Cyprus: Michalis Hatzigiannis and Alex P join forces for Eurovision 2022?

You have read very well, our dear readers, according to information we have at our disposal, the song with which Cyprus will participate in Eurovision 2022 will be a composition by Michalis Hatzigiannis and Alex P and his team.

Through the show Me Agapi Christiana, Konstantinos Hampalis, editor-in-chief of Tv Mania magazine, stated that RIK is still in the search phase of the song, although there is a song that has caught the eyes of those in charge. So this song is a composition of the well-known Greek Cypriot singer Michalis Hatzigiannis and Alex P and his team, a Greek-born creator and producer based in Sweden.

RIK after the unsuccessful attempt to secure the anecdotal song of George Michael, but also the reluctance with which he faced this possibility, the well-known Greek artist who was offered to perform the song on the stage of Eurovision, turned to the choice of Michalis Hatzigiannis a scenario after all, it has been there since the summer.

The song according to our information is mid tempo and has ethnic vibes. As we had written, the singer for another year will belong to the staff of PANIK Records, since RIK’s collaboration with the record company continues in the coming years. We remind you of what the CEO of the company, G. Arsenakos, had revealed months ago, the talent show that will take place next year, with the prize of representing Cyprus in Eurovision 2023.

Michalis Hatzigiannis represented Cyprus at Eurovision 1998 with the song Genesis, occupying the eleventh place, while Alex P has participated as a composer in the contest with Cyprus (2012, 2018, 2019), Greece (2007), and Azerbaijan (2009).

For another year, RIK focuses first on finding a song and then on the search for the artist, who will lift the weight of the representation of Cyprus in the competition, hoping this time for a better result than last year. The selection of Michalis Hatzigiannis as co-composer of the song, comes to confirm the statements of members of the Cypriot delegation, that this year there will be Cypriot actors in the participation. The song is expected to be released in March, while any official announcements will probably be made next month.

Update:

In a communication that a member of the Cypriot delegation had with us, we were told that although discussions were held about the above mentioned scenario and cooperation, it seems is not something that went ahead. We are waiting now for the official announcements …

El Diablo is signed by Thomas Stengaard, Laurel Parker, Jimmy Joker and Oxa, all very important composers with hits inside and outside Eurovision.

Already yesterday, according to our secure information and as you first read through Eurovision Fun, there were advanced discussions with an artist belonging in PANIK Records, in order to represent Cyprus in May in Rotterdam.

In the summer, in an interview with the Cypriot magazine Hello, she stated that she is ready and of course interested in participating in Eurovision, either with Greece or Cyprus. In addition, in 2019 she was among the artists that were rumored for representing Greece!

Who is Elena Tsagrinou?

Elena was born on November 16, 1994 in Athens. From a young age she was involved in music and attended a Music High School. In 2009, she participated in the ANT1 talent show “Greece got talent”. In the summer of 2013, she was auditioned by the band OtherView (after the departure of Krystallia) for the position of singer. In the same year, Elena participated in the MEGA music show, “Just The 2 Of Us” as coach of Ivan Svitailo.

In the 2016-2017 season, she was a backstage presenter on SKAI’s talent show, The Voice of Greece. From 2018 follows a solo career. She has released several successful singles, while she has many collaborations with the hottest Greek names such as Konstantinos Argyros, Demy, Panos Kiamos, Anastasios Rammos, Melisses, Tamta. She is a fresh face of the music industry and is one of the youngest rising singers of the pop scene and without a doubt she can stand worthy on the stage of Eurovision, since apart from a very good voice she also has an impressive presence.

“El Diablo”‘s composers

CYBC has also come up with the song, managing to have as creators of this year’s entry, a very strong team of composers. Once again, the Cypriot team that deals with the contest, proves its dedication and love to the Eurovision project, hoping that in Eurovision 2021, the entry of Cyprus will cause a sensation and will leave the best impressions!

El Diablo is signed by Thomas Stengaard, Laurell Barker, Jimmy Joker and Oxa. Thomas Stengaard was one of the creators of Only Teardrops, Denmark’s winning song at Eurovision 2013. Laurell Barker was behind five Eurovision entries. Switzerland in 2018, the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland in 2019 and Poland in 2020. He has also participated several times in the Melodifestivalen, but also in other national finals. Jimmy Joker has collaborated with literally all the big names in the world music scene (Lady Gaga, One Direction, Marc Anthony etc). He has even won a Grammy Award for his collaboration on Pitbull album Dale.

We remind you that CYBC has already announced as artistic director of its entry in the next contest, the Austrian, Marvin Dietmann, who was responsible for the stage presentation of both the winning entry of Austria in Eurovision 2014 with Conchita Wurst, but also the winning song in the juries voting of Austria in Eurovision 2018 with Cesár Sampson.

We can only wish “Good Luck” to the Cypriot team and Elena Tsagrinou for the best result in Rotterdam!

Cyprus: CYBC is ready to announce its artist for Eurovision 2021 | EXCLUSIVE!

In its favorite month in November, CYBC seems to be very close to the announcement of its representative in Eurovision 2021.

A female singer in Eurovision 2021

After the confirmation in June that Sandro will not represent Cyprus in the next contest and that CYBC will look for a new artist, a lot was written, many rumors were circulated (with some of them being valid and some not), but with the Cypriot public broadcaster to remain silent, working methodically for the best possible entry in Eurovision 2021.

According to our reliable information and as you first read through Eurovision Fun, there are advanced discussions with an artist, from PANIK Records, in order to lift the weight of the representation of Cyprus in May in Rotterdam.

Although her name has been heard in the past among those who could represent either Cyprus or Greece in Eurovision, she was not one of the names that were widely rumored recently, to claim the ticket of Aphordite’s island in Eurovision 2021.

She is a fresh face of the music industry and is one of the youngest rising singers of the pop scene and without a doubt she can stand worthy on the stage of Eurovision, since apart from a very good voice she also has an impressive presence.

Most likely, at the meeting of the Board of Directors of CYBC tonight, there will be approval, so that very soon we have the official announcements.

What about the song?

RIK has also come up with the song, managing to have as composer of this year’s entry, a really very big name that will cause a sensation in its announcement.

Once again, the CYBC team that deals with the contest, proves its dedication and love to the Eurovision project, hoping that in Eurovision 2021, the participation of Cyprus will cause a sensation and will leave the best impressions!

We remind you that CYBC has already announced as artistic director of its participation in Eurovision 2021, the Austrian, Marvin Dietmann, who was responsible for the stage presentation of both the winning song of Austria in Eurovision 2014 with Conchita Wurst, but also the winning entry in the juries voting, of Austria in Eurovision 2018 with Cesár Sampson.

Respecting that the collaboration has not been formally completed yet, but also the fact that CYBC has not officially announced anything, we will not publish the name of the artist or the composer, wishing at the same time good luck in Cyprus!

Kalomira: “If I go to Eurovision again, I would like to have such a song…”!

Kalomira gave an interview to OK magazine and to the journalist Giannis Poulopoulos. Shortly after returning from the Caribbean, where she celebrated 10 years of marriage with her husband, Kalomira clarifies in the interview if she has really discussed the possibility of Eurovision 2021 with RIK, she describes the song with which she would like to participate again in the contest, while revealing whether she has already heard a candidate song.

One of the people rumored to represent Cyprus at Eurovision 2021 is Kalomira. Kalomira who is still popular in Greece and Cyprus, admitted some weeks ago in an interview on a Belgian website, that for the first time she is seriously considering returning to the contest, having already had some discussions with RIK.

For the first time since that interview, Kalomira opens her papers more and gives some more important details.

Initially, she admits once again that has discussed with RIK the possibility of representing Cyprus in Eurovision 2021 and describes the song with which she would like to do it:

If I were to go to Eurovision again, I would like to have a strong dance track that would allow me to dance and have fun on stage.

Kalomira is then asked, if she has had heard any songs for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest:

No. So far I have not heard any song.

Finally, the journalist asks her if she is concerned about the fact that Eurovision 2021 can be held without an audience and with completely new data, different from what we are used to, due to the pandemic.

I love Eurovision very much and I believe that by May 2021 there is room to prepare better than in 2020. I am sure that Eurovision 2021 will be a success.

We remind you that according to what is reported in the Cypriot media, Kalomira is the favorite at the moment to represent the island in Eurovision 2021, without of course excluding the cases of Katerina Stikoudi, Irini Papadopoulou, Elias Koza or some other surprise name!

Cyprus: Eleni Foureira’s decision for Eurovision 2021!

This morning, through the show Eftychite in Open TV, the journalist Giannis Poulopoulos, gave an answer to the question that tormented the fans of the Eurovision Song Contest the previous days.

According to information from the record company Panik Records, Eleni Foureira will not represent Cyprus in Eurovision 2021.

The reasons for her refusal, according to the journalist, are not that she does not want to be back on the music scene of the contest, but she would like to do it when the conditions with the coronavirus are better and Eurovision can be done normally in the way we all know.

Finally, both he and Nikos Georgiadis, a journalist and friend of Kalomira, confirmed that the latter is in discussions for the representation of the island of Aphrodite in Eurovision 2021. The same applies to Elias Koza.

Will Kalomira, Elias Kozas or someone else represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021?

Kalomira: “I am in negotiations with Cyprus; this year I am open to go to Eurovision”!

In the morning show of Open TV,  journalist Giannis Poulopoulos revealed two more names of artists who are in talks with RIK, in order to represent Cyprus in Eurovision 2021. They are Kalomira and Elias Koza, both former representatives of Greece in the competitio. .

Kalomira is thinking about it

According to what was reported, RIK is in negotiations with Kalomira to represent the country in Rotterdam. In an interview given by Kalomira to a German media and broadcasted on the show, Kalomira seems quite positive in taking this step, compared to previous years.

This year, Stefania, whom I adore, will represent Greece; Cyprus is something I am looking at, who knows, i may represent Cyprus. It’s something I’m talking about, but it may not happen. This time I am open, I want to leave the house, I am closed for two years. There is a possibility that you will see me at Eurovision 2021.

Kalomira

Nikos Georgiadis, who is on the show’s panel and is a friend of Kalomira, explained that the difference this year for Kalomira compared to previous years, is that schools in the US are done remotely and so she can move with her family for the needs of the contest. This will be Kalomira’s second participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, if the discussions finally succeed, after the third place she won in 2008, with My Secret Combination.

Elias Kozas as a solo artist

Another artist who is in contact with RIK is Elias Kozas, who is discussing returning to the competition as a solo artist and without his band, Koza Mostra. Elias together with his band and Agathonas in 2013 brought Greece for the last time in the top 10 of the final score, with the song of Alcohol Is Free.

We remind you that this week we are expecting Alex Papaconstantinou’s meeting with Eleni Foureira, in order to clarify the landscape regarding the possibility of her returning to the competition. As we have written in our previous articles, RIK has many valuable options and shows that it is not in a hurry to end up.
