Italy: Biggest TV viewership since 2005 for the Prima Serata of Sanremo 2022!

The 72nd edition of Sanremo started incredibly yesterday Tuesday, February 1st. Nearly 11 million viewers tuned in to RAI, 54% of all TV viewers. It was the highest viewership for the Festival since 2005!

11 million viewers for the Prima Serata of Sanremo 2022

The first night of the Sanremo festival attracted 10,911,000 viewers and a share of 54%. Last year, during the pandemic, in an empty Teatro Ariston stadium audience-wise, viewership was lower. Excellent result therefore for Amadeus and his renaissance festival that surpasses its previous viewership performance. In fact, for the first night of the pre-pandemic 2020 festival, viewrship was at 52.2% with 10.058.000 viewers.
We have to go back to the 2005 Festival hosted by Paolo Bonolis with Antonella Clerici and Federica Felini, when the average share of the debut night was 54.78%, to find a more successful Prima Serata than yesterday’s!
Regarding the competition last night, the show did not really bring any surprises, since the favorites were in the first three places. All the songs are already available on all streaming platforms, while their music videos are available on YouTube as well. We are looking forward to today’s second night, where Elisa seems to be the favorite.

Mahmood & Blanco with “Brividi” were in first place yesterday:

La rappresentante di lista with “Ciao ciao” came second:

Dargen D’Amico with “Dove si balla” came third:
