Eurovision 2022: RAI unveiled the first designs of the stage!

RAI, the host broadcaster for the 66th Eurovision Song Contest, has unveiled the impressive stage our 41 artists will be performing on in Turin this May.

As you read in our exclusive article months ago, acts can look forward to taking to The Sun Within – an ambitious new stage concept based on the movements and light of a kinetic sun.

Eurovision fans will witness a spectacular stage with the ability to showcase theatrical motion, which is framed by water and will have a lush Italian garden lapping up the rays in front of it.

Multimedia artist and stage designer Francesca Montinaro is the creative talent behind the design, which will present each of our 41 participating artists in a unique way, as they perform their songs to the rest of the world.

The kinetic sun, source of spectacular movements and tricks of light, rules the stage and represents our Italian attitude: always on the move, rebellious, creative, welcoming, passionate, intuitive. We are the ones with the sun within, and this is our way to be in this world!

Viewers tuning in to the 66th edition of Eurovision Song Contest – taking place in Turin on 10, 12 and 14 May – can look forward to becoming immersed in a breathtaking new visual experience, alongside the usual diverse musical soundscape that Eurovision fans have long cherished the contest for. RAI enthuses that the stage is both classic and modern at the same time, and manages to blend the digital with the analogue, demonstrating a range of light and movement.

A positive development, of course, is that looking at the photos released today by RAI, we notice that there is a forecast for the presence of the audience, in front of the stage. Just like before the pandemic. Normalcy returns to the Eurovision contest!

Stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all the newss related to our favorite contest!

Iceland: Interview with Stefanía Svavarsdóttir | With a song about parental love in Söngvakeppnin 2022! (Video)

After the announcement of her taking in Söngvakeppnin 2022, Stefanía Svavarsdóttir speaks exclusively to EurovisionFun and Apostolis Matamis.

Stefanía Svavarsdóttir is one of the finalists of the national final of IcelandSöngvakeppnin 2022 with the song “Heart of Mine“.

I was called from the composer of the track, with whom I have collaborated in the past. He is fantastic and I decided to make this step without hesitation. I hadn’t even heard the song but I knew it would be great. Watching the contest last year with his daughter, she asked him when is he going to take part in the contest. He had never thought about it and he did it for her. “Heart of Mine”  speaks about the parental love towards their children. I also have two little kids and I honestly felt the song when I read the lyrics, they are wonderful! It means a lot to me.

In the semi-final of the national final, Stefanía as the rules want it, she will compete with the Icelandic version of the song “Hjartað mitt“:

We wanted, other than the English version, a little part in Icelandic. So that our children can understand by listening to it. Because a specific part is exclusively for them.

She has already started making preparations for the staging of the semi-final of  Söngvakeppnin 2022.

It will be a powerful performance. Thanks to the lyrics, it will be a personal performance and full of emotions.

Stefanía has taken part in the national final five more times, also by taking part in the vocals of a competing song.

From the competing songs, she likes Suncity and Sanna.

Her favorite Icelandic songs are that of  Selma (1999) and ICY (1986) while from the contest in general the song that stands out for her is that of Salvador Sobral (Portugal 2017).

If she could collaborate with a Eurostar that would be Marija Šerifović (Serbia 2007).

Sometime before the end of the interview, Stefanía Svavarsdóttir offered us a part of her song acapella.

Watch the exclusive interview with Stefanía Svavarsdóttir in the following video:

Russia: Dream Team is in Moscow in view of the final choice for the country’s representation!

The Dream Team (Dimitris Kontopoulos and Ilias Kokotos) is in Moscow, as we see through their social network accounts. This trip to the Russian capital is the most important one, in relation to the representation of the country in Eurovision 2022.

It is no secret that every second year, when channel Russia 1 undertakes the participation of Russia in the competition, the channel cooperates with the Dream Team, which in fact has brought them a lot of good results so far. It is also no secret that one of the names with which the Dream Team would like to collaborate for Eurovision 2022 is the superstar Klava Koka. In fact, Klava Koka was in Athens a few months ago, recording in the studio of Dimitris Kontopoulos, probably a potential song for the competition.

Of course, nothing should be taken for granted, since if the artist who Russia 1 has chosen does not satisfy the Dream Team as a choice, then it is not at all unlikely that they will eventually not be chosen for this year’s Russian participation.

It remains to be seen what the decisions of both the Russian public television and the Dream Team will be. The time for the final decision in Russia has arrived!

Stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all the developments regarding the Russian participation in Eurovision 2022!
