Stefania: “Israel I love you and I hope to see you soon”!

Our beloved Stefania spoke on November 16 as part of the big concert in Amsterdam, Het Grote Songfestivalfeest, on euromix, answering whether we will see her soon at Eurovision, about her experience at the contest in 2021, but she also sent a message to Israel.

Stefania, who brought Greece back to the top 10 after 8 years in 2021, is looking forward to being at the competition again, while she is very grateful to her whole team for this achievement.

“At Eurovision 2021 I felt very honored that I was chosen to represent Greece at Eurovision. I am also very grateful and proud of my team. We did it, 10th place!

Having grown up in the Netherlands, but also writing a successful course in the country’s musical affairs, Stefania does not rule out representing her country of residence in the future.

I really want to go back! But who knows…this year it won’t happen anymore, it’s too close, but I’d love to do it for the Netherlands. I represented the Netherlands at Eurovision Junior, so it would be nice to represent them at Eurovision as well.

Sending her own message to Israel and her fans there, Stefania said:

I love you in Israel, I hope to see you soon, kisses!

Laura Tesoro: “I do not support Hamas, I do not hate Jews”!

Laura Tesoro, who sparked a storm of reactions, both positive and negative, with her move to raise the Palestinian flag at the concert given in honor of the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the EU by Belgium, is now coming to justify her move, saying that does not support the terrorist organization Hamas.

The big concert held in Mechelen, Antwerp, was marked by demonstrations by pro-Palestinian organizations, which even forced the intervention of the police. Laura Tesoro who sang at this concert, made a move that was commented on in various ways and about which you read in our previous article.

During her performance she raised the Palestinian flag, with some in the audience cheering and others reacting negatively. A little while ago, Laura Tesoro, who successfully represented her country in Eurovision 2016, reaching tenth place, justified her move, wanting to distance herself from Hamas, which runs the Palestinian enclave in Gaza.

Over the past couple of months, many Eurostars have expressed their views publicly on social media regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Palestine. Among them Eric Saade and La Zarra.

Belgium: Laura Tesoro raises the Palestinian flag at the concert for the Presidency of the Council of the European Union!

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union is held in rotation by the EU member states for one semester. The Presidency chairs meetings at all levels of the Council, ensuring the continuity of the EU’s work within the Council.

For the first half of 2024, the Presidency of the Council of the EU is assumed for the 13th time by Belgium. On the occasion of the celebration of the presidency of the European Union, a great concert took place last night in Mechelen, Antwerp, which was however colored by the war between Israel and Palestine, an event that is of particular concern to the entire planet.

Specifically, yesterday’s concert was interrupted for more than fifteen minutes by pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Specifically, dozens of activists had mingled with the crowd, holding flags and shouting slogans, to express their displeasure with the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and Europe’s stance. In fact, one of the activists strongly addressed the crowd, but was removed by the police.

Conductor Dirk Brossé tried several times to calm the spirits, but this had little effect. Also, singer Laura Tesoro, who represented the country at Eurovision 2016, with the song What’s The Pressure, taking 10th place, also tried to restore peace by raising a Palestinian flag. Skirmishes broke out in the crowd, while the police intervened with civilians.

On the other hand, the mayor of Mechelen, Bart Somers took the stage and called on the activists to show respect to the large crowd attending the concert.

“Everyone has the right to freedom of expression, but the people who come to the party also have the right to it. One day everything will be fine. Peace and love on earth”.

Finally, the head of the opposition Marc Hendrickx (N-VA), said he was ashamed of this action.

“I demand from the city council to reject them”.

Over the past couple of months, many Eurostars have expressed their views publicly on social media regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Palestine. Among them Eric Saade and La Zarra.

Eurovision: Which Eurostar wants Israel banned from the contest?

Israel’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 has already sparked considerable debate. While the EBU has stated that it has no intention of excluding the Middle Eastern country as well as the participating broadcasters from the competition, there have been numerous calls to exclude Israel from the competition due to its opposition to the competition’s ethics.

La Zarra, France’s representative in Eurovision 2023, has now been added to the list of artists who have publicly questioned Israel’s boycott. La Zarra, a French-Canadian artist of Moroccan descent, specifically asked her Instagram followers to weigh in on whether Israel should be barred from participating in Eurovision because of “the crimes against humanity it commits.

While her followers supported her and expressed their desire to ban Israel, she later expressed her own opinion on the topic, mentioning that:

During my participation in Eurovision, I had the privilege of meeting an extraordinary audience, made up of passionate people full of love. We were all united by the music, transmitting a message of peace and love, both from the participants and the audience. As expected, the whole country supported Ukraine, and Russia was excluded from the competition.

Unfortunately, we are once again witnessing a massacre, a genocide of the Palestinian people, and with attacks in Cisjordanie and Lebanon. We are witnessing a calculated and deliberate attempt to take control of the region.

Eurovision is a political competition, and I am aware that artists are extremely afraid to express themselves.

However, the public, the public has the power to move mountains if they want to. The audience I met is filled with love and strength, which is why I am appealing to you.

Let’s ban Israel from this competition, just as Russia was excluded, because of the atrocities it commits.

La Zarra, however, does not stop there. She then inspires her followers to take action and raise their voices in a barrage of social media posts condemning Israel’s genocide, citing:

Let’s not celebrate Evil.

Let’s be in the good side of history.

What do you think of La Zarra’s opinion on Israel’s participation in Eurovision 2024? Stay tuned to EurovisionFun for all the news!

Happy New Year to all!

A “Popular” eurostar take on Israel: “Israel is the most dangerous and disgusting nation in the world.”

Over the last couple of months, many Eurostars have expressed their views publicly in their social media, about the ongoing Middle-Eastern conflict between Israel and Palestine.

The SwedishLebanese superstar Eric Saade has been expressing his opposition to Israel on a daily basis, after Israel started their operations in Gaza. On one of his Instagram stories one day before Christmas, he described Israel as “the most dangerous and disgusting nation in the world“, on a story that can be seen below:

Saade was also one of the many Swedish stars that on the 20th of October signed a petition addressing the Swedish government, to condemn all violence against civilians and every violation of the international law.

Eurovision 2024

At the moment, Eric‘s role in next year’s Eurovision Song Contest is unclear. There have been rumours of Gina Dirawi leading the contest to be held in Malmö, Sweden, but it will be no surprise if the SwedishLebanese superstar is involved in the show in any way. It remains to be seen in the following weeks or months.

Who is Eric Saade?

Eric Saade is a SwedishLebanese singer and songwriter, born on October 29, 1990, in Kattarp, Sweden from a Swedish mum and a Lebanese of Palestinian origin father. With a career that spans pop, R&B, and dance music, Saade has been a notable presence in the Melodifestivalen, Sweden‘s annual music competition to select their Eurovision entry. His first foray was in 2010 with the song “Manboy” securing a respectable third place. The following year, in 2011, Saade not only competed but triumphed with the electro-pop hit “Popular” earning him the Melodifestivalen title and subsequently giving him the chance to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest in Düsseldorf, Germany.

His Mello-presence continued in 2015 when he returned with the song “Sting” finishing in fifth place. His final and fourth participation at the Swedish national selection process was in 2021, when he almost represented Sweden with the song “Every Minute” after placing second at the grand final.

In 2019 he was one of the presenters of Melodifestivalen and along with Sarah Dawn Finer, Marika Carlsson and Kodjo Akolor he performed an Israel mashup, following the Eurovision victory of Israel and Netta with the song “Toy“, which is something that, due to the latest circumstances, we will probably not see him do in the foreseeable future.

Eric Saade‘s Melodifestivalen journey showcases his versatility and enduring popularity in the Swedish music scene. His contributions to the music industry extend beyond Eurovision, as he has released several successful albums and singles, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the Swedish music scene.
