Alessandra Mele debuts on Spotify Charts in five countries!

Alessandra Mele has achieved an impressive achievement with her MGP song.  The singer is currently participating in MGP to represent Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest 

The song of Queen of Kings has reached to the Spotify Charts of five countries! Apart from her home country Norway, the song has reached the charts in Finland, Hungary, Sweden and Estonia. The song is also the first song of the current Eurovision season to received more than 2 million streams on Spotify.

Alessandra is one of the favorites to win this year’s MGP.  She competed in the first semi-final and has already qualified for the Grand Final.  The MGP final will take place next February 4th.

Slovenia: Joker Out will perform “Carpe Diem” at Misija Liverpool

The band Joker Out will perform their Eurovision Song “Carpe Diem” soon during a reveal show.

The filming of the show took place today in Ljubljana.  According to public broadcaster RTVSLO, Joker Out will perform “Carpe Diem” in Liverpool.  The song will be in Slovenian.

The Eurovision song will premier during the show Misija Liverpool on February 4th, 2023.  During the show we will join the band as they recorded their song in Hamburg, Germany.

Miša Molk will host the show.  She is also known for commenting the Eurovision Song Contest in Slovenia in 1992 and from 1996 to 2000.  She also announced Slovenia’s first points in 1993.

The Eurovision Song Contest has not been genre-defined or limited for a long time. We remain true to ourselves, regardless of where and when we perform,” Joker Out about their Eurovision Song

Slovenian acts Amaya (2011), LPS (2022), Nuša Derenda (2001) and Tomaž Mihelič (2002) will perform during the show.  Konstrakta (Serbia 2022) will also perform for Misija Liverpool.

LPS represented Slovenia in the first Semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song Disco.  Unfortunately they failed to make it to the final

Lithuania: The results of Heat 2 of “Pabandom iš naujo! 2023”!

Lithuania has started seeking its representative and participation for Eurovision 2023“Pabandom iš Naujo! 2023”, as the Lithuanian public television process is now called, consists of two qualifying rounds (Heats), two semi-finals and a final. A few minutes ago, Heat 2 was completed, with ten contestants qualifying for the next phase of the semi-finals.

The presenters of the evening were Giedraus Masalskis and Augustė Nombeko. In the Green Room the presenter was Richard Jonaitis.

With the jury already having voted, tonight the Lithuanian audience had the chance to see the live performances for the first time and vote for their favourites. The result was determined 50% by the jury and 50% by the TV audience.

Iceland: These are the entries of Söngvakeppnin 2023!

Iceland‘s public broadcaster RÚV will once again select the country’s participation in Eurovision 2023 through the national final Söngvakeppnin.

Among 132 songs, the experts jury was asked to select the 10 participants, who were recently announced in a special broadcast called #12 stig (12 points).

The 10 entries selected by the expert panel to compete in the semi-finals of Söngvakeppnin 2023, vying to represent the island of fire and ice at Eurovision 2023 are:

1st Semi-Final :

  1. BRAGI – Stundum snýst heimurinn gegn þér/ Sometimes the World´s Against You
  2. MÓA – Glötuð ást / Loose this dream
  3. Benedikt – Þora / Brave Face
  4. Celebs – Dómsdagsdans / Doomsday Dancing

Provided last year’s rules apply, all candidates will perform their songs in Icelandic in the semi-finals, while in the final they will be able to perform the English-language versions.

The 2 semi-finals will take place on 18 and 25 February. From each semi-final, 2 out of 5 contestants will qualify for the final, which will take place on 4 March. The jury may select as a wildcard one of the 6 disqualified artists to compete in the final.

There will be 2 rounds in the final. In the first round, the audience and jury will choose which 2 will qualify to the Super Final, where the winner will be chosen exclusively by the TV audience.

Iceland was represented at Eurovision 2022 by Systur and their song “Með hækkandi sól”, finishing 23rd with 20 points.

Norway: The results of the 3rd Semi Final of Melodi Grand Prix!

The third and last Semi-Final of 2023 Melodi Grand Prix, the show that is going to determine the Norwegian representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, took place tonight. 7 more artist gave it all on stage for the three last tickets that lead to the Grand Final on the 4th of February.

The hosts of the show were Arian Engebø and Stian Thorbjørnsen

The 7 contestants of the third semi-final were:

  2. Tiril – “Break It”
  3. Skrellex – “Love Again”
  4. Eline Thorp – “Not Meant to Be”
  5. Stig van Eijk – “Someday”

The voting lines opened after all the aforementioned artists had performed. The outcome of every show is solely in the hands of the televoters.

Moldova: Here are the 10 finalists from Etapa Națională 2023!

The Live Auditions stage from Etapa Națională 2023 has just finished.  The Moldovan national selection used to choose their representative for the upcoming Eurovision Song contest Contest has just ended.

Live Auditions took place in Studio 2 of Moldovan TV.

Live Audtions

A panel of experts alone evaluated the melodic line of the song, its originality, the vocal performance of the performer, but also the interpretation. Candidates’ costumes and stage appearance were not judged.  At the same time contestants have time for the necessary sound adjustments. The national final panel will be different from the Audition panel.

The ten finalists competing in the 4th of March to represent Moldova in Eurovision 2023 are:

During the Grand Final the audience and jury will have a 50%-50% voting power to choose which song will represent Moldova in Liverpool.

Norway: Heat 3 of MGP 2023 tonight!

The Melodi Grand Prix 2023 continues tonight, through which Norway will choose its representative for Eurovision 2023 which will take place next May in Liverpool, UK.

Format

Melodi Grand Prix 2023 consists of four shows: three heats and the grand final, from which the representative of the Scandinavian country in the 67th Eurovision Song Contest will emerge. Seven artists participate in each semifinal, with the best three of them in the ranking advancing to the final.

After three shows we will reach the night of the grand final, in which a total of nine artists will participate and claim the representation of Norway in this year’s contest.

Six artists have already secured their place in the grand final on February 4. These artists are:

Heat 3

Seven artists take part in tonight’s MGP 2023 heat vying for one of three “tickets” to the grand final of the Norwegian national selection. These artists are:

Moldova: Today the Etapa Națională 2023 Audition!

The process to select Moldova‘s representative for Eurovision 2023 begins today. The Eastern European country will use a national final for the first time in three years to select the artist to compete in Liverpool, but the process begins today with the Etapa Națională 2023 audition.

Format

Live auditions will begin on January 28th at noon, in the public television studios. The auditions will be broadcast live on the Moldova 2 channel and on its website, as well as on www.eurovision.md.

The score will be given exclusively by a jury. The composition of the jury will be known only on the day of the hearing. The panel will consist of an odd number of judges (three or five) and will be different from the national final panel.

On January 28, Moldova 1 channel will host a special show for the live auditions and announce the finalists who will take part in the national final. According to the rules, the ten artists with the highest scores in the live auditions will compete in the national final.

Last year, Moldova was represented for the third time by Zdob şi Zdub and the Advahov Brothers with the song “Trenuleţul” which finished in seventh place in the grand final and at the same time in second place in the public vote:

Lithuania: Pabandom iš naujo 2023 Heat 2 tonight!

Pabandom iš naujo 2023 continues tonight, the process of choosing the representative of Lithuania in Eurovision 2023. In the next five weeks, the Baltic country is called upon to choose the artist who will represent it in Liverpool at the 67th Eurovision Song Contest.

As it is known, Pabandom iš naujo 2023 consists of five shows: two heats, two semifinals and the grand final. The result for all 5 nights will be determined 50% by the TV audience and 50% by a five-member jury. For the first time, the judges will not be revealed, with the results announced at the end of each show to ensure that the audience’s vote is not affected.

Presenters of this year’s edition of Pabandom iš naujo are Giedrius Masalskis, Augustė Nombeko and Richardas Jonaitis.

Fifteen artists will compete in tonight’s second heat of Pabandom Iš Naujo 2023, with the ten best qualifying for the semifinals.

Sudden Lights:”We want the audience to have the feeling of a rock concert” | Exclusive Interview

The band Sudden Lights is participating in this year’s Latvian national final, Supernova 2023, in order to Wim the ticket that will lead them to the stage of Eurovision 2023. The band spoke exclusively to Bogiannos Apostolos and Matamis Apostolis from EurovisionFun about their participation in Supernova 2023, with the song “Aijā“.

They have known each other for many years, as they know each other from their common music school. The band had taken part in Supernova 2018 with the song “Just Fine” without  receiving the ticket for Eurovision, however as they stated this was the moment they entered the musical events of the country and indeed at a very young age. After this first attempt they got quite a few fans as well as many opportunities. For this year’s participation  at Supernova 2023, they themselves revealed to us:

“This year we have a very good feeling that we have something good to say and a strong message for both Latvian and European audiences!”

On the message behind their entry “Aijā”, the band stated that the song is a lullaby and that in the difficult times we live in, we all need a lullaby to be able to sleep. Then they revealed to us that the song was not written exclusively for the competition but during the preparation process of the new album they are preparing. About their stage performance at the national final, Sudden Lights said:

“On the semi-final stage we will be with our instruments and we want to bring the feeling of a rock concert on stage!”

Among their favorite Latvian entries in the contest, they mentioned the country’s first Eurovision entry, “Lucky Star“, as an important and emotional moment for their country. While as favorite entries of the competition they mentioned Maneskin and Barbara Pravi from 2021, as well as Alexander Rybak from 2009.

Finally they sang us a part of their song acapella .
