Eurovision 2023: The viewing figures of Poland and Portugal for the Grand Final!

The official viewing figures for the contest that it was broadcasted in Poland and Portugal have been released with new viewing records compared to last year.

After the official counts, Saturday’s Grand Final was watched by 3.5 million viewers in Poland via the frequency of TVP1 and TVP Polonia. This is equivalent to 270 thousand more viewers than last year. Overall, the show recorded a 40% viewership rating as it was the first choice of the viewer that night.

Equally among the Portuguese audience, the show was very popular. Relatively speaking, it was the highest-rated program from the start to finish. In particular, it recorded an average of 1.05 million viewers throughout the night with the counters skyrocketing when the Portuguese entry was on stage with 1.272 million viewers and a 23.8% share. At the time of the reveal of the winner, the show reached at 39.4% viewership.

The audience of the both countries were agonised over the result in the contest, as the countries had qualified for the Grand Final and this was reflected in the dominance the show had in the viewing figures.

Portugal: Watch the official videoclip of Ai Coração!

Eurovision 2023 has officially started with the technical rehearsals of the 37 participating countries. Portugal with her participant for Eurovision 2023, Mimicat, already had its first rehearsal yesterday and the official videoclip of her entry, Ai Coração, was uploaded earlier on YouTube.

Portugal with Mimicat and Ai Coração participates in the 1st Semifinal on May 9, performing 5th. Mimicat’s second rehearsal is scheduled for Wednesday 3/5.

Portugal: José Carlos Malato and Nuno Galopim will be the commentators for Eurovision 2023!

Today, the two names who will do the Portuguese commentary for Eurovision 2023 were announced.

The reason for José Carlos Malato and Nuno Galopim to broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest through RTP1 National Channel. The news were announced by one of the two commentators on the Portuguese show “A Nossa Tarde”.

For the sixth year in a row, Nuno Galopim will commentate this year’s competition from Liverpool. Nuno is a writter, actor and director known in the Portuguese art scene. Meanwhile, José Carlos Malato will make a strong return to commentary after missing last year’s competition after testing positive for COVID-19. José is known to local eurofans as the host of Portugal’s National Final Festival da Canção.

This year, Portugal is represented by the singer Mimicat, who won the Portuguese National Final with the song “Ai Coração”. Mimicat will appear fifth, in the First Semi-Final on May 9th.

Portugal: Mimicat performs “Future Lover”

The Portuguese representative in this year’s Eurovision Mimicat has give us her rendition of the Armenian entry “Future Lover”.  Mimicat has shared this sweet moment on her Instagram personal account.  She also wrote a message to the Armenian representative, Brunette, saying she is waiting to meet her at the Eurovision party in Madrid.

Portugal: detailed results for Festival da Canção 2023 out now!

The Festival da Canção 2023 , the Portuguese national final for the 67th Eurovision Contest has finished last saturday . For the night of the final Mimicat was the clear winner with the song “Ai Coração” after she won both the jury’s and the TV audience’s vote.

However, the same did not happen for the first semi-final where she also participated.  Although “Ai Coração” ended in first place among the audience, the juror placed her in fourth place among the other 10 entries in the semi-final.

Here are the detailed results of Festival da Canção 2023:

First Semi-Final – 25 February 2023


Second Semi-Final – March 4, 2023


Final – March 11, 2023

Portugal will participate in the First Semi-final.  More specifically, Mimicat will perform her song in the first half of the evening (between 1 and 7 position).

Portugal: With Mimicat and “Ai Coração” in Liverpool!

Some minutes ago the Grand Final of Festival da Canção 2023, the last national final of the season, has ended! The show took place at RTP studios in Lisbon and was broadcast via the country’s national broadcaster, RTP.

The presenters

The hosts of the night were Filomena Cautela, Vasco Palmeirim and Inês Lopes Gonçalves.

The 13 songs that claimed the ticket to Liverpool are:

At the end of the competitive part, Eurovision 2017 winner Salvador Sobral got on stage and performed some of his songs.

Shortly afterwards, Maro appeared to perform “Saudade, saudade“, the song that gave the country the 9th place last year.

The final result was determined 50% by the jury and 50% by the TV audience.

The jury voting has been determined as follows:

The tie between the top two was not resolved and so both Mimicat and Edmundo shared the first place.

Portugal: Festival da Canção 2023 Grand Final tonight!

The Festival da Canção 2023 finishes tonight, through which Portugal will choose its representative at Eurovision 2023.

The Portuguese national selection will take place on three different nights: two semifinals on February 25th and March 4th and the grand final on March 11th.

Contestants

Thirteen artists are participating in tonight’s final of the Festival da Canção 2023. These artists are:

  1. Cláudia Pascoal – “Nasci Maria”
  2. Churky – “Encruzilhad”
  3. Esse Povo – “Sapatos de Cimento”
  4. Bárbara Tinoco – “Goodnight”
  5. You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown – “Contraste Mudo”
  6. Voodoo Marmalade – “Tormento”
  7. Inês Apenas – “Fim do Mundo”
  8. Mimicat – “Ai Coração”
  9. Dapunksportif – “World Needs Therapy”
  10. NEOH SOHO – “Endless World”
  11. Ivandro – “Povo”
  12. Edmundo Inácio – “A Festa”
  13. SAL – “Viver”

The final result will be determined 50% by the vote of the Portuguese public and 50% by the vote of the jury.

Presenters of the Grand Final of the Festival da Canção 2023 are Filomena Cautela, Vasco Palmeirim and Inês Lopes Gonçalves.

Portugal: The results of Semi-Final 2 of Festival da Canção 2023!

Some minutes ago, the Second Semi-Final of Portugal‘s national final though which their Eurovision 2023 representative is being selected, has been completed. The show took place at RTP studios in Lisbon, while the presenters of the night were Sónia AraújoJorge Gabriel and Inês Lopes Gonçalves.

The jury that is voting in the semi-finals is composed of:

  • Alex D’Alva (songwriter at Festival da Canção 2019 and 2021)
  • Carlos Mendes (representative of Portugal in Eurovision 1968 and 1972)
  • Márcia (participant in Festival da Canção 2017)
  • Maro (representative of Portugal in Eurovision 2022)
  • Neev (participant in Festival da Canção 2021)
  • Pedro Ribeiro (radio host)
  • Sara Correia (singer)
The ten songs that claimed the six tickets for the final are:

Results:

The five of the six finalists were determined 50% by the jury and 50% by the TV audience. One sixth song was selected in a second round via televoting. The exact ranking of the artists by both the jury and the TV audience was not announced at the end of the evening. The detailed results will be made public at the end of the festival.
