Finland: The results of the first episode of Viisukupla – Eurovisionsbubblan!

The first episode of Viisukupla – Eurovisionsbubblan took place on Saturday, April 23rd, where 14 of this year’s Eurovision entries were evaluated by the audience and the panel of judges.

The Finnish preview show is presented by Märta Westerlund and Katri Norrlin. Permanent members of the panel are Eva Frantz and Mikko Silvennoinen, while every week there will be two guest judges. In this episode we saw Petra Laiti and Benjamin Peltonen. The audience and the panel of judges could vote for each entry by choosing a color. Green when they liked it, yellow when the song left them with neutral emotions and red when they did not like it.

The results of the judges:

  1. It is impressive that for their participation, Jezebel, there were conflicting reactions, since one of the judges stated that he did not like it, while another was neutral.
  2. The winners of the judges’ vote were Sweden, Ukraine and the Netherlands with 4/4 positive votes.
  3. The Czech Republic received very good reviews, with three positive votes. A good sign for the participation of We Are Domi, since they participate in the same semifinal as Finland.
  4. San Marino was the only participant that received 4 negative votes from the judges.
  5. Switzerland and Latvia followed with 3 negatives.

Audience results:

  1. It is even more impressive that the Finnish public does not seem to be crazy about Jezebel either, since only 17% voted that they like it, with most declaring it neutral (67%).
  2. The winner in the public vote with 84% is the participation of Ukraine.
  3. The Netherlands was very high with 80%, while the Czech Republic was also high in the public preference with 77%.
  4. Last in the public vote is Switzerland, where only 3% said they like it.

Next Saturday, April 30, the second episode of Viisukupla – Eurovisionsbubblan, where 13 more entries this year will be evaluated.

Finland: The Rasmus’ staging in Turin to include flying props!

The official account of UMK, the finnish national final, controlled by the public broadcaster YLE, has just brought to light information about The Rasmus‘ performance and staging in Turin via a Twitter post.

The post emphasizes that the band’s appearance on the Eurovision stage will be very different from their appearance in the finnish national final, which took place in February. In addition, many props in the air will be used, as they also seem to be referring to balloons.

Twan van de Nieuwenhuizen: “Keep an eye on the UK!”

A few hours ago Twan van de Nieuwenhuizen, the head of this year’s competition, was interviewed on Dutch radio, directing the countries with ideas for their performances and having the most important say in the creation of the countries’ running order.

Among other things, he said:

“The main goal of the running order is to be put together in such a way that it keeps the audience’s interest throughout the shows. Latvia appears after Albania, as its performance features fresh sounds, unlike Albania’s darker appearance. Finland has an ambitious stage presence, and keep an eye on the UK!”

He goes on to say that by the song submission deadline, each delegation had to provide a file that included the intended image and sense of each entry. He points out that this document is becoming increasingly detailed! In fact, last year’s document from Italy consisted of 88 pages on the Maneskin performance!

Finally, he states that the use of water in the performances will no longer be allowed (since last year), for safety reasons.

Recall that Twan van de Nieuwenhuizen, producer of last year’s Eurovision, had mentioned that Greece was the country that would try something for the first time on stage, which was also confirmed by Telegraaf!

It therefore remains to be seen whether the UK will live up to the high expectations in Turin this May!
