Bulgaria: In September the decision for Eurovision 2025

Bulgaria seems not to reject, at least yet, the idea of Eurovision 2025. According to what was revealed by the official account of the public television (BNT) for the contest, the decision on the participation or not of the country in Eurovision 2025 will be made in September.

In September, the month in which the deadline for the preliminary participation of public broadcasters in the competition also expires, BNT will decide whether to finally participate in Eurovision 2025 or not.

Bulgaria’s last participation in the competition was in 2022 with Intelligent Music Project and the song Intention, which with 29 points took 16th place, among 17 entries in the semi final.

EXCLUSIVE | Bulgaria and Montenegro will not participate in Eurovision 2023!

We can exclusively reveal that both Bulgaria and Montenegro will not take part in the 67th Eurovision Song Contest, that is set to take place in Liverpool, in May.

The main reason behind RTCG’s (Radio and Television of Montenegro) decision not to participate seems to be the latter’s financial difficulties. It is not the first time that RTCG has withdrawn from ESC due to financial difficulties. They did so in 2010, 2011, 2020 (RTCG announced that it would not participate before the Contest was cancelled due to Covid-19), and 2021.

The BNT’s (Bulgarian National Television) decision not enter the Contest seems to be the result of both BNT’s financial difficulties and the political uncertainty in the country. Bulgaria did not enter the Contest in 2014 and 2015 for similar reasons.

As of this time, only the following 34 countries have publicly confirmed their intentions to participate in the 2023 ESC:

Semi-finals (28 countries)

Albania
Australia
Austria
Azerbaijan
Belgium
Croatia
Cyprus
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
Georgia
Greece
Iceland
Ireland
Israel
Latvia
Lithuania
Malta
Netherlands
Norway
Poland
Portugal
Romania
San Marino
Serbia
Slovenia
Sweden
Switzerland

Final (Big Five & Ukraine)

France
Germany
Italy
Spain
Ukraine
United Kingdom

Countries that took part in ESC 2022 but have not expressed any intention about ESC 2023

Armenia
Czech Republic
Moldova
North Macedonia

If the above four countries do not enter the Contest, ESC 2023 is set to become the ESC edition with the fewer participants since 2003. Semi-final(s) format was introduced in 2004 with just one semi-final, and was replaced with the two semi-finals’ setting in 2008 and onwards.

Stay tuned on Eurovisionfun for all the details about the upcoming ESC!

Bulgaria: “A fan created this whole story”, BNT answers | EXCLUSIVE

The whole Eurovision community, of course, has been dealing with Bulgaria since the morning and what is finally going to happen on 15/3, which also has to do with Kristian Kostov. Eurovisionfun addressed the Intelligent Music Project, who were also surprised to see the developments from the morning. According to the answer given to them by the country’s public television, the confusion was created by a fan of the contest who had access to the BNT account. The tweets have been deleted and now the topic is considered over!

What happened

For everything that happened in the morning, you can read our relevant article. In short, two of today’s tweets were enough to trigger literally countless scenarios, regarding the country’s participation in this year’s competition and Kristian Kostov’s involvement in it.

All this resulted in a rise in Bulgaria in betting, which reached the third place, from 39th in the morning.

Eurovisionfun contacted a representative of the Intelligent Music Project to clarify the situation, who told us the following:

BNT’s respond is that the author of these posts is a fan and now the posts have been deleted.

Kristian Kostov’s answer

Kristian Kostov also had no knowledge on the subject, who recently tweeted, thanked all the fans of the contest for the love he received today with their messages and comments and expressed his desire to return to the stage of the contest, sometime in the future.

This is how the today’s drama in Eurovision world ended!

Stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all the news around Bulgaria’s participation in Eurovision 2022!

Bulgaria: Enigmatic tweet from public television with Kristian Kostov!

A tweet on the official account of Bulgarian public television for the Eurovision Song Contest has sparked scenarios and rumors.

This tweet mentions some lyrics of Intention, the song with which the Intelligent Music Project will represent Bulgaria at Eurovision 2022, there is a photo of Kristian Kostov and writes soon…

BNT then posted another tweet. Probably a date: 15/03, ie March 15. Obviously then they will reveal this surprise. By the way, on March 15, Kristian Kostov has his birthday!

What makes the story more interesting is that they have deleted all the tweets related to the Intelligent Music Project, even the retweet for the band’s participation in the Eurovision pre party in Amsterdam!

We remind you that Kristian Kostov represented Bulgaria at Eurovision 2017, occupying the second place, the best place the country has ever taken in the competition.

What can the above mean? Is it just a collaboration of the Intelligent Music Project with Kristian Kostov? Will they do a cover of Intention together or is it something bigger?

We will find out soon…

Stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all the developments regarding the participation of Bulgaria in Eurovision 2022!

Bulgaria: Intention’s release on December 7th!

Contrary to what we have been accustomed to in recent years, Bulgarian public television is very likely to be the first to announce its song for Eurovision 2022.

Earlier, BNT made public what was leaked months ago, that the rock band Intelligent Music Project will represent the Balkan country in Turin. With them will be Ronnie Romero as a singer, but also drummer Stoyan Yankoulov, who in 2007 and 2013 represented Bulgaria, along with Elitsa.

The changes that have taken place in the team working on the Eurovision project in Bulgaria are obvious. Apart from the different artistic approach that BNT follows this year, choosing an experienced rock band, in contrast with the young artists who represented the country in previous years, we also have a different way of presenting the song.

Through Twitter the Bulgarian public television stated that this year we will not wait long to hear their participation (which was traditionally one of the last to be released). As a Christmas present to all fans, Intention as their song is titled, will be released on December 7th, along with its video!

This will be the 14th participation of Bulgaria in the competition, which so far their best result is a second place, in 2017 with Kristian Kostov and Beautiful Mess. In Rotterdam, the country was represented by Victoria, with Growing Up Is Getting Old, finishing in eleventh place.

What do you think will be the fate of the Intelligent Music Project in Turin?

Bulgaria: Ronnie Romero & Intelligent Music Project will represent the country at Eurovision 2022!

Rock supergroup Intelligent Music Project along with Ronnie Romero will represent Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin with the song ‘Intention’. The today’s news confirmed our article, some months ago, that the famous rock band was selected internally to represent Bulgaria in the contest.

The band’s participation was announced at a special press conference given by the CEO of broadcaster BNT Emil Koshlukov and Dr. Milen Vrabevski; creator of Intelligent Music Project, with its ever-changing line-up of superstars.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that rock god Ronnie Romero (lead vocalist of legendary Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow) will front the ensemble!

The band also features Bisser Ivanov, Slavin Slavchev (the winner of X-Factor Bulgaria), Ivo Stefanov, Dimiter Sirakov and drummer Stoyan Yankoulov.

Eurovision fans will recognise Stoyan from his two previous outings at the Contest with vocalist Elitsa: Voda (Water) finished 5th in Helsinki 2007, while Samo Shampioni narrowly missed out on a Grand Final place in Malmö 2013.

Details of Intention remain a heavily guarded secret but all will be revealed at the beginning of December on BNT1.

In the meantime, if you’re into hard-rock songs with progressive hooks, driven by catchy guitar riffs and keyboards, there’s plenty of Intelligent Music Group’s back catalogue to enjoy online.
