022.

Just before the end of the interview, Elsie offered us a part of her acapella song.

Norway: Interview with Elsie Bay from Melodi Grand Prix 2022! (Video)

After the announcement of her participation in this year’s national final of NorwayMelodi Grand Prix 2022Elsie Bay talks exclusively to EurovisionFun and George Zefteridis.

Elsie Bay is one of the automatic qualifiers at MGP 2022 finals, that also appeared and performed her song “Death of us“, live at the first semi final.

She mentions that she is really happy about her performance, as that was something she highly anticipated and with regards to the staging of her song, she mentioned that she had to keep it a secret, until she eventually performed it live.

I received quite some positive feedback and really nice messages about my semi-final performance. Currently we are working on my performance for the MGP finals, where there will certainly be some changes. But we’ve not decided on that, yet.

Death of Us” was born during a songwriting camp where she participated and as she says, she never expected she’d write a song which she would have to perform in the end.

I didn’t expect to compose a song for me, specifically for MGP. Last year, I’d composed the song “Witch Woods” which I decided to give to Emmy, as it suited her quite nicely. This year I had no idea what I could write about, flicked through some of my old notes, mixed and matched and then “Death of Us” came to life. And now I really believe that I got a chance to win the national selection.

From those songs of her competitors, she likes the songs of NorthKidSubwoolferVilde and Farida. Her favourite past Norwegian entry was the winning song “Fairytale” by Alexander Rybak (2009) and generally from the contest the loved last year’s winners Maneskin (Italy 2021), Loreen (Sweden 2012) and Gjon’s Tears (Switzerland 2021).

We couldn’t help but ask her about Amanda Tenfjord that will represent Greece this year, who is also half Norwegian. Elsie commented:

I know Amanda. I’m not sure if we’ve ever met in person, however, I think we’re under the same management. I’ve also worked with her producer, Bjorn.

A few moments before we had to say goodbye to Elsie Bay, she sang a part of her song for us, acapella.

Norway: Elsie Bay’s “Death Of Us” is accused of plagiarism!

It is the favorite according to the odds, at least at this stage, for the victory in MGP 2022 and the representation of Norway in the upcoming Eurovision song contest. However, controversy has been caused in the last few hours on Twitter, as there are many users who claim that Elsie Bay’s Death Of Us has very strong similarities, not with one, but with two songs.

Specifically, Twitter users find several similarities in Death Of Us, both with Lana Del Rey’s Young And Beautiful and Aurora’s Forgotten Love, who is also Norwegian.

To emphasize these similarities, Twitter users also made relevant videos, where they compare the two songs, in spots where the similarities are more than enough.

You can listen to them below and draw your own conclusions:

  • Comparison with Lana Del Rey’s Young And Beautiful:
  • Comparison with Aurora’s Forgotten Love:

We remind you that Elsie Bay’s Death Of Us participates as a direct finalist in the MGP 2022 final on February 19. But next Saturday, January 15, we will have the opportunity to see her live her, singing Death Of Us in the first semifinal of MGP 2022.
