Loreen: “I do not support the boycott of the Eurovision song contest”

Twice Eurovision winner, Loreen has spoken up against the boycott of the Eurovision Song Contest.

The singer of Euphoria and Tatoo talked with iNews about the current contest.  Loreen said that although she understood the frustration, she thought it was the wrong way to go.

According to GB News Loreen said:

We have to find other, more constructive ways to change what is going on, says Loreen

The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 Final is taking place tomorrow, May 11, 2024, in Malmö.  Many fans and even participants have expressed dissatisfaction with Israel’s participation in the contest. Since the war broke out on October 7 last year, the boycott discussion has been persistent on social media.

However, Loreen is not among the people supporting a boycott.

“I understand the frustration about the situation in the world. This is a community, a hub, a source of energy. Music is created and it creates happiness.  To boycott a hub of love and creativity to make a stand? Is that what we do? To actually silence sound and music and the only language we have in common? So we’re going to shut it down to make a stand? For what? I don’t believe it” Loreen.

Eurovision 2024: Loreen and Johnny Logan’s duet that did not happen!

The First Semi-Final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest wrapped up last night and without doubt, the opening and interval acts were impressive. Of course, “Mr Eurovision” himself, Johnny Logan, the only male double winner, could not be absent. He performed an orchestral version of Loreen’s Euphoria, the only female double winner.

However, plans were somewhat different. What was set out to be done was that, the two winners would take the stage of the First Semi-Final together, as a duet “Queen and King of Eurovision”. But, just a few weeks before the show, inside information say that Loreen bowed out of the idea, leaving Johnny Logan to perform alone on stage.

Despite this information, Loreen’s manager Tony Beard denies the claims and mentions that:

“Loreen never said that she would sing a duet with Johnny Logan. She has totally focused on the performance she is preparing for Saturday’s Grand Final, something we had made clear to SVT since the beginning. Anything else is false information.

We are aware of the fact that the public would like to see a duet by Loreen and Johnny Logan, but the former’s act for Saturday has been a priority. It will not be an ordinary performance.”

We have aleady informed you about Loreen’s act on Saturday on a previous article:

On the other hand, Ebba Adielsson, executive producer of Eurovision on SVT pinpoints:

“During this year, we have come up with many ideas regarding the opening and the interval acts. Others have been supported, others have been turned down. Loreen is going to appear on the Grand Final on Saturday and we intend to surprise the media that will witness her rehearsal.”

Sweden: Melodifestivalen producer Karin Gunnarsson aims for another Eurovision victory!

It has been almost 9 months since last year’s Eurovision victory of Sweden with Loreen getting a double with the song “Tattoo“.

Melodifestivalen producer Karin Gunnarsson spoke to The Euro Trip podcast and expressed her goal to win again, back-to-back, aiming to help Sweden make history this year. Gunnarsson said:

“The ambition is to do it again, nothing less. It has meant so much for the Swedish music industry, songwriters and the people of Sweden that we did win, so the vibe has been very positive.  I thought it would be a hangover and artists would not want to compete, songwriters thinking we wouldn’t win again, and it would be a tougher season, but not at all. It has ignited Sweden to move forward. I’m still looking for our next winner.”

Karin was the one that helped things happen last year. She was the one that received a demo by the group of writers Peter Boström, Cazzi Opeia, Thomas G:son, Jimmy Jansson and Jimmy Joker. They sent a demo to Gunnarsson and the Melodifestivalen team and the rest is history:

“I heard the song and all I could think about was, ‘This is such a Loreen song’. The songwriters and I had a conversation going, and I know Loreen, but not that well. It was someone else who played it to her. If the song existed, then I had a feeling that she would not be able to say no. She’s such a creator, artist and incredible person. For me it was hand in glove, and I hoped she would feel the same. When she heard it she just felt that it was her song.”

Sweden was the bookies favourite to win last year, but Finland and Käärijä were closely following Loreen, so it was a hard game for two. Karin “bet” on Loreen‘s win, by getting a tattoo a few days before she headed off to Liverpool:

“I have a tattoo. I did this two weeks before Liverpool. I thought to myself, ‘This is going to happen’, but I didn’t want to jinx it. I did it and I didn’t tell anyone. All the time in Liverpool I always wore long sleeves. At breakfast on Sunday I had short sleeves on and I went over to Thomas G:son and I showed him. I had told him if we win, I’d get the crystal ball tattoo.”

The schedule for the six shows of the Melodifestivalen 2024 tour

Sweden: The aim is a back-to-back victory, according to project manager Anders Wistbacka!

Today morning, SVT unveiled Carina Berg as the host of this year’s shows of Melodifestivalen, on a press conference at the headquarters of SVT in Stockholm, Sweden!

Melodifestivalen’s project manager Anders Wistbacka made the announcement of the presenter, but before doing so he made quite an interesting statement:

“For the first time for Sweden, we want to win this contest twice in a row!”

This of course creates high expectations in the fanbase about the selection of the thirty songs that will compete in this year’s heats in the hopes of representing Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden.

He then commented on the selection of Carina as this year’s host of Melodifestivalen:

“For this year’s Melodifestivalen, we wanted a presenter with a capital P. We wanted a professional, experienced and loved by the viewers. Someone who can lead the show with warm, glamorous and humorous tone. We put the question to Carina Berg and she said yes! I am very happy and proud and know that we have found the right one.”

Happy New Year to all!

Sweden: Last Aftonbladet reveal, a day before the official SVT announcement!

EurovisionFun is currently in Stockholm, a day before the scheduled press conference when SVT will reveal the Melodifestivalen 2024 artists, their songs and the heat allocation, while Torbjörn Ek and Stina Dahlgren, reporters at Aftonbladet work hard at the newsroom of Aftonbladet and add up a few more names in the line-up of Melodifestivalen 2024, for one last time!

We remind you that last year, Aftonbladet revealed 24 out of the 28 acts of Melodifestivalen 2023, even before SVT announced the line-up officially. Let’s dive in to what they have revealed for us, in their just-published article:

Who is Lia Larsson?

Lia Larsson, 22, is the Tiktok star from Mora who has had EPA dunk success during the year and had her music streamed almost 30 million times, with songs such as “Banka banka” and “Fara ner på byn“. According to what Aftonbladet has learned, she also takes the opportunity to celebrate her Melodifestivalen participation by releasing a new single on the same day as the press conference is held.

Who is Klaudy?

Also ready for Melodifestivalen is William Schenberg, 24, from Tolered in Gothenburg. Under the artist name Klaudy, he participated earlier this year in SVT’s music initiative “Songland” and wrote a song together with the artist Cherrie.

Who is Annika Wickihalder?

Annika Wickihalder, 22, from Örnsköldsvik has also been given a place in next year’s Melodifestivalen. In 2021, she made it to the semi-finals of TV4‘s talent show “Idol“. As Aftonbladet previously revealed, Jacqline Moss, 23, who knocked out Annika in “Idol” will also compete in Mello. Now they both get another chance to compete for viewers’ votes.

Who is Melina Borglowe?

Melina Borglowe, 26, is the singer-songwriter from Växjö who has been signed by the small record company Ten, which has previously achieved success in Melodifestivalen with artists such as Benjamin Ingrosso, Felix Sandman and Bishara. Now, according to Aftonbladet‘s sources, it’s Melina‘s turn to take place in Sweden‘s biggest TV program.

Who is Natalie Carrion?

Finally, Aftonbladet can reveal that Natalie Carrion, 27, from Umeå, will also compete. Natalie, with Caribbean and Sami roots, has several times before been close to joining Mello and competed in 2022 in the sámi Melodifestivalen Sámi Grand Prix. Earlier this year, she was a Swedish commentator when SVT broadcast this year’s edition of the same competition.

We remind you that Melodifestivalen 2024 is scheduled to take place between February 3rd to March 9th, while SVT has received 2624 songs.

Sweden: Danny Saucedo is back at Melodifestivalen, according to Aftonbladet!

Torbjörn Ek and Stina Dahlgren, reporters at Aftonbladet did it again and revealed six more participating acts for Melodifestivalen 2024! We remind you that last year, Aftonbladet revealed 24 out of the 28 acts of Melodifestivalen 2023, even before SVT announced the line-up officially.

As we are approaching December 1, when the final line-up of Melodifestivalen 2024 will be revealed, the Aftonbladet is now nearing 30 acts! Here are the three new names that Aftonbladet brought to the table:

Danny Saucedo

Danny Saucedo, 37, hopes to return to the mainstream Swedish music scene by participating in Melodifestivalen in 2024, according to several sources that Aftonbladet has been in contact with, as he hasn’t made a major success with his latest releases.

The source said he knows he’s gambling by going to Melodifestivalen, he has to have a really strong song and make sure he gets a hit, therefore, the information that reached Aftonbladet in the late autumn has swayed back and forth. Several people who work closely with Melodifestivalen‘s editorial staff have speculated about Danny‘s participation, but now he is said to have finally accepted. Saucedo is said to have collaborated together with Michel Zitron, 42, who has previously been involved in Swedish House Mafia‘s “Don’t you worry child” and “Save the world” and worked with both Avicii and Alesso. The collaboration will also be a bit of a reunion as Zitron was also behind one of Saucedo‘s very first hits, “If Only You” which was the most played song on Swedish radio in 2008.

Elisa Lindström

Aftonbladet can also reveal that Elisa Lindström, 32, is ready for Melodifestivalen 2024. Lindström, who is currently playing one of the main roles in the schlager musical “De’ e’ det här vi kallar kärlek” based on Lasse Holm‘s music, has competed twice before, but without succeeding in advancing from the competitions. Now it could be third time’s the charm.

C-Joe

According to several sources with insight into the matter, the artist C-Joe, or Charles Koroma, 31, as his real name is, will also compete in Melodifestivalen. C-Joe, who is from Gävle with roots in Sierra Leone, has attracted attention locally several times over the years and has released music since 2017. Now will be the first time he will take place in the really big arena, in front of Melodifestivalen‘s multi-million audience, according to Aftonbladet‘s informant.

We remind you that Melodifestivalen 2024 is scheduled to take place between February 3rd to March 9th, while SVT has received 2624 songs.

As you have read in one of our past articles, the final list of Melodifestivalen participants will be published on the 1st of December, at a press conference hosted by SVT at their headquarters in Stockholm.
