Junior Eurovision 2024: RTVE reveals the hosts of the 22nd edition!

The 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held for the first time in Spain on November 16. The excitement is high for the Spanish as 2024 marks the twentieth anniversary of their first and only win in the contest, with Maria Isabel, as well as the first time that the nation hosts an EBU event since 1969.

Just moments ago, RTVE revealed the hosts of the 22nd edition of the children’s contest, which will be held in Baja Mágica in Madrid on November 16. Specifically, the show will be hosted by Ruth Lorenzo, Marc Clotet and Melani Garcia.

Who are the hosts of Junior Eurovision 2024?

Fans of the Eurovision Song Contest will recognize Ruth Lorenzo because she represented Spain in the 2014 competition. Lorenzo was born in Murcia. Ruth’s song “Dancing in the Rain” brought Spain in the top ten in Copenhagen ten years ago. Since then, the singer has continued to pursue her musical career and has ventured into television hosting. Ruth has hosted Spain’s Eurovision pre-selection show, Benidorm Fest, among other shows.

Marc Clotet is an award-winning actor who has acted in theater, television and film. In 2021, Marc established his own production company as well. Esto No Es Suecia, his debut series, was co-produced by RTVE. It received honors from the Prix Europa Awards as well as the Cannes Series Festival.

Melanie García competed for Spain in the 2019 Contest, which took place in Gliwice, Poland. With her song “Marte” she made a very successful return for Spain, placing third overall. Since then, the young singer has released more music and done roles in theater and television. In 2022, she received a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards nomination for Best Spanish Artist. Additionally, Melani won the 2018 La Voz Kids series, one year before she brough Spain the second place in Junior Eurovision.

Junior Eurovision 2024: Idols SM will represent San Marino in Madrid with their song “Come Noi”!

The micro state of San Marino returns to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest for the first time after nine years. Just moments ago, it was announced that Idols SM will fly the Sanmarinese flag in Madrid.

How were Idols SM selected?

The artists’ announcement took place during “Sogna ragazzo sogna“, a fundraising event held in San Marino for research into pediatric cancer diseases. Idols SM consists of four girls, namely Asia Ceccoli, Giulia Rinaldi, Giorgia Descisolo and Vera Stefania Olkhovskaya.

The artists were selected internally by RTV. In fact and for its return, RTV San Marino decided to choose young artists based in San Marino, after last being represented by Kamilla Ismailova, who was born and raised in Russia.

The two candidate songs, “Poesia” and “Come Noi,” were played for the audience during “Sogna Ragazzo Sogna.” “Come Noi” was chosen as the Sanmarinese entry for Junior Eurovision 2024 after a jury vote.

France: No immediate decision on hosting Junior Eurovision 2024!

France Télévisions has not made an immediate decision after its victory in Nice on whether to host Junior Eurovision 2024.

Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez, Director of Channels and Progams at France Télévisions, told 20Minutes.fr that no decision has yet been made on whether France will host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2024.

Zoé Clauzure won the competition for France yesterday, bringing the country its second consecutive win.

Mr Sitbon-Gomez said:

As far as Junior Eurovision is concerned, we will first celebrate the victory. Then we will discuss, as we have done every time, with the EBU to find out where it would be better. There are many countries that want to host it and we don’t want there to be a French monopoly on Junior Eurovision.

Furthermore, he stressed that the broadcaster has not yet taken any decision on the organisation of the competition:

We take time to discuss and think together. Today, we are especially happy and proud of what we have been able to experience.

The lack of immediate reaction to the victory is a change from France’s 2021 victory in Yerevan, Armenia. Then on the night of the competition, the general manager of France Télévisions confirmed that it would host the next edition of the competition.

There is speculation that with the 2024 Paris Olympics taking place in 2024 and the financial burden this will place on the host country’s broadcaster, France Télévisions may choose to decline to host the event. We recall that this has happened before in 2015, when RAI of Italy chose not to host the 2015 competition and instead the EBU opened up hosting the contest to bidding.

Zoé Clauzure from France won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Nice, France with 228 points. She was first in both the jury vote and the online vote, bringing France its third win and a consecutive victory after 2022.
