Eurovision 2021: Sietse Bakker “reveals” how the contest will be held | Will there be any audience?

A literally last minute news. In a recent TV interview in the Netherlands, the executive producer of Eurovision 2021, Sietse Bakker, essentially reveals how the contest will take place.

According to Sietse Bakker, the primary concern of the organizers is to bring all the artists and delegations to Rotterdam in May.

Our priority is to bring all artists and expeditions to the Netherlands. If there is no other option, then the contest should be held without an audience.

Sietse Bakker, however, did not rule out the possibility of seeing the audience on the stands of the Ahoy Arena, he simply shifted the decisions for the presence or not of the audience in the arena for April!

Let’s postpone the decisions for the audience for later. Until mid-April.

Once again, the executive producer of Eurovision 2021 stated that the announcement of the scenario based on which the 65th Eurovision Song Contest will take place, will take place by mid-February.

The above means that the worst case scenario currently being considered is C, with the live presence of all the artists who can travel to Rotterdam and the absence of the audience. Apparently we will be late to find out if we finally see the colorful mosaic of fans in May at the Ahoy Arena.

Finland: Listen to Ilta’s song for UMK 2021!

Moments ago the Finnish broadcaster YLE released the seventh song of UMK, the country’s national final for Eurovision 2021. It is the song of Ilta, Kelle mä soitan.

Ilta’s moving ballad, Kelle mä soitan (“Who Will I Call”) is a specific depiction of what it is like to live in loneliness.

Ilta Elina Fuchs was born in 1997 in Finland. She became famous through her song Sillat (“Bridges”) in a duet with Finnish rap Cheek. Last fall, Ilta released Näitä hetkiä varten’s debut album (“For These Moments”). As a little girl, Ilta sang songs that had a strong presence and a sensitive core, and she wants her music to have the same effect on her audience. Ilta has been thinking for a long time, if she would participate in UMK. In the end, the opportunity to sing to everyone in Finland and the opportunity to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest to an audience of over 180 million people overcame any hesitation.

You could be in the middle of a crowd and feel incredibly alone. It’s one of the most difficult emotions a person can have as we connect with others. I hope my song can offer everyone a little hope and comfort, whether they feel lonely or not. Although it does not contain an explicit message of survival, I hope it can make people feel that they are not alone.

The seven artists who will claim the golden ticket to Rotterdam are:

Oskr – Lie
Teflon Brothers x Pandora – I Love You
Danny – Sinä päivänä kun kaikki rakastaa mua
Laura – Play
Aksel – Hurt
Blind Channel – Dark Side
Ilta – Kelle mä soitan

The songs that will compete in the grand final of UMK 2021, which will be held on February 20, will be announced one every day, as follows:

January 14 – Oskr – Lie
January 15 – Teflon Brothers x Pandora – I Love You
January 18 – Danny – Sinä päivänä kun kaikki rakastaa mua
January 19 – Laura – Play
January 20 – Aksel – Hurt
January 21 – Blind Channel – Dark Side
January 22 – Ilta – Kelle mä soitan

Lithuania: Listen to The Roop’s “Discotheque”!

The big day for all The Roop fans has arrived. The long-awaited “Discoteque”, with which the band will participate in Pabandom Iš Naujo! 2021, released.

The big winners of last year’s Lithuanian national final and one of the big favorites to win the canceled Eurovision 2020 are back in order to get a ticket to Rotterdam for the second year in a row.

As the singer of the band, Vaidotas Valiukevičius mentioned, everyone in The Roop believes that they can win Pabandom Iom Naujo! and claim whatever chances they have of winning Eurovision 2021 in May.

The famous band has secured a direct place for the grand finale of Pabandom Iš Naujo! on February 6, while they will appear in tomorrow’s second qualifying round as a guest presenting their participation.

Eurovision 2021: The song of Blind Channel brought Finland to the top of the bets!

The – so far – situation has been overturned by the release of the Blind Channel song for UMK 2021. The unique heavy metal sound of “Dark Side” has raised Finland to the top of the bets.

Counting almost 115,000 views after its first 21 hours of release, Blind Channel’s participation managed to dethrone the artists who were going to participate in Eurovision 2020 from the top of the betting predictions.

As of noon, Iceland, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Russia were at the top of the betting table. The first two have already chosen their representatives last year, Lithuania is waiting for the song of The Roop and Russia is very likely to recruit the unconventional Little Big for another year.

Within hours, the Nordic country saw its winning odds fall from 30 to 8, climbing to the top of the list of the two betting companies currently providing odds for winning Eurovision 2021.

Of course, we should not ignore the fact that both companies are not purely bookmakers, but odds exchange. In these exchanges, everyone interested bets against other players and not against the platforms.

The sharp drop in Finland’s performance just hours after the official release of the Blind Channel song clearly shows a trend, with fans of the contest wanting Finland to return to its rock roots.

And with the popular band “Suomi” have this very opportunity, to give the Eurovision audience a sound that has been missed a lot from the competition.

Whether Blind Channel will eventually prevail in the Finnish national final and represent their country in the 65th Pan-European Song Contest is unknown. However, the chances are on their side and possibly their dynamics will allow Finland to return to the top ten for the first time since 2006 and the victory of the Lordi in Athens.

Lithuania: The goverment blacklists Philipp Kirkorov | He will not be able to visit the country for 5 years!

The Russian pop singer Philipp Kirkorov will not be able to perform or come to Lithuania for five years after the country adds him to its blacklist for supporting Moscow’s policies in Crimea.

On Tuesday, Lithuania’s Migration Department, acting on a request from the Foreign Ministry, added the Russian performer to the national blacklist of foreigners banned from coming to Lithuania, the Interior Ministry said in a press release.

The Foreign Ministry previously said that Kirkorov had been performing in Crimea, thus justifying Russia’s illegal anexation of the peninsula from Ukraine.

Performers publicly justifying Crimea’s occupation should not be tolerated in any democratic country. We have an unambiguous stance as regards such public figures, hence there were no doubts about adding Kirkorov to the blacklist of people unwelcome in Lithuania.

Interior Minister Agne Bilotaitė

On Monday, Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis asked the Interior Ministry and the Migration Department to add Kirkorov, who is a dual Russian-Bulgarian national, to Lithuania’s blacklist of foreigners banned from coming to the country.

The minister then said that the well-known performer, who has a considerable fan base in Lithuania, made multiple visits to the annexed Crimean Peninsula and “deliberately denied the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and thus indirectly justified the aggressive actions of the Russian Federation”.

“We will systematically assess all the figures that Russia seeks to exploit to further its foreign policy [goals] and influence Lithuanian people,” Landsbergis said.

Philipp Kirkorov has represented Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest 1995. He has also been the composer, along with the Greek musician Dimitris Kontopoulos, in many Eurovision entries. This year he signs the entry with which Natalia Gordiengo will compete in Eurovision Song Contest.
