Ireland: Linda Martin wants to return to Eurovision in a duet with Johnny Logan!

Irish singer Linda Martin, who holds two places in the top 2 of Eurovision, said in a recent interview that she wants to return to the stage of the Contest for the third time.

In fact, she revealed that she does not want to do it alone, but as a duet with the gold winner of the Competition, Johnny Logan.

Specifically stated:

I think we could pull it off but it needs the right song and I know that Johnny has the ability to write it. I often say it to him and he says: “Oh please, don’t start!” But I’m going to keep at him because I know there is that ballad still in there!

In fact, Linda Martin wants to bring back the strong ballads at Eurovision, in a contest that now has a lot of tricks but also declares her preference for an exclusive way of voting:

It’s been taken too far. It’s distracting when you have someone dressed as a banana,’ she said.

There are half a dozen amazing acts every year but I’m not happy with the voting system and wonder if the right acts are getting through.’ The singer also said she does not agree with the public phone-in vote system and that the Eurovision should return to a jury voting in every country.

I think it’s obvious that the phone-in votes are a money-making system for the Eurovision but I don’t think it gets the right result…

Finally, she added that many entries are now trying to catch the eye only to get votes, while she revealed that she turned off the television when Italy won last year with Måneskin, criticizing the singer’s half-naked appearance.

Linda Martin who participated twice in Eurovision, once in 1984, with the song Terminal 3 (2nd place) and once in 1992, with Why Me? (1st place), declares ready to win Eurovision again.

Despite her criticism, Linda Martin will definitely be watching the Eurovision when it is broadcast from Turin in May.

I don’t think the music industry will be opened up by May but if it goes live, I will watch it.

Eurovision 2022: Local Media Reveals New Details of Turin’s Hosting Plans

Local media revealed new details regarding Eurovision Song Contest 2022 hosting plans, scheduled to take place in Turin this May.

The local media outlet “Torino Oggi” has reported some new updates regarding the preparation of the city of Turin in order to host the upcoming Eurovision Song contest 2022. Two areas stand out to local city official, perfect for temporary structures to be set up around the arena to provide the extra space for all the required facilities needed to host the Eurovision Song Contest.

The first temporary structure will be located in front of the arena which is set to host the 66th Eurovision Song Contest. It will serve as the press center for the event, as well as providing additional space for the delegations to relax.

At Piazza Castello, more temporary structures will be raised to create a venue specifically for the artists that are going to perform in this historic location. It is also speculated that this is the location of the Eurovillage. The exact location of the Eurovillage, however, has not been announced yet.

It was also stated that there are no news regarding ticket sales, with local media speculating that delays are a result of the constant uncertainty regarding the pandemic. Last year’s contest took place with a limited number as well as many national final events, including Italy’s selection, to be have some capacity restrains.

As of now, it is not publicly known whether Covid-19 protection measures will be taken, such as audience capacity reduction, in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Live-on-Tape will most likely be used for another year in Italy. Live-on-Tape performances were introduced last year as a last resort plan for any delegation that could not travel to Rotterdam, to ensure that the 2022 contest will take place.

The city of Turin will host Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in May 10, 12 and 14, 2022. The contest venue will be PalaOlimpico. The arena opened in 2005 and has hosted many concerts and sports events, including the ice-hokey tournament during the Winter Olympic Games in 2006.

Norway: Elsie Bay’s “Death Of Us” is accused of plagiarism!

It is the favorite according to the odds, at least at this stage, for the victory in MGP 2022 and the representation of Norway in the upcoming Eurovision song contest. However, controversy has been caused in the last few hours on Twitter, as there are many users who claim that Elsie Bay’s Death Of Us has very strong similarities, not with one, but with two songs.

Specifically, Twitter users find several similarities in Death Of Us, both with Lana Del Rey’s Young And Beautiful and Aurora’s Forgotten Love, who is also Norwegian.

To emphasize these similarities, Twitter users also made relevant videos, where they compare the two songs, in spots where the similarities are more than enough.

You can listen to them below and draw your own conclusions:

  • Comparison with Lana Del Rey’s Young And Beautiful:
  • Comparison with Aurora’s Forgotten Love:

We remind you that Elsie Bay’s Death Of Us participates as a direct finalist in the MGP 2022 final on February 19. But next Saturday, January 15, we will have the opportunity to see her live her, singing Death Of Us in the first semifinal of MGP 2022.

Finland: Information about the UMK 2022 songs!

Right after the announcement about the participating artists in Finland‘s national final for Eurovision 2022, UMK, the finnish broadcaster YLE brought some information about the songs to light!

  • Cyan Kicks – Hurricane

Cyan Kicks’ song overwhelms the listener irresistibly like a hurricane. The song has an immense drive, is interspersed with pop hooks and constitutes a truly massive production. Hurricane is the band’s best song to date. Amaranthes Elize Ryd participated in the songwriting, which gives the song elements that really stick.

  • BESS – Ram pam pam

A dance bomb at the after ski party in the spring of 2022 and a potential streaming hit. A wonderfully relaxed song that puts you in a good mood. The song has several pop hooks where Bess’ raspy voice comes into its own. A song with impressions from Lady Gaga and Nylon Beat that fits perfectly into the UMK party spirit with its distorted bass and pop beat.

  • The Rasmus – Jezebel

1980s rock trends float together with The Rasmus and Lauri Ylönens identifiable, modern sound.

  • Younghearted – Sun numero

A dynamic song. A touching and personal ballad wich flows together with a story that you can identify with and a production that grows towards the end and is reminiscent of epic indie greats like M83.

  • Olivera – Thank God I’m An Atheist

A ballad. Thank God I’m an Atheist is a beautiful and moving ballad that already captivates with its name and the first beats. Olivera’s expressive voice comes into its own, and the song, which is made up of small elements, lands in a very impressive whole. The song is very current and still sounds completely unique.

  • Tommi Läntinen – Elämä kantaa mua

Finish rock tradition mixed with a Coldplay-like big, internationel pop rock sound. Läntinen’s charismatic and sensual voice, his life experience and the captivating chorus are interspersed in an uplifting pop rock song.

  • Isaac Sene – Kuuma jäbä

A dance groovy song with 80’s influences. Sexy sound.

The releases

Just like last year, each song will be released on a different date, along with a lyric video:

Poland: Krystian Ochman seems to be the chosen one!

Despite the rumors that existed all the previous time and wanted Daria with Paranoia to be the one who will represent Poland in Eurovision 2022, a safe information we have received, states that in the end Krystian Ochman is the one who will go to Turin.

Many fans in Poland wanted Krystian Ochman to represent the country in the contest, especially after his victory in The Voice of Poland, which by the way is broadcast on public television. A few days earlier, he confirmed the rumors, saying that he has submitted a song, in the internal selection made by TVP this year.

Recently, I did something with ATUT and BLACK HI-FI, maybe for Eurovision. […] Olek Kowalski, a great producer, and also in favor of making modern songs, with a beat, singing at a faster pace with a nice melody. We worked together in the studio to have a song suited for Eurovision, but one that I can carry on my own.

The information that told us that he is the one who has been selected for the Eurovision Song Contest, also speaks of a dynamic ballad, which highlights the range of his voice.

Although the above is information that we can not yet cross-check and fully confirm, we decided to transfer all of the above with reservation.

TVP announces the artist who will represent Poland at Eurovision 2022 is expected on January 15.
