Moldova: Listen “Prison”‘s final version | Watch the video clip!

Only six hours left until Moldova’s live audition and the national selection of the song that will represent the country at the 65th Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

The final version of Natalia Gordienko’s song “Prison“ was released today, the video clip of which was made in Greece. The song is signed by Dimitris Kontopoulos and Philip Kirkorkov, while lyrics by Sharon Vaughn.

“Dream Team” says about their participation in the moldovan selection with Prison and Natalia Gordienko:

Natalia Gordienko is one of the most popular artists in Moldova and the only singer that has managed to win the two most important festivals in Eastern Europe : Slavianski bazaar and New Wave.

In 2008, when she was just 21 years old, she received the prestigious “National artist” award for her contribution in promoting Moldova around the world. At the National selection Natalia Gordienko is participating with the song “Prison”, a powerful Avant Garde ballad with strong ethnic elements.

The song describes the extreme emotions in a passionate relationship. The track is composed by the “dream team” Phillip Kirkorov and Dimitris Kontopoulos while the lyrics are written by Sharon Vaughn. In case Natalia Gordienko wins the national selection, Fokas Evangelinos is going to be the creative director of her stage presentation in Eurovision.

The video clip of the song was shot in Athens and shows the way Natalia is trying to escape from the “prison” of her passionate lover.

Dream Team for Prison.

Prison is a very different type of music from what Natalia Gordienko has done so far. She says it was a dream of a lifetime to be back on the Eurovision stage, having already participated in 2006 as a duo at that time, of course, but had not attempted so far, as she wanted to be with the ‘Dream Team’.

This will be the second time the ‘Dream Team’ will represent Moldova, if Natalia wins in tomorrow’s Moldova’s national selection. In 2018, the Greek- Russian team was behind DoReDoS, where the song My Lucky Day put the country in the 10th place with 209 points.

Slovenia: Submissions to EMA 2020 begun

After a very good result in Tel Aviv, Slovenia is bowling for Eurovision 2020 in the Netherlands, choosing its representative of course through the well-known EMA.  Submissions will last until November 18th.

Through EMA for another year 

Slovenia has achieved four qualifications in the last six years and of course wants to maintain this good result in the Netherlands as well. EMA 2020 regulations have not been announced yet, but we are already aware of a change to the next Slovenian national final.

EMA is looking for new talents 

RTVSLO has announced the launch of EMA along with a separate option, EMA FREŠ.  This is an online option where songs submitted by users  will be posted on the RTV website and across social media.  Visitors will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite composition  on a daily basis, with the winners coming out of the vote at the end of the week.  The winner of the competition will be announced during the night of the EMA 2020 final.

Eligible to participate in EMA FREŠ, are artists under the age of twenty-six who have released no more than three copyrighted  songs, that is, they have been released commercially, in any way.

RTV hopes that the introduction of EMA FREŠ will encourage younger musicians to submit their own compositions.  The application deadline for EMA FREŠ is September 19th.

Will the good results in the comfiest continue?

Earlier this year, Slovenia scored its best in Eurovision since 2015. Zala Kralj and Gašper Šantl finished 15th in the grand final with the atmospheric “Sebi”.  In addition, the duo won Slovenia’s fourth qualification in the last six years – Slovenia’s most successful run since the semifinals.

After the Dutch publication, which wants Maastricht to be the city that the EBU prefers to host Eurovision 2020, the European Union’s city -symbol now shows that it has the most dynamic and full-fledged candidacy than the remaining ones.The city presented,in social networks,the slogan, as well as the promotional video of its candidacy.

With a barrage of post on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, Maastricht is the first city to unveil part of the dossier, which will be deposited by Wednesday, July 10, on the country’s public television.

In the pictures and videos released by the Municipality of Maastricht, it is clear, of course, not only the city’s attractions, but also teenagers  wearing t-shirts with the distinctive “Come closer” slogan.

The Mayor of Maastricht, Annemarie Penn-te Strake, who has already come out strongly in favor of her city’s candidacy, in her statements characterizes the city as the ideal venue for the next Eurovision Song Contest.

“An internationally recognized city at the crossroads of Europe. A city that has everything and is still forgotten, full of character and atmosphere. The capital of an area that embraces all its visitors, where you can go as you are!”

Maastricht proposes MECC Maastricht to host the Eurovision 2020 with a capacity of 20,000 spectators. The  Maastricht’s candidacy is also supported by the region of Limburg.

Why is Maastricht the symbol of Europe?
Maastricht is a municipality and capital of the province of Limburg. The city is located on both sides of the river Meuse in the southeastern part of the Netherlands between Belgium and Germany.

In the Middle Ages, the city was the pinnacle of the dispute between the Netherlands and France, which, because of its highly strategic position, had been coveted by both. SO, it was changing possession throughout the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

After the Napoleonic era, Maastricht became part of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands in 1815. When the southern provinces claimed independence from the north to form Belgium in 1830, the Maastricht guard remained loyal to the Dutch king, and in 1839 the city and eastern part of Limburg, although geographically closer to Belgium, were permanently added to the Netherlands.

Because of its subsequent eccentric position, Maastricht often focused more on Belgium and Germany than on the rest of the Netherlands, which contributed to the distinct non-Dutch character of the city.

On September 14, 1944, Maastricht was the first Dutch city to be liberated by Allied forces during the Second World War where the 9th US Army Headquarters was stationed for some time.

On 7 February 1992, the Treaty of Maastricht, which led to the creation of the European Union,was signed here, and which Toto Cutugno sang for in 1990 at Eurovision,winning first place for Italy with “Insieme”.

Rotterdam is fighting back
Rotterdam, considered by many to be the favorite of Eurovision 2020, is worried about Maastricht’s increasingly dynamic bid, and has made its counterattack. As it is written today in the domestic media, the event, if will be held in Rotterdam, will be boosted by 15 million Euros more from the municipality’s funds.

In addition, according to what is reffered in the Rotterdam candidacy bid, 3,000 rooms in hotels in the city have already been reserved so that they can be assigned to the delegations and accredited journalists who will come to Rotterdam for the contest.

The venue proposed by Rotterdam for Eurovision 2020 is Rotterdam Ahoy, with a capacity of 16,500 seats.

The five remaining cities claiming Eurovision 2020 are:

4.Utrecht
5.Rotterdam

Dutch public broadcaster and EBU will announce the city that will host Eurovision 2020 in August.
