Serbia: Record with over 900 songs for Pesma Evrovizije 2023!

Until yesterday, Serbian public television RTS was receiving proposals for this year’s national final for the selection for Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool.

Since the beginning of September, it was announced that a national final (Pesma Evrovizije) would be held to select the artist and song that will represent the country at Eurovision 2023.

Using the same procedure as last year’s contest, Serbian public television started its search for Konstrakta‘s successor. Despite the predictions that wanted Sara Jo or Zorja to win Pesma Evrovizije 2022, in the end, the unknown Konstrakta, with her unconventional song, with strange lyrics … beat her competitors by far and travelled to Turin, even winning fifth place there!

After this success, the interest in participating in Pesma Evrovizije 2023 proved to be great.

According to reliable sources of Kurir, an online news paper in Serbia, more than 900 applications for PZE 2023 have been received, which is an absolute record so far as far as this competition is concerned.

With the end of the submissions, the closing committee will listen to all the entries, so by the end of the year we will know the participants in the country’s upcoming national final.

Serbia: Extension of the submission deadline for Pesma Evrovizije 2023!

On September 1st, the Serbian public television announced the holding of a national final (Pesma Evrovizije) for the selection of the artist and the song that will represent the country at Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

At the same time, the deadline for submission of participations began, which, while it was scheduled to end on November 15, was extended by almost a month and is expected to end on December 1st.

Like last year, a national final will determine the act that will represent Serbia in Eurovision Song Contest.

At the 2022 contest in Turin, Italy, Serbia was represented by Konstrakta with “In corpore sano”. Serbia finished 5th in the Grand Final scoring a total of 312 points, giving the country its best result at the competition since 2012.

Switzerland: Internal selection for Eurovision 2023 | Submissions start on August 25th

As the Swiss German speaking national broadcaster (“SRF”) announced today, Switzerland will participate at Eurovision 2023, and its entry will be chosen through an internal selection procedure. As of 12 July 2022, Switzerland is the 21st country which has publicly confirmed its intention to participate in the 2023 contest.

Switzerland is once again relying on a panel consisting of 100 people, and an international jury of 20 music professionals. From August 25th to September 8th, songwriters, producers, artists and lyricists are invited to submit their songs for consideration. The Swiss entry for Eurovision 2023 is scheduled to be announced at the beginning of 2023.

The decision of Switzerland not to depart from the previous years’ selection procedure shall not come as a surprise. After the very successful performance of Luca Hänni at ESC 2019 and Gjon’s Tears at ESC 2021, as well as Marius Bear’s final qualification again in Turin, it wouldn’t be wise for the national broadcasters to experiment with alternative selection methods.

What song is the committee looking for?

According to the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest Swiss Regulations, the Swiss entry for Eurovision 2023 should be a “contemporary song that has international appeal and will stand out”. The lyrics should have “a strong, clear and easily understood message”.

The composers and songwriters are also encouraged to submit songs about themes that “reflect current events or those whose content will evoke an emotional reaction or a feeling of recognition” in the Eurovision audience.

Serbia: Konstrakta’s “In corpore sano” remains in Serbian For Eurovision!

Speaking to Blic yesterday after her triumph in Pesma za Evroviziju ’22!, Konstrakta confirmed that her song “In corpore sano” will remain in Serbian for the Eurovision Song Contest. Specifically, she says in the article that the song will remain in Serbian as when it was translated into English the lyrics no longer matched the rhythm of the song.

Konstrakta went on to add that the Serbian team is working to make sure the international audience understands the message of the song, explaining:

Whether it will be through subtitles, whether on those screens, we have to resolve this issue as we go along.

As for the direction of her performance, she is happy with the concept she presented at Pesma za Evroviziju’22:

We will stick to what has been set, it is quite well thought out and I think it works, there will be a change in the details, we are not going to change the concept. It is in our interest to make it look the best it can possibly be, because that is what our union is all about. There is no need to invent hot water.

Serbia: Detailed results of Pesma za Evroviziju ’22!

Last night Pesma za Evroviziju ’22, Serbia’s national final for Eurovision 2022 was completed successfully. After the jury and the public vote were combined, the winner was Konstrakta with the song “In Corpore Sano”.

A few minutes ago, Serbia’s public broadcaster, RTS, published the full results of the semi-finals and the final of Pesma za Evroviziju ’22.

First Semi-Final:

The difference between the winner Konstrakta and runner-up Sara Jo was greater than 20.000 votes showing the clear win of “In Corpe Se”

A few hours ago, through the her official YouTube channel, Konstrakta posted the video clip of her song.

Serbia will perform in the second semi-final and specifically in the first half of the night (songs 1-9).

Serbia has started the search for its representative and participation for Eurovision 2022. “Pesma za Evroviziju 2022”, as the Serbian national final is now called, consists of two semi-finals. A few minutes ago the Grand Final was completed.

The hosts of the show were Dragana Kosjerina and Jovan Radomir, being supported by Kristina Radenković and Stefan Popović in the Green Room.

The 18 songs that competed for the ticket to Turin are:

  5. Tijana Dapčević – Ljubi, ljubi doveka

The result was determined 50% by the jury and 50% by the televoting community. However, the jury of both semi-finals, according to RTS, will remain anonymous.

At the end of the voting, the big winner of the night was “Konstrakta”, with the song “In Corpore Sano”, receiving the absolute 12 points by both the jury and televoting!

We remind you that Serbia will appear in the first half of the second semi-final on 10 May.

Serbia has started the search for its representative and participation for Eurovision 2022. “Pesma za Evroviziju 2022”, as the Serbian national final is now called, consists of two semi-finals. A few minutes ago the second semi-final was completed, with 9 contestants qualifying for the next stage, the grand final, on Saturday 5 March.

The hosts of the show were Dragana Kosjerina and Jovan Radomir, being supported by Kristina Radenković and Stefan Popović in the Green Room.

Serbia: CHEGI & Braća Bluz Bend will replace Goca Tržan at Pesma Za Evroviziju 22!

A few hours ago, the Serbian broadcaster announced that Goca Tržan will not participate in Pesma Za Evroviziju 22! (Song for Eurovision 22!) for health issues. Her place will be taken by CHEGI with Braća Bluz Bend and the song “Devojko sa plamenom u očima” (The girl with flames in her eyes)!

CHEGI & Braća Bluz Bend have received the right to participate in the national final for the song that will represent Serbia in the Eurovision Song Contest, since they were next on the list according to the selection committee of the Serbian Radio and Television.

Serbia: Semifinals’ running order announced!- The songs will be revealed tomorrow!

More and more countries get gradually into Eurovision mood! This time Serbia has some things to announce.

The national broadcaster RTS, revealed the running order of the participations in the two semifinals and that the songs will be published on the 8th of February through the official YouTube channel “RTS Eurovision Song Contest”.

The order of appearance of the songs of the 1st Semifinal is:

  1. Sanja Bogosavljević – Priđi mi
  2.  VIS Lemonade – Love Song
  3. Zorja – Zorja
  4. Bojana Mašković – Dama
  5. Boris Subotić – Give me back
  6.  Ivona – Znam
  7. Bane Lalić and MVP – Where there is love, there is no darkness

Eurovizije 2022

The selection process for this year’s Serbian participation involves two semifinals on the 3rd and 4th of March while the final is scheduled for the 5th of March with Dragana Kosjerina and Jovan Radomir as hosts of these events.
