Slovenia continues searching for a representative for Eurovision 2022! The second semi-final of EMA 2022 was completed a few minutes ago, with six contestants following Batista Cadillac, July Jones, Manouche, David Amaro, Stela Sofia and Luma to the next stage of the grand final.

The presenters of the evening were Melani Mekicar and Bojan Cvjetićanin.

The artists who competed on the second semi-final were:

  3. Klara Jazbec – “Vse kar imam“

Slovenia: Second semifinal of EMA 2022 tonight!

EMA 2022, the slovenian national final for Eurovision 2022, continues today with the second semifinal, one week after the first one.

Twelve artists will take part in next Saturday’s grand final, with six of them already being known since last week. After the end of the second semifinal, the puzzle of the artists who will claim the representation of Slovenia in Eurovision 2022 will be “completed”.

Format

EMA 2022 consists of two semifinals and one final. In each semifinal, eight artists and two artists from EMA FREŠ compete for qualification to the final. The public vote selects three of the finalists and the jury selects the other three. In the final, a five-member jury (50%) and the public (50%) will decide which of the 12 finalists will represent Slovenia in Turin.

Six artists qualified from the first semifinal of EMA 2022 and will be competing in the grand final on February 19th. These artists are:

Slovenia: EMA 2022 first semi-final tonight!

One week after the completion of the EMA Fres, the EMA 2022 officially begins, through which Slovenia will choose its representative at Eurovision 2022.

EMA 2022 starts tonight with the first of the two semifinals, from which the first six finalists of the grand final of February 19 will emerge.

Format

We remind you that EMA 2022 will consist of two semifinals and a final. In each semifinal, eight artists and two artists from EMA FREŠ will compete for qualification to the final of the Slovenian national selection. The public vote will select the three finalists and the jury will select the other three. In the final, a five-member committee (50%) and the public (50%) will decide which of the 12 finalists will represent Slovenia in Turin.

Slovenia: The four winners of EMA FREŠ!

A little while ago, EMA FREŠ was completed and alongside it, the list of the finalists of EMA 2022, Slovenia’s national final for Eurovision 2022, is completed as well!

The hosts were Eva Boto (Slovenia 2011), Melani Mekicar and Arne Međedović!

Fourteen new artists competed today for the four spots left on the semi-finals of EMA 2022.

The 14 young artists were:

Juries decided upon the first two artists moving to the semi-final and the last two were decided using televote.

The Semi-Final Allocation Draw for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 took place in Palazzo Madama in Turin. Find out below in which of the 2 Semi-Finals your country will perform and vote in. The annual event was hosted by Carolina di Domenico and Mario Acampa.

The Semi-Final Allocation Draw and Host City Insignia Exchange are key milestones on the path to the Eurovision Song Contest each year.

During the ceremony, Ahmed Aboutaleb, Mayor of Rotterdam, passed on the Host City Insignia to Stefano Lo Russo, Mayor of Turin. The insignia key chain, weighing over 30 kilograms with the new addition of Rotterdam’s insignia, was handed over to Turin. The Italian city is now officially the Host City of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

Draw Procedure

The 36 countries competing in the semifinals were divided into six pots, based on the points they have exchanged in recent years. This is done in order to avoid, as much as possible, the alliances and bloc voting that appear every year in the voting.

Big 5

With the host Italy, directly in the final, along with the rest of the Big 5 (UK, France, Germany, Spain), the first part of the draw determined the semifinal that the direct finalists will vote.

Will vote in the 2nd Semi-Final:

  • Spain
  • Germany
  • United Kingdom

Their performance in the dress rehearsal will be shown in the semifinals where the six aforementioned countries were drawn to broadcast and vote. This was done at Eurovision 2016 for the first time, for reasons of equal visibility of the countries that are directly in the final and the countries that compete in the semifinals. Essentially, viewers watch each entry twice during the shows.

Allocation Draw

The draw of the countries for the two semifinals had two parts. In the first part, the 36 countries that participate in the semifinals, were drawn in which of the two will compete. 18 countries will compete in both the first and the second semifinal.

In the second part each country found out if it will appear in the first or in the second half of the semifinal that will compete. The exact order of appearance will be determined by the EBU and the producers of the show at a later time.

Great updates are coming from Slovenia! Dates of EMA 2022, presenters and the running order of the Semi-finals announced on Wednesday. The hosts for EMA 2022 will be Melani Mekicar and Bojan Cvjetićanin.

The Semi-finals of EMA 2022 will take place on February 5th & 12th while the Grand Final is set to begin a week later, on February 19th, 20:00 local time (CET) on TV SLO 1.
