Finland: Listen to Danny’s song for UMK 2021!

Some mintes ago, the Finnish broadcaster YLE released the third song of UMK, the country’s national final for Eurovision 2021. It is Danny’s song, “Sinä päivänä kun kaikki rakastaa mua”.

“Sinä päivänä kun kaikki rakastaa mua” (The day everyone loves me) is a song with a unique and melancholic rhythm that according to Danny, is not a farewell song. Lkka Johannes Lipsanen, born September 24, 1942, known as Danny, is a Finnish singer and guitarist. Although you may not believe it he is still active in the song industry. Danny’s career is one of the longest in Finland and it is certainly over 50 years old. He has recorded many successful songs. He has done thousands of concerts in more than 20 countries around the world and has collaborated with the best Finnish composers and producers since the 60’s. With over 100 songs in the top charts of the country.

It’s about how life is a gift, but how you can never be sure how long it will last – only that it will end. My song aims to be humorous with a real theme. Although its lyrics may not represent Eurovision, it is an ambitious endeavor that represents a perspective rarely approached in pop music.

EBU releases Eurovision 2021 new branding!!

At the end of 2020, EBU revealed Eurovision 2021 new logo. Now EBU releases the fully new branding design for the next contest in Rotterdam, alongside with the relevant design patterns that will decorate Rotterdam in the upcoming May.

The colour palette used, is based on the flags colours of the participating countries, mostly primary colours. They are also combined with additional colours like pink, purple, light green which EBU says emphasise the festivity.

Moreover, the branding incorporates six patterns which include features of the Netherlands: landscapes, water, bridges, fields, creativity and resilience. Worth to be mentioned is the fact that there is not a single windmill. Those symbols where chosen so that people outside the Netherlands can be familiar with them as well.

The Branding of Eurovision 2021 will include The Track.

The aforementioned patterns will be used in backgrounds as well as in an additional part of the 2021 branding which is called the Track.

The Track takes its cue from the rays of the logo. It is made up of a number of triangular shapes which together form a long pathway type of design. The EBU says it’s based on the “symbol and perspective” of the Rotterdam stage design.

Italy: No audience in Sanremo 2021 or transfer for later!

The future of Sanremo 2021 remains uncertain, as the current Italian press reports that RAI has rejected plans to hold the festival on the dates already announced, with an audience on the stands of the Teatro Ariston. The two options that Amadeus now has are the Sanremo on March 2 to 6 but without an audience or its postponement for April at least.

The plans to create a protective shield around the people involved in Sanremo and to stay on a cruise ship throughout the festival so that they have no other contact with the rest of the world seem to be permanently rejected by the RAI.

According to the trustworthy Il Messaggero, the two scenarios that are now being considered are the following:

  • The Sanremo 2021 will take place on the announced dates (March 2 to 6), but without the presence of the audience.
  • The postponement of the festival for April onwards, where they hope that the presence of the audience will be possible, since there will be more time for the vaccination.

In the event of course that the second scenario prevails, then Italy will have to choose its representative in the Eurovision Song Contest in a different way, since the meeting of the Heads of Delegations will take place on March 15 and until then the 41 countries participating in this year’s contest should have completed the procedures for the song selections.

Stefania: “I will take the 12 points from The Netherlands”! (Video)

In the show of the TV station SKAI, Love It with Ioanna Maleskou, Stefania and one of the composrs of “Last Dance”, Dimitris Kontopoulos, were connected live a while ago.

Directly from Amsterdam, where the recording of the greek entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest is taking place, they talked about the song and the upcoming contest.

Regarding “Last Dance”, Dimitris Kontopoulos stressed that:

Yesterday’s recording went very well and we have a few more hours left tonight in Rotterdam. “Last Dance” is a pop track with some 80s elements, a modern track in a genre that is currently playing around the world. The message of the song is that sometimes, we think the end has come, and when that comes there is always a new beginning. It is optimistic, it can be called “Last Dance” but in essence it conveys the message that… this is not the last dance!

Stefania in turn expressed her joy that she will represent Greece in the contest:

They ask me why I am not participating again for the Netherlands and I answer that I have already represented the Netherlands (in JESC) and now I want to go and bring something better for Greece. I know that Fokas will help me a lot and we will bring a good result for Greece.

Dimitris Kontopoulos, jokingly when asked by a journalist whether there will be a Greek element in the song, said that:

The dancers on stage will be Greek, the Greek flag will be everywhere I hope, when we get the points. This will be the Greek element!

Stefania was sure that she will get the 12 points from the Netherlands, the country that was born and lives with her family.

I will get the 12 points from the Netherlands!

At the end of the interview, Stefania gave us another flawless interpretation of last year’s song, “SUPERG! RL”.

You can watch the whole interview in the video below (it’s in Greek):

Finland: Listen to Teflon Brothers x Pandora’s song for UMK 2021!

Recently, the Finnish broadcaster YLE released the second song of UMK, the country’s national final for Eurovision 2021. It is the song of Teflon Brothers x Pandora, “I Love You”.

“I Love You” is not just an instant catchy melody, it aims to help people better express their feelings and become more open and courageous.

We are the Teflon brothers and we represent the people of Finland. And what better way to represent your audience than to be officially crowned Finland’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest?
Our mission is to bring people to joy, celebration and love. We want to tell everyone that love does not care about the language you speak or your appearance. It is the power of non-verbal cues or, as Pandora likes to call it, mental interaction.

The Teflon brothers have been holding the party in Finland for over a decade and now they want to bring their message of love all over Europe!  The idea for I Love You and participating in the UMK has been around for a long time. The seeds of cooperation between the Teflon brothers and Pandora were planted four years ago, in a random meeting behind the scenes.

The seven artists who will claim the golden ticket to Rotterdam are:

Oskr – Lie
Teflon Brothers x Pandora – I Love You
Danny – Sinä päivänä kun kaikki rakastaa mua
Laura – Play
Aksel – Hurt
