Exclusive: Eurovision 2024 Winner Nemo to Perform in Athens for a One-Time Special Event

The winner of Eurovision 2024 is coming to Greece in the next few months, specifically to Athens. According to our exclusive information, Nemo will perform in a one-time-only appearance as part of a major annual music event that takes place in the Greek capital.

Nemo has wanted to perform in Greece from the start, not only because of the friendship developed with Marina Satti but also due to gaining a large number of fans there.

Thus, it didn’t take much convincing for him to say yes, and soon we will see them live in Athens, performing “The Code” at this unique event. More information is expected to be announced soon.

Switzerland: Head of delegation denies they considered pulling out of Eurovision 2024

After ERT, also the public broadcaster of Switzerland, through the head of the country’s delegation to the contest, denies the reports of the Norwegian VG and the Swedish Aftonbladet, according to which six countries were considering their withdrawal from the Eurovision 2024 final. Read more

Eurovision 2025: Grand Final to be held on May 10?

According to Swiss media reports, the most likely date for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is  May 10.

Local Swiss media reported that the CEO of the Hallenstadion in Zurich, a venue that could host the competition next May, said that the unofficial date for the final is May 10. It is said that the venue has been told by SRG SRR that it should be free for 6-8 weeks from early April to mid-May. In particular Philipp Musshafen, CEO of Hallenstadion, reported:

“The ESC is the biggest music event in the world. 180 million spectators! That would be invaluable advertising for Zurich, but also for the Hallenstadion. We were told to reserve six to eight weeks from around the beginning of April to mid-May 2025. With a possible, still unofficial, date for the final on May 10th.”

In recent years, the competition has been hosted in the middle weeks of May and the dates of May 6, 8 and 10 would fit this trend. The only major event around these dates that can “conflict” with Eurovision is the UEFA Europa League semi-final taking place on 8 May.

The dates 13, 15 and 17 May would both be free of major ‘clashes’ with other major pan-European events and still be in ‘mid-May 2025’. At present, no dates have been officially announced by the EBU or the broadcaster.

Eurovision 2025

The Eurovision 2025 song contest will be held in Switzerland following Nemo’s win with “The Code”. Switzerland won the Eurovision Song Contest for the third time, having won the 1956 and 1988 editions. Discussions will be held in the coming weeks with potential host cities across Switzerland.

Geneva interested to host Eurovision 2025!

We are just a few hours away from Nemo’s victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 and we have the first bid to host Eurovision 2025.

The city of Geneva has already signaled their interest to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

According to RTS, Geneva is taking serious steps to be the 2025 host city. In collaboration with the city of Geneva, Palexpo Geneva applied with the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR).

The Palexpo Congress and Exposition Centre has the capacity to be the arena for Eurovision 2025.  With nearly 32,000 m2, it can accommodate around 15,000 spectators.  Palexpo started working on their application for weeks together with the local government in Geneva in case of a Swizz victory.

If Geneva ends up hosting the event, to accommodate the competition, Palexpo Geneva will make all three of its convention centers available.

Today an extraordinary meeting of SRG SSR board will take place to discuss future plans for Eurovision 2025.  Furthermore, a task force will start working on Monday.

Eurovision 2024: Which rehearsal has the most views on TikTok?

Two days ago, the first rehearsals for all 37 entries officially concluded, and today the second rehearsals are expected to be completed, with the Big 5 and the host country Sweden taking the stage at the Malmö Arena for the second time! This means that we are getting closer to the Eurovision week, with the Dress and Jury Rehearsals for the first semi-final starting on Monday.

However, as we know on TikTok, all the first rehearsals are uploaded. Apart from their performances, we’ll also get a sneak peek backstage before they take the stage for the first time in a video of about one minute.

One of the many features of TikTok is the ability to add songs to each user’s video creation. However, the TikTok algorithm is usually able to detect the song used in the video, assign it to the correct track, and then include it in the total number of videos where that sound has been used. Based on this capability, the most popular songs before rehearsals were from the Netherlands and Italy. Will they receive the same promotion as before?

The ranking with all the entries (in brackets will be the day of the rehearsal) based on the increasing number of views after one week from the start of the first rehearsals on TikTok is as follows:

  1. Netherlands: Joost (fourth day) – Europapa – 3.2 milion views
  2. Greece: Marina Satti (third day) – ZARI – 2.7 million views

Based on the views from the first semi-final, the following countries will qualify (in ascending order): Poland, Serbia, Ukraine, Croatia, Ireland, Azerbaijan, Cyprus (seventh), Lithuania, Luxembourg, and Australia.

Similarly, from the second semi-final, the following countries will qualify: Netherlands, Greece, Switzerland, Georgia, Israel, Belgium, Armenia, Albania, Latvia, and Austria.

TikTok has played a significant role in the success of Eurovision songs in recent years. For example, Duncan Laurence’s winning entry “Arcade” became a global hit a year after winning the competition when it was used in over a million videos on TikTok. One of the earliest TikTok successes from Eurovision was Getter Jaani’s “Rockefeller Street”, which went viral on the platform in 2018 and has since been used in over two million videos. Let’s not forget that Armenia’s entry in 2022 by Rosa Linn with “Snap” gained over a billion views on the platform. Finally, Norway’s entry last year gained significant worldwide publicity months before the competition week, where it secured fifth place.

The next country to conduct its second rehearsal is Switzerland represented by Nemo and the song “The Code”.

Who is Nemo? 

Born in 1999 and coming from Biel, a small Swiss town, music has always played an essential role in Nemo’s life, considering they have been playing the violin, piano and drums ever since they were a child. Their career sparked in 2016, after they went viral, and until this day, Nemo’s music has gained traction with occupying several high positions on the Swiss charts. 

Nemo’s songs revolve around gender identity, mental health and finding one’s place in this world, themes which are also showcased on their Eurovision entry “The Code”. 

The Rehearsal 

Time for Switzerland’s Nemo to rehearse now – they are a musician, singer and songwriter with a big following in Switzerland. The Code is a mix of rap, drum ‘n’ bass and opera, and we’ve seen over pre-party season that Nemo has the vocal range to deliver all three.

Nemo is wearing the same outfit as in the first rehearsal made of pink and white fur (with matching fur boots!), and their main prop is a white circular platform two or three metres in diameter. It tips and pivots in all directions – Nemo climbs it, slides down it, dances on it, jumps off it – the whole thing is a showcase of balance, precision timing and codebreaking ambition.

Eurovision 2024: Which rehearsal had the most views on the third day?

Yesterday, rehearsals continued energetically, with the Malmö Arena hosting the first eight countries of the second semifinal! Be sure to also read our article from yesterday regarding the views of the eight countries that completed their rehearsals on Sunday.

However, as we know on TikTok, all the first rehearsals are uploaded. Apart from their performances, we’ll also get a sneak peek backstage before they take the stage for the first time in a video of about one minute.

One of the many features of TikTok is the ability to add songs to each user’s video creation. However, the TikTok algorithm is usually able to detect the song used in the video, assign it to the correct track, and then include it in the total number of videos where that sound has been used. Based on this capability, the most popular songs before rehearsals were from the Netherlands and Italy. Will they receive the same promotion as before?

In less than 24 hours (April 30, 2024, time  CET), since the first clip from the rehearsals was uploaded, we have a indicative sample of which rehearsal was favored by the audience (here it should be noted that the videos were uploaded one after the other with a one and a half hour interval and there was a significant delay in their publication).

The rehearsals that had the most views are:

  1. Greece: Marina Satti – ZARI – 1.6 million views
  2. Switzerland: Nemo – The Code – 391 thousand views
  3. Albania: Besa – TiTan – 221.7 thousand views
  4. Austria: Kaleen – We Will Rave – 199.4 thousand views
  5. Armenia: LADANIVA – Jako – 183 thousand views
  6. Malta: Sarah Bonnici – Loop –  175.3 thousand views
  7. Czechia: Aiko – Pedestal – 165.2 thousand views
  8. Denmark: SABA – SAND – 156.7 thousand views

With this small sample, we can infer that:

  • It’s worth noting that with the first rehearsal of the Greek entry has been published 18 hours prior, within this timeframe, ZARI achieved a record number of views compared to any other entry in previous years – where TikTok is used as a platform for posting snapshots of the first rehearsals. The Greek entry seems to have resonance across Europe as it has gathered 170 thousand likes.
  • Second in the ranking is the favorite for victory, Switzerland, which trails the Greek entry by 4 times in views.
  • Many rearrangements can occur between the fourth and eighth positions since there are countries whose rehearsals were published at the end of the day, resulting in them not receiving enough publicity.

The top six countries with the most views from the two days are as follows:

  1. Greece: Marina Satti – ZARI – 1.6 million views
  2. Poland: LUNA – The Tower – 1.2 milion views
  3. Serbia: Teya Dora – Ramonda – 842.2 thousand views
  4. Ukraine: alyona alyona & Jerry Heil – Teressa & Maria – 817.7 thousand views
  5. Croatia: Baby Lasagna – Rim Tim Tagi Dim – 682.7 thousand views

The video for this track gave us hope that Nemo might bring something super-creative to the Eurovision stage, and they have NOT disappointed – Nemo is wearing an outfit made of pink and white fur (with matching fur boots!), and their main prop is a white circular platform two or three metres in diameter. It tips and pivots in all directions – Nemo climbs it, slides down it, dances on it, jumps off it – the whole thing is a showcase of balance, precision timing and codebreaking ambition.

Switzerland: Nemo Performs “The Code” Live For the First Time!

Last night, Nemo, performed “The Code”, the Swiss entry for Eurovision 2024 for the first time in front of a live audience during “MusicStar – Die Revival-Show” which was aired on SRF 1.

The performance was pre-recorded in SRF Studios in Zurich last Saturday. Nemo also performed at the Eurovision-Spain Pre-Party in Madrid this weekend.

Nemo will perform “The Code” fourth in Semi-Final Two on May 9.
