In Eurovision 2022 not only the participants of the 40 nations will have the chance to shine, but also the three hosts Laura Pausini, Mika and Alessandro Cattelan.

In an interview at the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Mika mentioned that he will not just host.

“I will also perform and I am thinking of a provocative performance. It will be a surprise. Eurovision is not just a show, it is like an Expo but concentrated in a few days.”

According to Wiwibloggs two of the three hosts, Laura Pausini and Mika will perform in a duet at the interval act of the Second Semi-Final, while the third host Alessandro Cattelan will have his own moment at the opening act of the very same Semi-Final.

“I don’t know, it never happened. But there are some things about Eurovision that I really liked. In England it has always been a sacred evening, first with the family, then in the pub with too many beers.”

Eurovision 2022: Ravenna as the next Location for Postcard Filming!

The shooting of the postcards for the 66th Eurovision Song Contest 2022 is continuing, with the city of Ravenna being revealed as the next location.

RAI started shooting the postcards related to the new slogan  “The Sound of Beauty“, in beautiful and picturesque locations throughout the country. After all, it is obvious that Italy has a variety of beauty in both mountainous and coastal areas.

Ravenna is the capital city of the Province of Ravenna. The city of Ravenna was founded back during the times of the Roman Empire and so has a rich history for viewers to see.

Locations known to feature in the postcards so far include:

  • Terni & the Marmore falls in Umbria
  • Civita di Bagnoregio in Lazio
  • Perugia
  • Naples
  • Venice

The postcards appear before the start of each entry in the competition, with each country having its own video. It is traditionally used to promote the host country of that year’s competition but also to present the singer or band that is going to participate.

In 2021 the postcard displayed all the artists in a small house in a unique place in the Netherlands. The artists filmed their presence in front of a green screen and then placed it on a house that was full of objects related to them.

The Eurovision Song Contest returns to Italy this year following Måneskin’s victory at the 2021 contest with their song “Zitti e Buoni”. The 2022 contest will be hosted on 10th, 12th, and 14th May at the PalaOlimpico in Turin. The contest was last held in Italy in 1991.

Below you can see the postcard of Italy, the winner of Eurovision 2021, in Rotterdam.

Armenia: “SNAP” is out now!

Rosa Linn will represent Armenia at Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with her song “SNAP”. The entry is written by Rosa Linn, Larzz Principato, Jeremy Dusoulet, Allie Crystal, Tamar Kaprelian & Courtney Harrell. The recording label behind the song is “Nvak Collective”.

LYRICS

[Verse 1]
It’s 4 am
I can’t turn my head off
Wishin’ these memories would fade
They never do
Turns out people lie
They say, “Just snap your fingers”
As if it was really that easy for me to get over you
I just need time

[Chorus]
Snapping one, two
Where are you?
You’re still in my heart
Snapping three, four
Don’t need you here anymore
Get out of my heart
‘Cause I might snap

[Verse 2]
I’m writing a song
Said, “This is the last one”
How many last songs are left?
I’m losing count
Since June twenty-second
My heart’s been on fire
I was spending my nights in the ring
Tryna put it out

[Chorus]
So I’m snapping one, two
Where are you?
You’re still in my heart
Snapping three, four
Don’t need you here anymore
Get out of my heart
‘Cause I might snap

[Post-Chorus]
Oh-oh-oh-ooh
‘Cause I might snap
Oh-oh-oh-ooh

[Bridge]
And if one more person says, “You should get over it”
Oh, I might stop talking to people before I snap, snap, snap
Oh, I might stop talking to people before I snap

[Chorus]
Snapping one, two
Where are you? (Where are you?)
You’re still in my heart (Still in my heart)
Snapping three, four
Don’t need you here anymore (Need you here anymore)
Get out of my heart
‘Cause I might snap

[Post-Chorus]
Oh-oh-oh-ooh (Snap)
‘Cause I might snap
Oh-oh-oh-ooh (Snap)
Get out of my heart
Oh-oh-oh-ooh
‘Cause I might snap
Oh-oh-oh-ooh (Get out of my heart, get out of my)
‘Cause I might snap

Russia: Polina Gagarina sang at Putin’s fiesta!

In addition to the letter “Z” and a banner with slogans in favor of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Polina Gagarina, took part in the pro-war fiesta organized by Vladimir Putin in Moscow on the anniversary of the annexation of Crimea.

Just behind the point where Vl. Putin at Moscow’s Luzinski Stadium for Crimea, there were two banners reading “ZA ROSSIA” and “ZA MIR WITHOUT NATIONALISM” in Russian, while on the giant screens it read “SVOIH NE BROSAEM”, “KOSB” and “ZA ПРЕЗИДЕНТА”.

The “Z” is the symbol of the Russians for the invasion of Ukraine. It is written on the tanks, armor and all motor vehicles used by the Russians in the invasion operations in Ukraine. However, the letter “Z” does not exist in the Cyrillic alphabet! The rest, that is, “ZA ROSSIA” translates (ZA) “Russia”, while “ZA MIR WITHOUT NAZISM” translates (ZA) “world without Nazism”. Essentially, the second is the main argument of Putin and the Russians for the invasion of the territory of Ukraine – the de-Nazification of the country.

Of course, the participation of Polina Gagarina in this fiesta of the Russian president caused a negative impression. Despite the fact that the Russian singer won second place at Eurovision 2015 with a song that praises peace and the solidarity of peoples, her subsequent behavior proves that she was not at all influenced by the message of her song.

You can see the appearance of Polina Gagarina in the concert, at 08.50:

We remind you that due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the EBU decided to exclude Russia from the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest. In response, Russia announced its withdrawal from the EBU.

Martin Österdahl: “We try to help Ukraine as much as possible”

Executive supervisor Martin Österdahl, and the executive producers of Eurovision 2022, Simona Martorelli and Claudio Fasulo have confirmed that Ukraine will compete at the Eurovision Song Contest despite the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

We are desperate about the situation in Ukraine like everyone else. And I’m sorry for our colleagues and lots of fans in Russia who are now not allowed to celebrate Eurovision. We are in very close contact with the Ukrainian delegation and we try to help them as much as possible through this tough time.

Ukraine will prepare the live-on-tape recording, in case they don’t make it to Turin in May. According to the Italian broadcaster Rai, Ukraine is planning to record the video somewhere near the border instead of the capital Kyiv.

Broadcaster UA:PBC find Eurovision very important and currently they are focused to help their country. In an interview with Reuters, Oleh tells that he has formed a 20-strong volunteer group to supply medicines and help people flee the war, while one of the Kalush Orchestra members is serving in the territorial defence unit.

Eurovision is very important to us but the life of our family and friends is even more important. So now we are doing everything possible to help our country. One team member of our band is fighting in the territorial defense in Kyiv. I have established a volunteer organization. We are helping people to find accommodation, move, find medicine. Our country has united to the maximum. All my friends and people I know keep helping one another, and we are all fighting as one cohesive mechanism. So I would like to ask you and urge everyone who can hear me to help us, speak up about this problem.
