Eurovision 2022: The spectators at the Pala Olimpico must wear a mask!

Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza announced on Thursday (April 28th) that the use of the mask will be mandatory indoors until June 15th.

The rule states that the use of the FFP2 mask is mandatory on public transport, in cinemas, in theaters and in all sporting events and competitions that take place indoors to reduce the risk of high transmission of COVID-19 infections.

In restaurants, malls and shops the use of a mask is not mandatory but is recommended.

Eurovision 2022: Stand-in rehearsals debuts today!

A few days before the delegations arrive at the Pala Olimpico where the 66th Eurovision Song Contest takes place, the hosts and after the stage is over, perform the so-called stand in rehearsals. This is a simulation of the stage performance that each country will present, of course having different person as performers and dancers, usually local artists.

This is done so that all participants know in advance and to a large extent, the television and directorial result of their appearance. Of course, delegations are often asked for changes, which sometimes take place and sometimes do not, always depending on the capabilities and moods of the organizers.

From today, Wednesday 20/4  and for the next days, all these rehearsals take place, which are very important for all the delegations and their preparation. The regular rehearsals of the countries start next Saturday, April 30th.

Eurovision 2022: More details about the Green Room released!

More information was announced by the stage designer of this year’s contest Francesca Montinaro, presenting the Green Room for the Eurovision 2022 Song Contest.

Stage designer Francesca explained that her inspiration for designing the Green Room for this year’s Eurovision is a verdant garden. Home plants and Italian gardens, along with creating a connection with nature, are the main source of inspiration for the design.

The concept behind this year’s scene is “The Sun Within” which is based on the movements and light of a moving sun. The stage is able to show theatrical movement, which is framed by water and has a lush Italian garden surrounding the rays in front of it. This lush garden of the Green Room will be in front of the stage. This can be clearly seen in a 3D animation that was released a few days ago.

The mind behind the design of this year’s stage is Francesca Montinaro, who has also created the stages of the Sanremo Music Festival twice (2013 and 2019). Montinaro explained the inspiration behind the design of the green room:

We’re part of nature and nature is a part of us.
We never forget it when we design.

The Green Room will be located right in front of the stage, as happened in last year’s competition, and is inspired by the Baroque garden feel, such as those at Villa d’Este, Castel Gandolfo, Villa Lante or other estates throughout Italy. The water around the stage that will be located between the Green Room and the main stage will remind people of fountains in a park.

Italian public broadcaster RAI has just announced that Amadeus, artistic director and presenter of Sanremo from 2020 onwards, will return to these two positions not only in Sanremo 2023 but also 2024!

Amadeus will be the Artistic Director and presenter of the 2023 and 2024 editions of the San Remo Italian Song Festival. This was agreed this morning during a meeting at which Rai CEO Carlo Fuortes, along with Prime Time CEO Stefano Coletta, welcomed Amadeus into a long and cordial conversation. “I am pleased and honored by the proposal of CEO Carlo Fuortes and Prime Time CEO Stefano Coletta. Having received this offer now allows me to work immediately. I look forward to starting,” said Amadeus.

RAI

We expect and hope for success from Italy in the next two years, as it was Amadeus who, as the artistic director, chose Måneskin to compete in Sanremo 2021, leading them to victory in Eurovision 2021, but also Mahmood & Blanco this year, who are already considered one of the biggest favorites to win Eurovision on home soil in Turin!

Eurovision 2022: RAI unveiled the first designs of the stage!

RAI, the host broadcaster for the 66th Eurovision Song Contest, has unveiled the impressive stage our 41 artists will be performing on in Turin this May.

As you read in our exclusive article months ago, acts can look forward to taking to The Sun Within – an ambitious new stage concept based on the movements and light of a kinetic sun.

Eurovision fans will witness a spectacular stage with the ability to showcase theatrical motion, which is framed by water and will have a lush Italian garden lapping up the rays in front of it.

Multimedia artist and stage designer Francesca Montinaro is the creative talent behind the design, which will present each of our 41 participating artists in a unique way, as they perform their songs to the rest of the world.

The kinetic sun, source of spectacular movements and tricks of light, rules the stage and represents our Italian attitude: always on the move, rebellious, creative, welcoming, passionate, intuitive. We are the ones with the sun within, and this is our way to be in this world!

Viewers tuning in to the 66th edition of Eurovision Song Contest – taking place in Turin on 10, 12 and 14 May – can look forward to becoming immersed in a breathtaking new visual experience, alongside the usual diverse musical soundscape that Eurovision fans have long cherished the contest for. Eurovision 2022: Perugia as the first location of the postcards!

The shooting of the postcards for the 66th Eurovision Song Contest 2022 has begun, with Perugia being revealed as the first location.

RAI started shooting the postcards related to the new slogan  “The Sound of Beauty“, in beautiful and picturesque locations throughout the country. After all, it is obvious that Italy has a variety of beauty in both mountainous and coastal areas.

Cinguetterai reports that filming began yesterday in central Perugia, with the postcards set to be filmed throughout the rest of Italy in the coming weeks. RAI has not yet revealed details about the selected locations.

The postcards appear before the start of each entry in the competition, with each country having its own video. It is traditionally used to promote the host country of that year’s competition but also to present the singer or band that is going to participate.

In 2021 the postcard displayed all the artists in a small house in a unique place in the Netherlands. The artists filmed their presence in front of a green screen and then placed it on a house that was full of objects related to them.

Below you can see the postcard of Greece in 2021, in Rotterdam.
