Sanremo 2022: La Rappresentante di Lista won the impressions in the today’s press rehearsal!

Less than 24 hours are left for the start of the 72nd Sanremo Song Festival, through which of course Italy’s entry in Eurovision 2022 will be selected. Earlier we saw the artists walking on the red carpet (which is green) outside the Teatro Ariston, while the general rehearsal for the journalists took place, who gave the last predictions before the start of the festival tomorrow night.

La Rappresentante di Lista (LRDL) the favorite according to journalists

Accredited journalists who cover all the days of the festival from the roof of the Teatro Ariston, but also participate in the final results, as they determine about 1/3 of the voting, reported today that Ciao Ciao of La Rappresentante di Lista was what stood out as the big favorite to win.

The popular pop band from Palermo, had impressed the journalists from the first moment, who listened to the studio versions of the candidate songs of the festival, but they were also impressed by the live performance that they watched for the first time today. According to what they revealed in their responses, LRDL have a lot of energy in their appearance, while the small dance they perform in the chorus also stands out. So we are looking forward to their appearance tomorrow at Ariston, in order to see if the journalists were right in everything they have said so far.

“No” for Eurovision from three artists!

Three of the candidates for Sanremo 2022 have already revealed that they are not interested in being represented at the Eurovision Song Contest in May. Specifically, the veteran Iva Zanicchi, the youth favorite Ana Mena and the already eurostar Emma Marone, stated in their interviews today that they will not represent Italy in Eurovision 2022, even if they win the Sanremo festival.

Impressive appearances on the “red” carpet

Sanremo, however, returns to normalcy, since after last year it was held without the presence of the audience, but also without the parallel events, which gather lights, flashes and impressive appearances on the streets of the small town of Liguria. This year San Remo is really reminiscent of similar events before pandemic.

So, after the good news about the 100% fullness on the stands of the Teatro Ariston, today the opening ceremony of the festival took place normally, with the 24 Campioni artists wearing their goodies and being photographed on the streets of San Remo, walking the red carpet , but it was green! Below you can see some of the appearances:

Tomorrow night the curtain opens at the Teatro Ariston with the first night of the 72nd Sanremo Song Festival, where we will listen to the first 12 candidate songs. Of course Eurovisionfun loves Sanremo and will bring you all week long what is happening there!

Eurovision 2022: Here are the results of the allocation draw!

The Semi-Final Allocation Draw for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 took place in Palazzo Madama in Turin. Find out below in which of the 2 Semi-Finals your country will perform and vote in. The annual event was hosted by Carolina di Domenico and Mario Acampa.

The Semi-Final Allocation Draw and Host City Insignia Exchange are key milestones on the path to the Eurovision Song Contest each year.

During the ceremony, Ahmed Aboutaleb, Mayor of Rotterdam, passed on the Host City Insignia to Stefano Lo Russo, Mayor of Turin. The insignia key chain, weighing over 30 kilograms with the new addition of Rotterdam’s insignia, was handed over to Turin. The Italian city is now officially the Host City of the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

Draw Procedure

The 36 countries competing in the semifinals were divided into six pots, based on the points they have exchanged in recent years. This is done in order to avoid, as much as possible, the alliances and bloc voting that appear every year in the voting.

Allocation Pots

Big 5

With the host Italy, directly in the final, along with the rest of the Big 5 (UK, France, Germany, Spain), the first part of the draw determined the semifinal that the direct finalists will vote.

Will vote in the 1st Semi-Final:

  • France
  • Italy

Will vote in the 2nd Semi-Final:

  • Spain
  • Germany
  • United Kingdom

Their performance in the dress rehearsal will be shown in the semifinals where the six aforementioned countries were drawn to broadcast and vote. This was done at Eurovision 2016 for the first time, for reasons of equal visibility of the countries that are directly in the final and the countries that compete in the semifinals. Essentially, viewers watch each entry twice during the shows.

Allocation Draw

The draw of the countries for the two semifinals had two parts. In the first part, the 36 countries that participate in the semifinals, were drawn in which of the two will compete. 18 countries will compete in both the first and the second semifinal.

In the second part each country found out if it will appear in the first or in the second half of the semifinal that will compete. The exact order of appearance will be determined by the EBU and the producers of the show at a later time.

First Semi-Final (10 May):

1st Half

  • Albania
  • Switzerland
  • Latvia
  • Slovenia
  • Moldova
  • Bulgaria
  • Ukraine
  • Lithuania
  • Netherlands

2nd Half

  • Norway
  • Russia
  • Portugal
  • Denmark
  • Armenia
  • Austria
  • Croatia
  • Iceland
  • Greece

Second Semi-Final (12 May):

1st Half

  • Georgia
  • Cyprus
  • Serbia
  • Finland

Turin will host the 66th Eurovision Song Contest from May 10th to 14th at the Pala Alpitour. The motto of this year’s event, as chosen by the organizers, is “The Sound of Beauty”.

Eurovision 2022: Announcement about the contest’s presenters will be made during Sanremo!

Italy’s biggest radio station, RTL 102.5, informs us that the announcement of the presenters of Eurovision 2022 will be made during the upcoming Sanremo 2022 festival, from which, of course, the representative of Italy in the competition will also be chosen.

https://twitter.com/rtl1025/status/1485547683418890246?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1485547683418890246%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Feurovisionfun.com%2F2022%2F01%2Feurovision-2022-CF83CF84CEBF-sanremo-2022-CEB7-CEB1CEBDCEB1CEBACEBFCEAFCEBDCF89CF83CEB7-CEB3CEB9CEB1-CF84CEBFCF85CF82-CF80CEB1CF81CEBFCF85CF83%2F

According to RTL, the “Adnkronos” agency was informed that the most likely names for presenters of the competition are now singer Laura Pausini, presenter Alessandro Cattelan and possibly singer Mika.

The announcement will be made, specifically, on the second night of Sanremo (February 2) by Amadeus.

We remind you that Sanremo 2022 will be held on February 1-5.

Italy: The lyrics of the songs for Sanremo 2022!

The traditional TV sorrisi e canzoni magazine photoshoot of Sanremo’s artists is here, along with the interviews of the artists and the lyrics of their songs.

Let’s look at the lyrics of the songs one by one:

  • ACHILLE LAURO feat. Harlem Gospel Choir – Domenica

Achille Lauro seems to talk about a carefree life like a “roller coaster”, full of occasional love affairs, likening it to “Sunday”, which is the title of the song, as the most carefree day of the week.

  • AKA 7EVEN – Perfetta così

A love song, in which Aka 7even explains that the woman he is referring to is “perfect with her imperfections”. In his own words, “In this song I tried to put myself in the shoes of an insecure woman who, in a relationship or while looking at herself in the mirror, feels fragile. So, I sing to her what I’ve always told the girls I’ve been with in my life: Be strong, there’s nothing wrong with you.”

  • ANA MENA – Duecentomila ore

Ana Mena sings about a secret, perhaps toxic love story, about the desperate wait until “the night comes” to see her beloved, only to be separated again the next day.

  • DARGEN D’AMICO – Dove si balla

The lyrics of this song, as Dargen D’Amico explains in his interview, were born as a metaphor for the need we have to rationalize the time of coronavirus, each in our own way, especially in the midst of quarantine. Dargen’s way is to dance carefree, although he admits that he always had a love-hate relationship with dance songs before he appreciated their vitality because of the quarantine.

  • DITONELLAPIAGA & RETTORE  Chimica

As you would expect from the title “Chimica” (Chemistry), the song by Ditonellapiaga and Rettore talks about how no one can stop two people when there is chemistry between them.

  • ELISA – O forse sei tu

Another clear love song, with Elisa singing “maybe you are the moment that will bring me a little joy, and that stupid will to live”. Essencially, she’s talking about “the chemistry that should be in a relationship, the difference the person you love makes to you”.

  • EMMA – Ogni volta è così

As she explains, Emma’s song is about “a love story and a situation in which women’s attitudes in relationships are misunderstood and often judged as being wrong”.

  • FABRIZIO MORO – Sei tu

A love song with Fabrizio Moro’s intense and distinctive way of writing that he has gotten us used to. According to him, “I have written many love songs in my life, but I believe this is the most intense and significant dedication of love I have ever made to a person”.

  • GIANNI MORANDI – Apri tutte le porte

A hopeful song that advises us to “open all the doors and let the sun in”, instead of letting our lazy thoughts and habits drown us.

  • GIOVANNI TRUPPI – Tuo padre, mia madre, Lucia

“A love song in which I recognize myself and which contains roughness and various contrasts. Suitable for listening to in the dark,” according to Truppi. “Lucia” in the title is his daughter.

  • GIUSI FERRERI – Miele

As Ferreri explains, “a song that is both romantic and melancholic. As the lyrics say, ‘it’s a blade that tastes like honey’, in every relationship there is sweetness but also bitterness.”

  • HIGHSNOB & HU – Abbi cura di te

A song about “a special aspect of love: letting a person go peacefully after a period of a toxic relationship. We both had similar experiences, so we understood each other immediately,” as Highsnob & Hu explain.

  • IRAMA – Ovunque sarai

“It’s not a love song,” Irama clarifies, even if at first glance the lyrics suggest that. “It talks about the memory of a person who is no longer in my life. I would rather not reveal who that person is. I want everyone to be free, listening to it, to think of a person they have in their heart.” In any case, it’s a song written like a poem, about people who are no longer in our lives.

  • IVA ZANICCHI – Voglio amarti

A song about passion that goes beyond ages. “It is a hymn to love. It evokes peace and joy. Love is a strange emotion that one can feel at any age,” in the singer’s own words.

  • LA RAPPRESENTANTE DI LISTA – Ciao ciao

“A song about the end of the world”, we are sung by La rappresentante di lista. In fact, the song seems to be a great metaphor for all kinds of human crises, the intense emotions we feel during them, but also the small signs of hope expressed more in the joyful refrain.

  • LE VIBRAZIONI – Tantissimo

“Tantissimo”, according to Le Vibrazioni, is about the wounds that remain forever, which we must try to turn into something positive.

  • MAHMOOD & BLANCO – Brividi

Perhaps the most beautiful love song of the year, as noted by the journalists who were the first to hear the songs, as they are every year. More specifically, “the lyrics begin by narrating a dream and go on to describe the problem of wanting to give it all to love, to the point where you end up feeling like you’re doing something wrong yourself.”

  • MASSIMO RANIERI – Lettera di là dal mare

A song that talks about “a perpetual journey and the feeling of finally being able to find the ‘other shore'”, another side of life.

  • MATTEO ROMANO – Virale

Another love song that describes love as “something so beautiful that everyone talks about, especially young people”, hence the title “Virale” (Viral).

  • MICHELE BRAVI – Inverno dei fiori

“A love song intimate, sentimental but not sad, that speaks of hope”, according to Bravi.

  • NOEMI – Ti amo non lo so dire

The song with the most lyrics at this year’s festival. “It’s a metaphor: You can take it as a love song, but I feel like it’s a song about our relationship with others and ourselves. To say ‘I love you’ to someone takes a lot of sincerity and a lot of strength,” Noemi explains.

  • RKOMI – Insuperabile

“Insuperabile” has special lyrics, as it talks about “a love that is conflicting and very dangerous, comparable to sports cars”, according to Rkomi.

  • SANGIOVANNI – Farfalle

This song was written after a period of crisis that Sangiovanni went through due to the pandemic. The title Farfalle (Butterflies) and the rest of the lyrics refer to the singer’s need to “find the butterflies in his stomach again”, perhaps with the help of a companion.

  • TANANAI – Sesso occasionale

Contrary to what one might think based on the title, “Sesso occassionale” (Casual sex) is about the exact opposite, about the fact that we should sometimes put our minds in their place and not just make reckless decisions in our (erotic) relationships with others.

  • YUMAN – Ora e qui

Sanremo Giovani winner Yuman invites us to “seize every moment, the classic ‘carpe diem'” through his song “Ora e qui”.

As a reminder, the Sanremo Festival will take place on 1-5 February at the Teatro Ariston in San Remo.

Eurovision 2022: Gabriele Corsi tested positive in Covid-19!

The spread of the Omicron variant, as expected, could not leave the microcosm of Eurovision unaffected. Posting on Instagram, the presenter of the Eurovision 2022 Allocation Draw, Gabriele Corsi, announced that he tested positive in Covid-19.

As a result, Corsi will not present the Allocation Draw of the 66th Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place at the Palazzo Madama in Turin on January 25.

As expected, Corsi expressed his disappointment with this development:

This was the suit (and the smile) I was supposed to wear at the Allocation Draw, in Turin, on tuesday. Unfortunately, I tested positive for Covid today. Apart from disappointment (which, I believe, is legitimate), I don’t have any symptoms. Compared to what others had to go through, this is nothing. I am really upset, however, I guess I can still use the suit for some other occasion and that I will wear my smile anyway. At this point, we all learned how to dodge both major and minor difficulties. And, in order to do that, we don’t need a nice suit. Just a big smile. The event is just postponed. See you all in Turin in May!

With Corsi’s illness taking place two days before the draw, it remains unknown who will co-host Tuesday’s event with Carolina Di Domenico.

Tuesday’s draw will determine whether the countries will participate in the First Semifinal (Tuesday, May 10) or in the Second Semifinal (Thursday, May 12). Also, again based on the draw it will be determined if they appear in the first or second half of the semifinal. We remind you that the exact order of appearance is announced later by the organizers and after it has first been approved by the EBU.

Eurovision 2022: Pots and Participants of Semifinals Allocation Draw revealed!

The semi-finals draw will take place on Tuesday 25 January at 12:00 CET, from the Palazzo Madama e Casaforte degli Acaja in Turin. At the same time there will be a ceremony of handing over the keys of the contest or as it is widely known, the Host City Insignia from the previous hosts Rotterdam to the Italian organizers.

The allocation draw will determine whether the countries will participate in the First Semifinal (Tuesday, May 10) or the Second Semifinal (Thursday, May 12). Also, again based on the draw it will be determined if they appear in the first or second half of the semifinal. We remind you that the exact order of appearance is announced later by the organizers and after it has first been approved by the EBU.

The draw will be presented by TV presenters Carolina di Domenico and Gabriele Corsi. Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb and Turin Mayor Stefano Lo Russo will be present.

Friends of the contest will be able to watch the draw on Eurovision’s YouTube channel or on Rai’s streaming service.

Semi-final draw: How does it work?

Italy, as the host country, together with the other 4 members of the so-called “Big 5” (France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom) do not compete in the Semifinals, but vote in one of them… so before the competing countries in Semifinals, it will be determined at random which of the Semifinals the Big 5 will be allowed to vote for.

The next part of the draw will determine in which Semifinal and in which half of the respective Semifinal the remaining 36 participating countries will appear.

The 36 countries of the semifinals are selected from 6 different pots:

Pot 1

  • Albania
  • Croatia
  • Montenegro
  • North Macedonia
  • Serbia
  • Slovenia

Pot 2

  • Denmark
  • Australia
  • Finland
  • Iceland
  • Norway
  • Sweden

Pot 3

  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Georgia
  • Israel
  • Russia
  • Ukraine

Pot 4

  • Cyprus
  • Greece
  • Malta
  • Bulgaria
  • Portugal
  • San Marino

Pot 5

  • Estonia
  • Lithuania
  • Latvia
  • Moldova
  • Poland
  • Romania

Pot 6

  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Switzerland
  • Czech Republic
  • Ireland
  • Netherlands

Drawing countries from different pots helps to reduce the chance of so-called neighbourly voting and increases suspense in the Semi-Finals.
