Moldova: Online voting for the first time in Etapa Națională 2023!

On March 4, starting at 18:00, the Etapa Națională 2023 will take place. For the first time, TRM offers viewers the opportunity to vote for free, online, for the artist that will represent our country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023.

The online and free voting system is implemented as an novelty within the National Preselection. It aims to facilitate broad public participation in the selection of the winner of the Etapa Națională 2023 and increase the transparency of the entire process. In this sense, the number of votes cast by viewers will be displayed in real time on the screen. The implementation of this accessible, secure and innovative voting system is an new action of the Public Broadcaster’s Digitization Strategy.

Online voting will be available after the “start voting” announcement. In order to vote, viewers will go through three steps:

  1. They will access the link or scan the QR code displayed on the screen and register with their mobile phone number on the voting platform. Persons abroad can also register on the platform, if they have a mobile phone number registered with operators in the Republic of Moldova
  2. Viewers will receive a confirmation code via SMS to the registered phone number.
  3. After entering the confirmation code on the platform, viewers will be able to choose their favorite song from the list of 10 contestants of the National Final.

From the same phone number, you can vote only once, for one competitor.

With the implementation of online voting, viewers will have more time to express their choice, 35 minutes being granted in this regard.

The final result will be determined by 50% jury vote and 50% public vote. The members of the jury will vote by ballots that will include the titles of the tracks and the names of the participants. They will award competitors between 1 and 12 points just like Eurovision. The track with the highest total score will be declared the winner.

But until we learn who is going to represent Moldova in Eurovision 2023, lets remember their song for last year’s contest.  Last year, Moldova was represented by Zdob şi Zdub and the Advahov Brothers for the first time with the song “Trenuleţul” which finished in 7th place in the Grand Final while also managing to secure the 2nd place in the televote:
