Eurovision 2023: The Semi-Final Allocation Draw Results!

Liverpool’s Saint George’s Hall with a very nice event hosted a few minutes ago the draw for the semi-finals of the 67th Eurovision Song Contest.

The analyzes of the fans and not only, have been on fire for a few minutes now. Since the theories based on the pre-history of the countries in the competition, it is a first insight into how passable the qualification to the final is or not. In other words, it’s time to make our predictions, about who will go through to the final and who are the favorites to say goodbye to Liverpool early…

The presenters and the handover ceremony

The Eurovision 2023 semi-final draw was hosted by AJ Odudu and Rylan. Both are on the staff of the BBC, being some of the most loved faces of British public broadcasting.

During the draw, the ceremony of handing over and accepting the emblem of the contest took place. The mayor of Turin, Stefano Lo Russo, formally handed over the “keys to the event” to the mayor of Liverpool, Joanne Anderson.

Draw Procedure

The 31 countries competing in the semi-finals were divided into five pots, based on the scores they have exchanged in recent years with each other. This is done in order to avoid, as much as possible, the alliances that appear every year in the voting.

Big 5 and Ukraine

With the big winner of last year’s competition, Ukraine, directly in the final, along with the Big 5 (UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain), the first part of the draw determined the semi-final that the direct finalists would vote for.

In the semi-final that the six aforementioned countries were drawn to broadcast and vote for, the video from their dress rehearsal will also be shown. This was done at Eurovision 2016 for the first time, for reasons of equal exposure of the countries directly in the final and the countries that qualify from the semi-finals. Essentially, viewers see each entry twice during the shows.

Semi-Final Allocation Draw

The allocation draw for the two semi-finals had two parts. In the first part the 31 countries participating in the semi-finals were drawn in which of the two they will compete in. Fifteen countries will compete in the first/second semi-final and sixteen in the first/second semi-final.

In the second part, each country learned whether it will appear in the first or second half of the semi-final in which it will compete. The exact order of appearance will be determined by the EBU and the show’s producers at a later date.

Liverpool will host the 67th Eurovision Song Contest from 9 to 13 May at the Liverpool Arena. The motto of this year’s event, as chosen by the organizers, is “United by Music“.

Eurovision 2023: Today the semi-final draw!

At 20:00 CET and live from Saint George’s Hall in Liverpool, the Eurovision 2023 semi-final draw will take place.

During today’s event, there will also be the delivery-receipt of the emblem of the organization from the city of Turin to that of Liverpool. For this reason, today’s draw will be attended by both the mayor of Turin, Stefano Lo Russo, and the mayor of Liverpool, Joanne Anderson.

Presenters

The draw is expected to be hosted by AJ Odudu and Rylan, both BBC presenters.

Draw Procedure

The first part of the draw will determine the semi-final that each of the six countries that are directly in the final (Italy, France, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, Ukraine) will broadcast and vote for.

The second part of the draw will determine which semi-final and which half the other 31 participating countries will compete in. As in recent years, the exact order of appearance will be determined by the event’s producers at a later date.

The 31 countries have been divided into five pots, based on historical voting patterns as calculated by official TV partner Digame.

Georgia: The Voice of Georgia Semi Final tonight!

Georgia is one step closer to choosing its representative for Eurovision 2023, as the Voice of Georgia semi-final will take place tonight. The Caucasian country will choose the artist to represent it in Liverpool through the popular talent show, which is close to ending.

Sixteen artists are left in The Voice of Georgia, with the grand winner being the one who will be anointed to represent Georgia at the 67th Eurovision Song Contest. Tonight they claim their presence in the grand final of the Georgian talent show.

The grand final of The Voice of Georgia will take place next Thursday, February 2, with the winner representing Georgia in Liverpool. Nevertheless, the song that Georgia will compete with in our favorite contest will be known later.

The semi-final of The Voice of Georgia will take place tonight at 19:00 CET. You can watch him through the official website of the first channel of the Georgian public television, by clicking HERE.

Until we find out who will represent Georgia at Eurovision 2023, let’s remember the country’s participation in last year’s contest. Georgia’s previous representatives at Eurovision 2022 were Circus Mircus with the song “Lock Me In” and they finished in last place in the Second Semi-Final, continuing the country’s elimination streak for the fifth year:

Georgia: On February 2 the Final of The Voice Georgia!

Georgia’s national broadcaster GPB hosts The Voice Georgia for the first time, as the country’s national selection for Eurovision 2023.

The tv show, which started on December 8, is now in the Live Shows phase, with 24 artists continuing to compete to represent Georgia in Liverpool.

As announced by the GPB, the Semi-Final of The Voice Georgia will take place on January 26, while one week later, on Thursday, February 2, the Grand Final will take place, when the winner will be decided and get the right to fly the country’s flag in the United Kingdom.

Also, it is not yet known how the song will be chosen to be performed by the artist who will be crowned the winner of the music competition in May.

The jury, as we have already informed you, consists of:

  • Stephane Mgebrishvili (Eurovision 2009)
  • Dato Evgenidze
  • Sopo Toroshelidze (Eurovision 2011)
  • Dato Porchkhidze

Among the 24 artists who continue in the Live Shows is Iru Khechanov, a member of the children’s group Candy, where with their song Candy Music they managed to give the Caucasian nation the second prize in Junior Eurovision 2011.

In 2022 in Turin of Italy Georgia was represented by Circus Mircus group and the song Lock Me In but achieved nothing more than finishing 18th and last in the second semifinal with 22 points.

Eurovision 2023: Semi-final allocation draw scheduled for the end of January!

In the latest episode of ” The Euro Trip podcast”, Councilor and Deputy Mayor of Liverpool Harry Doyle was a guest and spoke among others things, about the preparations for Eurovision 2023.

The allocation draw for the semi finals is any important date, since it marks the official start of the Eurovision season. During the event, the draw to determine in which semi finals countries will perform and which out of the two semis Big Five must broadcast and vote takes place, as well as the host city insignia exchange.

Mr Doyle revealed that preparations are underway for the ceremony which is gonna take place at the end of January. Furthermore, meetings with representatives of local and Ukrainian communities of Liverpool will also take place, to explore ways of collaboration. We remind you that as part of the agreement of BBC to host Eurovision 2023 on behalf of Ukraine, is to include Ukrainians and Ukraine culture as part of the shows.

Even though Mr Doyle did not reveal the exact date of this years allocation draw, it is expected that it will be at the last Tuesday of January, as it happened the two previous years, meaning January 31st.

Georgia: Member of the Junior Eurovision 2011 winner Candy group in The Voice of Georgia!

In the third round of the auditions of the Voice of Georgia, through which the next representative of Georgia in the upcoming Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool will emerge, a Junior Eurovision winner managed to shine.

Specifically, the contestant is Iru Khechanov, one of the members of the Candy group who achieved the second victory of the Caucasian nation at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 with the song Candy Music.

Iru Khechanov performed Loren Allred’s song “Never Enough” and managed to turn three out of four coach chairs.

Georgia that debuted in the Contest in 2007 and has only missed the 2009 edition, has not qualified to the grand final of the show since Eurovision 2016, when Nika Kocharov and Young Georgian Lolitaz with the song Midnight Gold ended up 20th with 104 points.

In 2022 in Turin of Italy Georgia was represented by Circus Mircus group and the song Lock Me In but achieved nothing more than finishing 18th and last in the second semifinal with 22 points.

Junior Eurovision 2022: The Grand Final takes place tonigh in Yerevan!

The big day for all Junior Eurovision fans has arrived. This afternoon, the Grand Final of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which celebrates its 20th edition will take place!

Live from Yerevan, Armenia at 16:00 pm CET, 16 countries will battle it out for the coveted first place and victory in Junior Eurovision 2022.

From the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex right in the center of the Armenian capital, presenters Iveta Mukuchyan, Karina Ignatyan and Garik Papoyan, along with Robin the Robot, will welcome us to the 20th edition of the children’s music festival.

Running Order

Armenia, represented by Nare, will perform 15th in Sunday’s grand final. The show will be opened by Luna from the Netherlands, while Zlata Dziunka from Ukraine will perform her song last.

Voting

Online voting will determine 100% of the public vote as voting by phone or SMS is not possible. As it was until now in Eurovision, the public decides by 50% on the results, with the remaining 50% coming from the votes of each country’s juries. The JESC 2022 Jury will include three music industry professionals and two children aged 10 to 15 years.

The vote for Junior Eurovision 2022 is divided into two phases:

 -Phase 1: voting begins at 8 pm today (CET time). This round of voting will remain open throughout Saturday, closing at 15:59 on Sunday, December 11 – shortly before the show begins.
–Phase 2 :takes place during the live broadcast. The window will open after the appearance of the last country, Ukraine. The second phase will last about 15 minutes.

Junior Eurovision 2022: The voting starts now! | How to vote for your favorite songs!

The countdown for the grand final of Junior Eurovision 2022 has begun. There are two days left to find out which country will be the winner of this year’s contest. After defining the order of songs appearances and analyzing this year’s Junior Eurovision favorites, it’s time to take a look on how to vote.

The vote for Junior Eurovision 2022 is open to the public. What you need is to:

  1. have an internet connection
  2. and a device to connect to the contest’s site.

You can vote for your favorite songs on the contest page, but only after watching a recap of all 16 songs. This video will come from parts of the participants’ second rehearsal .

Once the recap is complete, viewers will be able to vote for their favorite three entries. No geographical restrictions apply, so fans can vote for their own country if they wish so. In an effort to avoid duplication of voting, it is necessary to create an account at junioreurovision.tv before voting.

When do we vote?
The vote for Junior Eurovision 2022 is divided into two phases:

Junior Eurovision 2022: Running order released!

Earlier today, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest kicked off after the Opening Ceremony took place in Yerevan, Armenia hosted by Dalita Avanessian, Hamlet Arakelyan and Aram MP3, while a little later the order of appearance for the final of this year’s event was also made public.

During the Opening Ceremony , three places in the order of appearance were decided. Specifically, the country that will appear first, the country that will appear last, and the position in which Armenia will appear. The draw took place at the National Gallery of Armenia, while the rest of the line-up was decided by the Junior Eurovision 2022 producers after the ceremony.

Junior Eurovision 2022: Eleven previous winners of the contest will perform live in Yerevan!

Since it’s the 20th anniversary of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the Armenian organizers invited all of the previous winners of the contest in Yerevan, in order to take part in the celebration, with eleven of them accepting the invitation.

In detail the 11 winners we are going to see perform live are:

  • Ralf Mackenbach – “Click Clack” (Netherlands 2009)
  • Vladimir Arzumanyan – “Mama” (Armenia 2010)
  • Candy – “Candy Music” (Georgia 2011)
  • Gaia Cauchi – “The Start” (Malta 2013)
  • Vincenzo Cantiello – “Tu primo Grande Amore” (Italy 2014)
  • Destiny Chukunyere – “Not My Soul” (Malta 2015)
  • Mariam Mamadashvili – “Mzeo” (Georgia 2016)
  • Viki Gabor – “Superhero” (Poland 2019)
  • Valentina – “J’imagine” (France 2020)
  • Maléna – “Qami Qami” (Armenia 2021) 

The songs of the remaining eight winners who will not be able to travel to Yerevan, will be performed by the “Tavush Diocese” children choir, while a flashback will take place showcasing the history of the contest by the newly announced host, Robin the Robot, a robot that will act as one of the hosts of the contest.

This will be the second time previous winners will perform in Junior Eurovision as part of the show, with Minsk 2010 being the first where we had the pleasure to listen to the first seven winners of the contest perform their songs live.
