Cyprus: In Eurovision 2022 with Andromache and the song “Ela”!

Through the evening show from RIK1, “Ola ston Aera“, Cyprus’s entry for Eurovision 2022, named “Ela” (Come) by the talented artist Andromache, was shown for the first time.

In the first broadcast through the show, we had the opportunity to listen to the song that Andromache will sing at the upcoming Eurovision for the first time.

You can listen to the song  in the website of Panik Records.

Ela” will be available in all digital music platforms in Friday, March 11. On the same day, the music video will premiere in the official YouTube channel of Panik Records.

The Directors of the Song:

The song is written by the Greek-Swedish Alex P, known for his a lot of participations in the competition, Greece 2007, Azerbaijan 2009, Cyprus 2018, Cyprus 2019

The team is completed by Nikos Giouletzis, a well-known musician in Greece with many and great collaborations, but also Fatjon Miftari, a music producer from Albania.

The lyrics are written by the known Cypriot song writer George Papadopoulos.

The participation of George Papadopoulos in the whole project, comes to confirm everything that the leaders of RIK said in the past, that there will a strong Cypriot color, in this year’s song .

We remind you that RIK has already announced as artistic director of its participation in the next competition, Marvin Dietmann, from Austria, who was responsible for the staging of both Austria’s winning performance in Eurovision 2014 with Conchita Wurst, as well as the jury vote winner in Eurovision 2018 with Cesár Sampson from Austria.

Cyprus in Eurovision Song Contest:

This is the 38th participation of Cyprus in the competition, which is now the country with the most participations without a win. Debuted in 1981 with Monika and an impressive sixth place. Until the end of the 90’s, Cyprus managed to be in the top ten of the final score, on a regular basis. However, from 2004, when the semi-finals were introduced started and until 2014, it managed to cross the reef of the semifinals, in only three cases!

The above has changed drastically since 2015 and since then, Cyprus has qualified for every final. The peak of all this good course, was of course the second place in 2018 with Eleni Foureira and “Fuego”.

Last year Cyprus was represented by Elena Tsagkrinou and the song “El Diablo.

What do you think about the Cypriot entry in this year’s contest? Stay tuned on Eurovisionfun for all the news regarding Cyprus’ participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy!

Cyprus: RIK’s announcement for the Eurovision 2022 song!

With a relevant trailer, RIK informs us about everything we already know. The song that will represent Cyprus in Eurovision 2022, as well as the artist and the composition team of the participation, will be announced on Wednesday, March 9.

As we have already informed you, the song will be released on Wednesday, March 9, through the show of RIK Ola Ston Aera. What impresses us, admittedly, is what is mentioned on OGAE Greece, for the further release of the song on the various platforms. According to what OGAE Greece broadcasts, the song will be broadcast for the first time on Wednesday at 15.30 cet, through RIK’s show, Ola Ston Aera. It will then be uploaded to Panik’s website and social media on March 10 and released on March 11 on all music platforms.

Practically, the above means, if it is valid, that on Wednesday, March 9, the only way to hear the Cypriot participation is through the RIK show, since the song will be available on music platforms after two days. Of course, it remains to be seen if this will indeed be the time sequence:

  • 9/3: Announcement from All In the Air – RIK1 (16.30)
  • 10/3: PANIK website
  • 11/3: Other music platforms

As we have already informed you, the recording of the song took place a few days ago in Athens, where Andromachi, who will represent Cyprus, entered the studio and completed the recording of the song.

The songwriter Alex Papaconstantinou was also there. The song of Cyprus has strong ethic elements, which as lifeNewscy knows, will be enriched with bouzouki, to have a more “Greek” sound! The lyrics are signed by George Papadopoulos, while the word “Ela” dominates.

The shooting for the video clip of the song took place on Saturday, March 5.

So make an appointment on Wednesday, March 9 for the announcement of the Cypriot participation in Eurovision 2022!

Cyprus: The announcement of the song on March 9!

Cyprus: Is Giorgos Papadopoulos involved with the Cypriot entry?

By Sunday 13 March, all countries that haven’t announced an artist and song for Eurovision 2022 will have to do so. Among them is Cyprus, which play their cards close to their chest this year, waiting until the last moment to make the official announcement.

What do we know as of now?

Although nothing has been officially announced by the Cypriot broadcaster, RIK, what appears to happen thus far are the following:

  • The country will be represented by Andromachi from PANIK Records.
  • The song is signed by Alex P and his team.
  • According to what Andromachi has stated lately, it is a song with a mix of traditional and modern sound.
  • The song might have some Greek lyrics.
  • The artistic director for the second consecutive year will be Austrian-born Marvin Dietmann.

Is George Papadopoulos a part of the Cypriot team?

Based on some of our latest information, RIK will announce that the well-known Cypriot singer-songwriter Giorgos Papadopoulos is included in the composing of the Cypriot entry.

The participation of Giorgos Papadopoulos in the whole project, comes to confirm everything that RIK said in the previous months, that in this year’s Eurovision, there will be a strong Cypriot colour.

We remind you that two years ago, in an exclusive statements by the artist’s manager to Eurovisionfun, it was mentioned that Giorgos Papadopoulos was against representing his country as a performer, but not as a composer or a lyricist.

Right now, I think he wouldn’t want to be the performer, but he would certainly want to be the lyricist and the composer of the Cypriot entry.

We are anxiously awaiting for the official announcements of RIK for this year’s Cypriot participation! Cyprus will compete in the first half of the second semi-final of Eurovision 2022, hoping for its seventh consecutive qualification to the final.

Cyprus: Fatjon Miftari producer of the Eurovision entry?

While RIK continues to keep its papers closed for Eurovision 2022, a story posted by Alex P on his profile, perhaps betrays the fact that Fatjon Miftari, a well-known Albanian producer, is working with Alex P for the Cypriot participation in this year’s competition.

We know little about this year’s Cypriot participation. Everything shows that Andromachi from PANIK Records, will represent Cyprus in Turin, with a song composed by Alex P. It seems that the group is completed by Nikos Giouletzis, a well-known musician in Greece with many important collaborations, but also Fatjon Miftari music producer from Albania. His latest release was Lajkat by Angela Peristeri, last year’s Albania’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest.

RIK is expected to announce both the name of the artist and the song at the end of the deadline set by the EBU to the participating countries of Eurovision 2022, ie shortly before Sunday, March 13.

Cyprus: Andromachi To Represent the Nation at Eurovision 2022?

Greek singer Andromachi is rumored to have been chosen as the nation’s representative for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Lately, the scenarios for the successor of Elena Tsagrinou, are on fire, as more and more names were on the table for the representation of the island in this year’s Eurovision, but it seems that the final decision has been made.

In contrast to other years, RIK has been late in announcing the artist who will represent it at the upcoming Eurovision, as it was first looking for the right song and later the singer, who will perform it.

According to the Cypriot radio show “Good Morning Show”, the name of the singer that will represent Cyprus ends with “machi”. This information comes after the denial of the rumor that appointed Ivi Adamou as Cyprus’ representative. CyBC has yet to state when an announcement will be made regarding the nations entry.

Specifically, the journalist stated that the song is ready and the signatures have fallen. According to him, the representative of the island of Aphrodite, for this year will be Andromachi Dimitropoulou.

See the full report in the video below:

This year, Marvin Dietmann and Dan Shipton will be the artistic team behind the Cypriot participation for Eurovision 2022.

Who is Andromachi?

Andromachi Dimitropoulou, simply known as Andromachi, was born in 1994 in Manheim, Germany. She rose to fame in 2015, when she participated in the Greek version of The Voice. Even if she just made it to the live shows, she immediately became a huge star in Greece. Among her singles, the most remarkable ones are “Na Soun Psema”.

Cyprus: Proposal to Ivi Adamou for Eurovision 2022?

Through the noon show of Alpha Cyprus, “With love Christiana”, further revelations were made regarding the participation of the island of Aphrodite in Eurovision 2022.

Specifically, the journalist, Haris Papatheocharous, referred to the rumors but also to what you read first to us, about the involvement in this year’s Cypriot participation of the Greek-born creator and producer based in Sweden, Alex P.

However, what was emphasized is that RIK has not yet reached either the song or the artist who will be in Turin.

Finally, he referred to the scenario of Ivi Adamou, a name that we talk about every year, saying that a proposal has been made to the young singer to represent Cyprus again, after ten years.

Cyprus: Marvin Dietmann & Dan Shipton to Stage Eurovision 2022 Performance!

Today, Marvin Dietmann posted on his Instagram stories that he and Dan Shipton will be the artistic team behind the Cypriot participation for Eurovision 2022.

Unlike other years, RIK has been late in announcing the artist who will represent Cyprus at the upcoming Eurovision, as the right song must be found first and then the singer.

What has been mentioned by the Cypriot delegation is that this year’s participation will have a Cypriot color. It does not necessarily indicate the participation of a Cypriot artist as a representative but more broadly in the creative team of the song.

So far, RIK has not reached either the song or the artist who will be in Turin, however the search continues.

Cyprus finished in 16th place last year, with Elena Tsagrinou performing the song “El Diablo”.

Eurovision 2022: Here are the results of the allocation draw!

The Semi-Final Allocation Draw for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 took place in Palazzo Madama in Turin. Find out below in which of the 2 Semi-Finals your country will perform and vote in. The annual event was hosted by Carolina di Domenico and Mario Acampa.

The Semi-Final Allocation Draw and Host City Insignia Exchange are key milestones on the path to the Eurovision Song Contest each year.

During the ceremony, Ahmed Aboutaleb, Mayor of Rotterdam, passed on the Host City Insignia to Stefano Lo Russo, Mayor of Turin. The insignia key chain, weighing over 30 kilograms with the new addition of Rotterdam’s insignia, was handed over to Turin. The Italian city is now officially the Host City of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

Draw Procedure

The 36 countries competing in the semifinals were divided into six pots, based on the points they have exchanged in recent years. This is done in order to avoid, as much as possible, the alliances and bloc voting that appear every year in the voting.

Will vote in the 2nd Semi-Final:

  • Spain

Their performance in the dress rehearsal will be shown in the semifinals where the six aforementioned countries were drawn to broadcast and vote. Essentially, viewers watch each entry twice during the shows.

Allocation Draw

The draw of the countries for the two semifinals had two parts. In the first part, the 36 countries that participate in the semifinals, were drawn in which of the two will compete. 18 countries will compete in both the first and the second semifinal.

In the second part each country found out if it will appear in the first or in the second half of the semifinal that will compete. The exact order of appearance will be determined by the EBU and the producers of the show at a later time.
