The Netherlands: AVROTROS announced participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, with alt-pop artist S10!

A few minutes ago, the Dutch national broadcaster AVROTROS announced that Stien den Hollander, known by the stage name S10, will represent The Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, with a Dutch song.

S10 appeared at a YouTube video, practically announcing her participation at the contest representing The Netherlands, to the masses of eurofans:

It gives me courage.
Music is for me the most important thing there is.
For anyone who’s experienced the lows,
or the highs.
For those who dance in front of the mirror,
or prefer to stay out of the light.
I am S10.
And I am performing on behalf of the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest.

You can watch the video below:

Who is S10?

S10, 21 years old, is currently one of the leading alt-pop and rap artists in The Netherlands. She signed her first record deal with Noah’s Ark label at the age of 17. Subsequently, she released her debut album named “Snowsniper” in 2019, leading her to winning an “Edison Award”, the most prestigious Dutch award.

A second album release named “Vlinders” followed, the year after, in 2020 and also a sold-out tour and multiple chart-topping singles.

S10 shares with her fans her most personal stories by spoken word, rapping and singing. For her, it is important that personal feelings and stories are conveyed to the public in her mother tongue. That means that she will sing in Dutch, as also announced by the Dutch broadcaster.

She has collaborations with some of the biggest names in The Netherlands, reaching millions of streams on all major music streaming platforms and earning fabulous reviews, from music critics.

S10 said of her selection:

Music is everything to me. I hope my music can bring something to other people’s lives, simply because it has done so much for me. Which is why I could almost explode with joy at the idea that I’ll be taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest this year. In front of such a massive audience, being able to do something that’s such an honour while representing the Netherlands… I think it’s absolutely wonderful.

Eric van Stade, general manager of AVROTROS, added on behalf of the selection comeetee:

S10’s song displays guts and authenticity. While normally we don’t reveal anything at this stage beyond the artist’s name, this time I dare to make an exception. S10 remains true to herself and her unique style. This means that, having selected English-language entries for the last 11 years, we’re now sending a Dutch song to the Eurovision Song Contest. We’re sticking our necks out with this choice, which the selection committee is behind unanimously. It promises to be another very special edition for the Netherlands.

More details will be revealed soon.

Below, you can find some of her already released songs:

Lithuania: The Roop will not participate in Eurovision 2022!

After playing for a while with the anguish of their fans, The Roop in their statements today, dispel the gossip (which they themselves started) and wanted them to try another participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, next year.

Ever since the Eurovision final took place in Rotterdam in May, we have been receiving requests to return to the national final and participate again and again. We do not say no and we do not burn bridges or close the door on this idea. However, this may not happen this year (we are talking about 2022).

Eurovision has taught us a lot. There must be fun in an international context. As a result, we had to take a broader look when we got there.

We also want to share some experiences with new participants. Here, it is not only the song that matters, but also how you present it – the image has to match the song… Just feel what you want to say and follow it… Eurovision is not a goal, but a great start. So do not give up, no matter how successful you are.

We are very happy that Eurovision fans all over the world have us in their hearts. It is a united family full of good feelings, where we feel comfortable!

We remind you that these rumors started last week, when on the occasion of the release of their new song, which lasts exactly three minutes and was accompanied on YouTube by the description: Eurovision 2022, the well-known band avoided giving a clear answer to the question, whether they will participate again in the “Pabandom iš naujo”, through which the selection of Lithuania will be made this year as well.

Lithuania finished 8th at Eurovision 2021, with The Roop and Discoteque, which is the second best place the country has won in the history of the competition, after LT United 6th in 2006 with We Are The Winners .

Italy: Six former Sanremo winners return | Which big stars will we see at the next festival?

A few days are left until Amadeus reveals to us the 22 artists of the Campioni category of Sanremo 2022. The names that are heard to take part in the next edition of the historic Italian festival, are indeed champions and foretell an exciting Sanremo.

ReviewiamoMusica is the website that since 2018 always manages to fall closer to the final list of participants. It does not simply mention the artists that are rumored, but in live time as it is done with the polls, it also captures the percentage of probability that applies to each artist individually! In more detail:

2. Rkomi
3. Achille Lauro
4. Emma
5. Aka 7even
6. Boomdabash

Less than three weeks remain for the official announcement of the cast of 22 artists of the Sanremo 2022 Festival. In the 22 names that Amadeus will announce on December 15, the two winners of Sanremo Giovani will be added.

Among the people whose participation is now considered almost certain is Elisa. Twenty-one years after her unique and successful participation, Elisa seems to have found the desire to get back in the game. Her participation is very important, as it will pave the way for other superstars in the country to participate in the future.

Another impressive comeback could be that of Emma, ten years after her victory she returns, aiming for victory this time as well.

But they are not the only former winners to return, at least according to current rumors. Mahmood, Fabrizio Moro and Marco Masini, both former winners, take the competition to new heights!

If you think that we got rid of the eurostars here, you are just wrong! The list also includes Gianni Morandi, also a winner of the Sanremo Festival and Italy’s representative at Eurovision 1970, occupying eighth place.

According to the official regulation , each artist has until December 1 to submit his candidacy, sending his unpublished piece to the committee chaired by artistic director Amadeus.

The announcement of the final cast will be made as we told you above, on the sidelines of the final of Sanremo Giovani, which is scheduled for December 15 in prime time at Rai Uno.

Sanremo 2022 will be held at the Teatro Ariston in the small Ligurian town of Sanremo, from 1 to 5 February. The winner will also have the opportunity (if he so wishes) to represent Italy in the 66th Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place a few kilometers away, in May in Turin.

Would you like any of the former Sanremo winners to represent Italy at Eurovision 2022? The Maneskin success has whetted the appetite of many, but who will succeed them?

Stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all the developments regarding the Italian participation in Eurovision 2022!

Earlier, BNT made public what was leaked months ago, that the rock band Intelligent Music Project will represent the Balkan country in Turin. With them will be Ronnie Romero as a singer, but also drummer Stoyan Yankoulov, who in 2007 and 2013 represented Bulgaria, along with Elitsa.

The changes that have taken place in the team working on the Eurovision project in Bulgaria are obvious. Apart from the different artistic approach that BNT follows this year, choosing an experienced rock band, in contrast with the young artists who represented the country in previous years, we also have a different way of presenting the song.

Through Twitter the Bulgarian public television stated that this year we will not wait long to hear their participation (which was traditionally one of the last to be released). As a Christmas present to all fans, Intention as their song is titled, will be released on December 7th, along with its video!

This will be the 14th participation of Bulgaria in the competition, which so far their best result is a second place, in 2017 with Kristian Kostov and Beautiful Mess. In Rotterdam, the country was represented by Victoria, with Growing Up Is Getting Old, finishing in eleventh place.

What do you think will be the fate of the Intelligent Music Project in Turin?

Bulgaria: Ronnie Romero & Intelligent Music Project will represent the country at Eurovision 2022!

Rock supergroup Intelligent Music Project along with Ronnie Romero will represent Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin with the song ‘Intention’. The today’s news confirmed our article, some months ago, that the famous rock band was selected internally to represent Bulgaria in the contest.

The band’s participation was announced at a special press conference given by the CEO of broadcaster BNT Emil Koshlukov and Dr. Milen Vrabevski; creator of Intelligent Music Project, with its ever-changing line-up of superstars.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that rock god Ronnie Romero (lead vocalist of legendary Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow) will front the ensemble!

The band also features Bisser Ivanov, Slavin Slavchev (the winner of X-Factor Bulgaria), Ivo Stefanov, Dimiter Sirakov and drummer Stoyan Yankoulov.

Eurovision fans will recognise Stoyan from his two previous outings at the Contest with vocalist Elitsa: Voda (Water) finished 5th in Helsinki 2007, while Samo Shampioni narrowly missed out on a Grand Final place in Malmö 2013.

Details of Intention remain a heavily guarded secret but all will be revealed at the beginning of December on BNT1.

In the meantime, if you’re into hard-rock songs with progressive hooks, driven by catchy guitar riffs and keyboards, there’s plenty of Intelligent Music Group’s back catalogue to enjoy online.
