Greece: Is ERT considering the public voting in song selection for Eurovision 2023?

A publication that shakes up the current situation and, should it has a basis, overturns the developments regarding the selection of the Greek participation in Eurovision 2023. According to the Typologies, ERT is considering a proposal for public voting in the selection process of the song that will represent Greece in the 67th Eurovision Song Contest Eurovision!

In the Paron paper and more specifically in Typologies column, which is the most valid television column of the printed and electronic press, is mentioned that:

“There is a proposal and it is being seriously considered this year by the management of ERT to change the way of selecting the Greek participation in the Eurovision contest of Spring 2023 in the United Kingdom. The proposal is for the television audience to choose which of the songs that entered the final selection round will be the one that will represent the country at Eurovision. According to information, while this idea is considered “commercial” for television viewing, it stumbles in the financial part as additional funds will be required for the production.”

The above mentioned are strongly related to what Maria Kozakou stated after the end of this year’s competition in her television interview on ANT1 and on Grigoris Arnautoglou’s show, The Tonight Show

Maria Kozakou had stated that, after having put Eurovision things in a row, after having made suggestions like Stefania and Amanda in recent years, and since the public has been trained in some way, maybe we could also take into account the public voting in the selection.

“Little by little it [public voting] has to enter the process … the five or the ten best songs should be evaluated by people.”

Cyprus: Andrew Lambrou is in Stockholm for the recording of his Eurovision entry!

Andrew Lambrou arrived in snowy Stockholm in order to record the song with which he will compete in the 67th Eurovision Song Contest.

The representative of Cyprus in Eurovision 2023 and RIK, the Cypriot public broadcaster, have really entered into rhythm for Eurovision, since unlike this year when the decisions were made at a fairly advanced stage, this time everyone’s wishes are to have time ahead of them, so that there is also the most appropriate preparation.

Andrew Lambrou left his native Australia, which has summer these months, in order to come to Stockholm, where today snowed for the first time this year.

Delighted, Andrew uploaded a short video from snowy Stockholm, saying that it is his first experience in such cold, but also in snow!

According to what was conveyed to us by the Cypriot delegation, Andrew Lambrou’s trip to Stockholm has to do with the recording of the song, with which he will represent his country in the Eurovision contest. This practically means that the song is already selected. More details about the creators have yet to be announced, but the fact that he is in Stockholm for the recording makes us believe that Swedish musicians will sign the Cypriot entry to Eurovision 2023.

Immediately after the end of the recording, Andrew Lambrou will come for a few days to Athens and then to Cyprus, where he will give interviews and be present in the country’s media.

As we’ve said in a previous article, Germany will most likely hold another national final for Eurovision Song Contest 2023!

Belgium: Eurosong 2023 details revealed. Tom Dice among rumoured artists!

Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws made public more details about the Belgium national final for Eurovision 2023.  Seven candidates will compete in the Paleis 12 arena in Brussels to represent the country in Liverpool next year.

Eurosong 2023

Eurosong 2023 will be the chosen format to select the Belgian artist and song.  Newspaper HLN published the first details of this selection via their podcast De Mediawatchers.

According to the newspaper, the national selection will take place between January 7 till January 14.  The selection of the names of the artists and the songs that made it to the national final took place separately.  For this selection broadcaster VRT listened “hundreds of demos”.

During this week the seven candidates will perform three different songs.  However, they will only sing a song for the final.

Although the list of candidates is still a secret, HLN hinted some of the names that are likely to participate.  The main revelation is that Tom Dice could make a return as part of “The Starlings“, a duo act with his partner Kato.   Tom Dice already represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2010.

Former contestant of Eurosong 2014, Loredana could also make a return.  In total there would be five novel acts competing together with “a known candidate”.

There will be a professional jury for Eurosong 2023.  However, a 100% televote result will define who is going to Liverpool with the jury just offering their comments during the final.  It is not clear yet if there will be international jurors as was the case in Eurosong 2014 and 2016.

Austria: With internal selection in Eurovision 2023!

ORF, Austria‘s public broadcaster , has already started the search for a representative for Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool. For another year, Austria will select its representative by internal selection, as has been the practice in recent years.

Last weekend, ORF invited 15 artists who were found through internal live casting , either through the two producers Eberhard Forcher and Lukas Hillebrand . The recorded videos will be rated by the jury of the Austrian channel and some international experts of the Contest (about 25 people) and also by Eurovision fan clubs in several countries.

From those selected so far, ORF program director Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz and entertainment program manager Alexander Hofer will choose who will fly Austria’s flag in Liverpool next May. After three consecutive eliminations , the country seems determined to return to the Final .

Last year’s representatives of Austria were LUM!X and Pia Maria with the song “Halo” who, despite the great interest of the fans in their song, ultimately failed to make it to the Grand Final, finishing 15th  in the  first semi-final :
