Sweden: A Swedish reality TV star ready to compete at Melodifestivalen 2024!

Torbjörn Ek and Stina Dahlgren, reporters at Aftonbladet did it again and revealed one more participating act for Melodifestivalen 2024! We remind you that last year, Aftonbladet revealed 24 out of the 28 acts of Melodifestivalen 2023, even before SVT announced the line-up officially.

Aftonbladet just revealed that the “Swedish Hollywood Wives” reality star Gunilla Persson is ready for the competition. Reportedly, the song will focus on her persona “The Gunilla“.

The rumours have been circulating since the 64-year-old Gunilla Persson, and her daughter Erika Persson, were spotted in the songwriter and producer Fredrik Andersson’s music studio at the record company Cardiac in Ystad earlier this fall.

Initially people thought that her daughter was set to compete at Melodifestivalen 2024, but well informed sources say that Gunilla will perform, solo. The song is written by Fredrik Andersson who, among other things, wrote the Melodifestivalen winner “If I were sorry” with Frans. Andersson also has a bit of an expertise at writing songs that capture personalities without making fun of the person in question or who performs them, such as Fran‘s “Who’s da man” (the Zlatan song). Her participation is guaranteed to be the talk of the town next year, says a person familiar with the matter.

We remind you that Melodifestivalen 2024 is scheduled to take place between February 3rd to March 9th, while SVT has received 2624 songs.

As you have read in one of our past articles, the final list of Melodifestivalen participants will be published on the 1st of December, at a press conference hosted by SVT at their headquarters in Stockholm.

Sweden: Marcus & Martinus are back at Melodifestvalen 2024!

Aftonbladet’s Torbjörn Ek and Stina Dahlgren surpised us tonight by revealing a couple more artists that will take part in Melodifestivalen 2024! We remind you that last year, Aftonbladet revealed 24 out of the 28 acts of Melodifestivalen 2023, even before SVT announced the line-up officially.

It seems like we will have a 2023 deja vu next year. Marcus & Martinus and Adam Woods, who impressed everyone with his first-time-on-stage performance with Jon Henrik Fjällgren and Arc North. Also Clara Klingenström returns for a second time after her debut in 2021.

Who are Marcus & Martinus?

They finished second to Loreen , got to sing for Crown Princess Victoria and are going on an arena tour this winter. Now Aftonbladet reveals that the Norwegian twins Marcus & Martinus Gunnarsen, 21, are returning to Melodifestivalen next year to try to repeat, and preferably surpass, this year’s success. Are they back to win the whole thing?

Who is Clara Klingenström?

Clara Klingenström, 28, will also return to the competition next year. She debuted in the competition in 2021 with “Behöver inte dig idag” and was awarded the same year with a Rockbjörn for this year’s breakthrough.

Who is Adam Woods?

In addition, several sources confirm that Adam Allskog, 22, is also ready for Melodifestivalen. In this year’s competition, he was praised for his singing efforts when he competed together with Jon Henrik Fjällgren and Arc North . Now, according to several sources, he has been given a place in Melodifestivalen as a solo artist, under his stage name Adam Woods.

Many artists are still waiting!

The new format of Melodifestivalen starting from 2024, with five sub-competitions and a total of 30 competing artists, is said to be the reason why this year there is a little delay in the announcements. According to sources, there is no deadline. This is how it always is. People feel stressed and wonder when the news will come. But there is no deadline, except for the day when all the names are presented. It’s just for everyone to wait.

We remind you that Melodifestivalen 2023 is scheduled to take place between February 3rd to March 9th, while SVT has received 2624 songs. The final list of Melodifestivalen participants will be published later this year, between end of November and beginning of December.

Loreen: Music video clip of Loreen’s brand new single “Is it Love” is out now! | Watch it here!

A few days after Loreen made her first step, post-Eurovision, by releasing her first single called “Is it Lovefrom her upcoming album, the music video of the song just got released on YouTube!

Loreen says about “Is it Love“:

“Is It Love” was born from a place of seeking clarity, it’s a song describing and contemplating a love that’s so deep but at the same time filled with confusion. It’s about realising that to create a deeper understanding of yourself you need to accept the duality of life, that distortion and clarity goes hand in hand and are equally as important. And to experience the depth of true love, both to the self as well as to others, you have to accept and experience the depth of pain.”

As a leading female diaspora artist, Loreen’s Moroccan Berber roots are embedded in her new cinematic pop sound now more than ever and flits between cultures. All this essence is obvious in the music video as well!

Sweden: Watch a clip of the stand-in rehearsal of Loreen’s “Tattoo”!

It is almost three months since the 67th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool. 37 performers stepped on the stage of the M&S Bank Arena giving it all and representing their countries in the biggest song competition in the world, after months of intense preparations.

The impressive stage performances that they pulled off were first tried on the Eurovision stage a few days before their arrival through simulations, known as stand in rehearsals. Stand in rehearsals are usually executed by local artists and performers so all participants can know in advance the television result of the performances. On a later stage, they have the opportunity to ask for changes during the technical rehearsals executed by the representatives themselves.

You can watch the stand-in rehearsals of the countries below:

A little while ago, the highly anticipated rehearsal of Loreen’s “Tattoo” was leaked online:

Loreen: This is the appearance of Loreen at the final of Germany’s Next Top Model | “Tattoo” is constantly successful at German charts!

Last Thursday, the final of the current season of Germany’s Next Top Model took place and ProSieben had invited the two-times-Eurovision-winner Loreen for a guest performance of this year’s winning Swedish entry “Tattoo“. Loreen was not on stage alone performing her song, but was supported by the five GNTM finalists, who did their catwalk in the hopes of getting crowned as Germany’s Next Top Model.

Loreen perfomed “Tattoo” while the five finalists had to go backwards at the beginning of the song and put on a coat and gloves on runway. The stage design with the falling pink leaves reminded of the romantic staging of Zoë‘s “Loi d’ici” at Eurovision Song Contest 2016 but also similar to the way there was snow at Loreen‘s “Euphoria” Eurovision performance! The performance is definitely worth seeing, also because “Tattoo” was presented in an unreleased extended version and Loreen once again was amazing and pitch-perfect!

You can watch Loreen‘s performance at GNTM below:

It goes without saying that the appearance for Loreen has also been worthwhile in terms of chart success. Since the Germany’s Next Top Model final, “Tattoo” has remained steady at No3 in the German iTunes charts while in the German Spotify Top 50 the song is currently constantly at No35.

These figures suggest that Loreen could also go even further up in the German single and radio charts next week, although things are already going well for the singer in both hit lists. In the Single Top 100 released yesterday, “Tattoo” loses only two places and is in 30th place more than a month after her victory at the Eurovision Song Contest. In the German airplay charts, the song continues to rise week after week, after the format radios of the ARD have now also jumped on the bandwagon, which had initially refused the song. In the radio charts  “Tattoo” climbs up 11 places up, from 51st place in the previous week to 40th place as we speak.

Sweden: Loreen is still making history on the contest!

This year’s winner of the 67th Eurovision Song Contest, Loreen, has returned the trophy back to her home country, Sweden. Along with her victory, she managed to continue making history in the competition, setting records on all streaming platforms.

The winning song “Tattoo” is oficially the fastest song of the competition in history to reach 100 milion streams on Spotify, within 91 days. The previous record was held by last year’s participation of Italy with “Brividi“, in 153 days.

https://twitter.com/esc_charts/status/1662749535314014208?s=20

Twenty-Four hours after the Grand Final, Loreen managed to be in the top 5 of the most streamed songs, entering the Spotify Global Charts, where to this day it remains the list for the top 50 most daily played songs in the world, leading in all European countries on the charts.

Beyond the streaming platforms, Loreen made history as she is the second contestant to win twice, tying Jonny Logan. In addition, it tied Sweden for the most wins in the contest with the Republic of Ireland (7 wins).
