During today’s show we’ve seen ten acts perform their consecutive songs they’d written specifically for Eurovision Song Contest. Among the contestants, we have happened to see three returnees who brought really great results to Moldova previously.

This was the running order for the National Selection.

  2. OL – “Why You Play It Cool”
  3. Victor Gulick – “Let’s Dance”
  4. Surorile Osoianu – “Bade, bădişor, bădiţă”

Pasha Parefi represented the country in 2012 with the song “Lautar’, Aliona Moon in 2013 with the song “O Mie” and SunStroke Project managed to represent Moldova twice in 2010 and in 2017, while getting the best result for the country in the latter year.

Moreover, among the songwriters we can spot a Eurovision 2023 contestant Mia Nicolai, who will be representing the Netherlands along with Dion Cooper with the song “Burning Daylight”. Mia wrote Corina Ivanov’s song “When Love’s Real”.

Greece: The video clip release of “What They Say” is postponed!

The release of the video clip of What They Say, which was scheduled for Monday, March 6 has been postponed.

On Monday, March 6, through ERTFlix, the first presentation of the video clip of the Greek participation for Eurovision 2023 was scheduled to take place.

In the past days Victor Vernicos finished filming the video clip of What They Say and everything was ready for the release of the song. However, the dramatic news with the fatal accident in Tempi, which plunged the whole of Greece into mourning and resulted in all television stations adjusting their programs, could not leave Greek public television unaffected either, which thought that perhaps it would be wiser to postpone for a few days the release of the video clip.

Earlier, the cover of his What They Say single was also revealed on Twitter:

The filming of the video clip has been undertaken by ERT director Yiannis Georgioudakis, while Kostas Kalimeris, Steve Sovolos and Vangelis Gialamas have participated in the production of the song.

As we informed you in a related article, the staging director is the experienced director Konstantinos Rigos (Greece 2011, 2012).

On Monday 6/3, ERT will also know the decision on Melissa Mantzoukis’ application for a temporary injunction, a parameter that may also have been taken into account in the decision to postpone the presentation of the video clip.

The news will be many and interesting, so stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all the news!

North Macedonia: Discussions for Eurovision participation going on!

Last month MRT celebrated their 208th meeting of their Program Council Member.  During this meeting, the country discussed their future participation in both the Eurovision and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.  One of the main issues discussed was how to improve the country’s results in both contest.

We must remember that North Macedonia failed to qualify to the Grand Final in their last two Eurovision participations.  North Macedonia ended in 14th place in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

Nevertheless, Director of the Program Council Smilka Janeska Sarkanjac stressed that future participation in both Eurovision and the Junior Eurovision are on the table once the broadcaster recovers from the financial crisis.  According to Ms. Sarkanjac both contests give an opportunity to present the broadcaster brand to a wider European audience.

Junior Eurovision participation

North Macedonia was last represented by Lara, Jovan and Irina.  Diana Gogova-Atanasova, Editor of the Children’s TV channel MRT 5, and Rade Spasovski, the Head of Delegation for North Macedonia discussed their last result.  Although they were not satisfied with their result, they supported their last representatives.

During the meeting, various Council Members urged the broadcaster to consider a future Junior Eurovision participation and to continue developing the country’s children talent.  However, there were discussions about the tight deadline to select their last Junior Eurovision representative.  According to Program Council Member Snezhana Klincharova, preparations for Junior Eurovision should start in the future no later than Mid-March.
