Romania: TVR on the country’s participation or not in the contest!

In the last few days, rumours have been circulating on the internet which claim that Romania will withdraw from the upcoming edition in Malmö, but this has never been confirmed by the responsible officials.

According to internet users, the main reasons why Romania will not participate are a lack of budget on the part of TVR and a general disappointment after last year’s result.

With the application period closing on 15 September, the only public response from the Romanian broadcaster was that “the matter is still under discussion”. Of course, broadcasters are not obliged to publicly declare their decision, as the EBU regulations allow them to withdraw their application without penalty until 11 October, after which date we will be in the clear of all participating countries.

Earlier today, members of the Romanian website Spectacola contacted TVR to understand the station’s intentions regarding the European Contest.

According to them, “TVR’s leaders are in discussions with the EBU, but the Eurovision issue has not been sufficiently examined to allow a definitive decision to be taken”.

It is therefore understood that a final decision on Romania’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 has not yet been made, with TVR highlighting:

“At the moment, we are in contact with the organisers (EBU) and all options remain open!”

Do you think that the Romanian delegation will after all be in Malmö? Let us know in the comments below!

Spain: Chanel will join Noa Kirel tomorrow at Tel Aviv!

The sold-out performance by Noa Kirel last night in Tel Aviv’s Yarakon Park was attended by an estimated 65,000 people. Noa demonstrated her incredible talent as a singer and performer not only to Israel but also to Europe. Eleni Foureira, a much-anticipated guest performer, sang her Eurovision-hit song “Fuego” with Noa during the concert, thrilling the audience.

Due to the concert’s overwhelming success and the fact that all of the tickets were sold out right away, Noa’s team decided to hold a second concert on September 23.

The concert is anticipated to be just as thrilling as yesterday’s event and will provide the audience with another pleasant surprise. Reliable sources claim that Noa’s team invited Chanel to perform with her tomorrow. Chanel was the Spanish representative in Eurovision 2022 and appears to have accepted the invitation to perform live tomorrow in Tel Aviv.

Chanel, as well as Eleni Foureira and Noa Kirel, caused pandemonium with her performance skills along with her latin rhythm and temperament in 2022, bringing Spain back to the top three for the first time since 1995.

Through the occasion of her concerts, Noa Kirel had the opportunity to share the stage with Eurovision performers that set the bar high, a bar that she overcame, and performers with whom she was also inevitably compared.

This is what we’ve been waiting for: Eleni Foureira and Noa Kirel perform “Fuego”!

As we informed you earlier, Eleni Foureira(Cyprus 2018) and Noa Kirel(Israel 2023) took the stage today for the first time together at Yarakon Park in Tel Aviv, on the occasion of the latter’s big concert.

The meeting of those two was explosive, and based on what we’ve seen so far, they indeed managed to set the packed Yarakon Park on “fire”.

No words needed, just enjoy:

Meanwhile, Noa performed her Eurovision entry “Unicorn” as well as many of her hit songs, making the crowd delirious.

The connection between the two Eurovision artists is obvious. Eleni Foureira represented Cyprus in 2018, taking the 2nd place, while Noa Kirel represented Israel this year, finishing 3rd. These two women caused pandemonium with their sleek performances on the Eurovision stage, setting the bar even higher for all dance entries.

However, there has been a connection between Eleni and Noa for years. In 2017, Noa Kirel released her big hit “Tikitas“, which is the Hebrew cover of the song “Ti Koitas” by Eleni Foureira. Behind the two versions, as well as other songs of both artists, is the composer Doron Medalie.

Australia: SBS in discussions with EBU regarding Eurovision participation!

The Australian public broadcaster, SBS, revealed today that they are in discussions with the EBU as far as the future participation at the Eurovision Song Contest in concerned.

Initially Australia were invited to participate for a one-off for the 60th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015. After finished in 5th place of the Grand Final – where they automatically qualified – the country were invited for the years followed until 2019 when a 5-year contract was signed between SBS and EBU allowing Australia to take part without an invitation.

However 2023 was the last year that Australia were able to do so, something that has already triggered questions in Eurofans circles regarding the participation of the biggest country of Oceania at the upcoming 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden.

SBS commented the following on the matter:

“Eurovision is a cherished part of the SBS family. Australia’s future participation in the song contest is currently in discussion. We understand Eurovision fans are eager for an update and appreciate their patience as we work through these next steps. We’ll confirm details as soon as we are able.”

The deadline for the nations to withdraw without any penalty is on 11th of October which means that there is still time for SBS and EBU to reach an agreement.

In 2023 Australia was represented by Voyager and the song Promise and after managing to win the Second Semi-Final, they finished in the top ten of the Grand Final and specifically in 9th place with 151 points.

What do you think the outcome of the negotiations between SBS and EBU? Will we see Australia in Malmö next year? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
