Estonia: The remaining 12 candidates for Eesti Laul 2020

Estonia’s public broadcaster has also announced the remaining 12 candidates for the Eesti Laul 2020, who will compete in the second semifinal. Unlike the names of the first semifinal, there are no audible appearances here, making this semifinal theoretically easier than the first.

During the ETV program, “Ringvaates”, the remaining 12 names, titles and composers / lyrics from the 24 total Eesti Laul 2020 entries are as follows:

Although in the second semifinal we will see returns of some previous Eesti Laul finalists, such as INGER, Synne Valtri and Jennifer Cohen, the names of this semifinal are by no means comparable to those of the former. All this, of course, on a theoretical level, since we haven’t heard the songs yet, since we’ll have to wait until 30/11 and 1/12 to get publicity.

The semifinals will take place on February 13 and 15 in Tartu, while the grand final will be traditionally held at Saku Suurhall in Tallinn, where Eurovision 2002 took place. Tickets are already on sale. Eesti Laul 2020 will be presented by Karl-Erik Taukar and Tõnis Niinemets.

Victor Crone was the winner of Eesti Laul 2019 and Estonia’s representative at Eurovision 2019. He performed “Storm” on Tel Aviv’s  stage and took 20th place.

During the ETV’s program, Ringvaates, the first 12 names and titles  from the 24 total Eesti Laul 2020 entries were announced.

Estonian radio and television, ERR, also released the names of the 14-member panel that selected the finalists, among the 178 entries filed, comprising people from the country’s music industry and the entertainment industry in general.

In the list below you will find the top 12 artists and candidate songs for Eesti Laul 2020:

Estonia: 178 songs submitted for Eesti Laul 2020|The 24 contestants to be announced on November 13 and 14

Slightly fewer songs were submitted for Eesti Laul 2020 than last year, according to Estonian public broadcaster. Of the 178 entries, the jury will now have to select the 24 to compete in the two Eesti Laul semifinals. The announcement of the song titles, as well as the performers and performers will take place on November 13 and 14.

High level at Eesti Laul 2020

Tomi Rahula, producer of Eesti Laul 2020, provided more information on the songs submitted for this year’s Estonian final. Although there have been fewer entries, the level is significantly ups he stated.

Of the 178 songs submitted, 76 are in Estonian and 102 in all other languages, with English of course being the most used foreign language.

What happens until the announcement of the participants?

A 14-member jury, made up of experts, will select the top 24 entries to compete in the two semifinals of the Eesti Laul 2020.

All the songs, singers and conductors who have reached the semifinals will be announced on ETV’s “Ringvaade” on November 13th and 14th, and on November 30th and December 1st we will be able to listen to them!

Estonia: On December 1st the 24 songs of Eesti Laul 2020 to be revealed

Estonian Public Television,EER, has announced more details about the national final of Eesti Laul, to be held on February 29, 2020. The most important piece of information is that on December 1 we will be able to listen to  all 24 songs that will be claimed the representation of Estonia at Eurovision 2020.

As in 2019, in 2020 twenty-four songs divided into two semifinals out of which only twelve will qualify for the Final.

Submissions have already started (on September 1st) and will end on November 6th. Selected songs and therefore nominees at Eesti Laul 2020 will be announced no later than November 22, and on December 1st we will be able to enjoy them!

All entries must be filed in their final form and not as a demo. The entry fee, if we could allow it, is 50 Euros for each song written in Estonian and 150 Euros when it is written in any other language.

The stage presence that will be used in the Eesti Laul final should be the same as that used on the Eurovision stage, just like Melodifestivalen.

Although not mandatory under the regulations, Estonian Public Television reserves the right to use online voting to select the winner, in addition to sms, telephone voting and, of course, jury voting.

The presenters of the Eesti Laul 2020 will be Karl-Erik Taukar and Tõnis Niinemets, the first being one of the presenters and last year’s Eesti Laul, while the second will be in this position for the first time.
