Norway: The entries of Melodi Grand Prix 2023 have been selected!

As confirmed by Norway’s head of delegation in the Eurovision Song Contest, Stig Karlsen, and also by Eurovision Norway, the 21 artists and songs that will compete in Melodi Grand Prix 2023 have already been selected.

The announcement of the 21 artists who will compete to represent Norway at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool will take place in early January.

Details on how Melodi Grand Prix 2023 will be held have yet to be announced, but it is expected to include three qualifying rounds and a Grand Final, hosted by Arianrhod Engebø and Staysman. According to previous statements by Stig Karlson, the inclusion of an international committee is likely, unlike in recent years, where the results of Melodi Grand Prix were determined solely by the television audience.

In Eurovision 2022, Norway was represented by Subwoolfer with “Give That Wolf a Banana”, finishing 10th in the Grand Final with 182 points.

Eurovision 2022: Norway’s Second Rehearsal!

The second country to rehearse for the second time is Norway with their wolves! This staging is very similar to the performances we’ve seen from Subwoolfer at MGP and the Eurovision parties – Keith and Jim are supported by three backing dancers in yellow suits and DJ astronaut is overseeing proceedings from their elevated pulpit. We know some people think Subwoolfer are a novelty act, but we beg to differ – it’s a really polished routine and both Keith and Jim deliver great vocal performances. The dance routine is PRECISION.

About the Second Rehearsal

The performance is very slick and polished. They managed to use the MGP text that’s visible for TV viewers only. The Astronaut is in front of the kinetic sun and Subwoolfer are joined by three backup dancers. Vocally an amazing performance. This is so going to be loved by audience, still not sure how juries will react to this. The camera angles are perfect! The third performance of this semi-final that could do very well (after Ukraine and Greece). Very memorable!

Amanda: “The process in Norway is very scary”!

Amanda gave an interview to Marte Stokkstad, a Norwegian public television presenter and commentator of the contest. Among those asked was why she participates with Greece and not with Norway.

Amanda’s answer was clear and was not the one that was mistakenly conveyed on social media:

Wanting to cross-reference the above, we asked Amanda to listen to the audio clip in question and we convey to you literally what was finally said in this interview:

I participated for Greece because I am Greek…The process in Norway is very scary , with all these semifinals, duels. The song is exposed for 5 weeks and this is scary for me!

This was Amanda’s answer to the question why she never participated in the MGP and not why she considers it a circus, as it was falsely said!

Update:

Some minutes after our article published, Eurovision Norway asks apologies for the false and the misunderstanding
