Sweden: Detailed results of Melodifestivalen 2022 released!

The SVT (Swedish public television) released the detailed results of Melodifestivalen 2022. As you will see below, the age categories did not affect the results, which were in line with the absolute number of votes except for the semi-final of the second chance, where two songs would not have qualified for the final if this system was not implemented.

There are two things worth mentioning. The first one is that Anders Bagge had about half a million more votes than the winner Cornelia Jakobs. The second is that Anna Bergendahl and Cazzi Opeia, despite collecting fewer votes in the semifinal of the second chance than Alvaro Estrella and Lisa Miskovsky respectively, got the ticket for the final as based on the age categories they got higher amount of points. Anna Bergendahl even had almost 200,000 votes less than Alvaro Estrella and despite of that was the one who had more points in the age categories.

Despite her second place in the public voting, Cornelia Jakobs will represent Sweden at Eurovision 2022, with the song Hold Me Closer. Sweden participates in the second semifinal and will appear in the second half.

Greece: Listen to “Heaven is Sin”, Good Job Nicky’s proposal for Eurovision 2022!

The song that Good Job Nicky selected to send to ERT for Eurovision 2022 is called “Heaven is Sin” and it has been published by his record label Colbalt Music.

Nikolas Varthakouris- or as known Good Job Nicky– was among the top five contestants in the run to get the ticket to represent Greece in Turin.

Watch the official music video of “Heaven is Sin“:

Through Eurovisionfun you first read, on May 29, just a few days after the final of the previous contest, that Good Job Nicky is interested in raising the Greek colors at Eurovision 2022. During the summer we fully confirmed that the young artist is preparing a song, in order to submit it to ERT. On September 24, you first read here some first information about his song, that it is a mid-tempo, cinematic piece, that fits perfectly in the special voice of Nikolas.

The young artist’s proposal had Fokas Evangelinos as a stage director and Elias Kokotos as project manager- same with Amanda Georgiadi Tenfjord, the Greek representer of Eurovision this year.

What do you think of “Heaven is Sin”? Would that song be a good choice for Greece this year?

Malta: The change of song was requested right after MESC 2022!

A few weeks ago, 22-year-old Emma Muscat and the song “Out of Sight” won MESC 2022, the Maltese competition for the nomination of this year’s representative of the island.

However, although Emma received the highest ratings from both viewers and the jury, Maltese TV chose to change the winning song.

Following the selection, “Out Of Sight” received a somewhat lukewarm response from fans, and as a result Malta looked for a new song for Emma, who is one of Malta’s biggest pop stars.

Maltese television has chosen to seek help from Denmark, according to the Danish site dr.dk.

Anders Fredslund Hansen, who runs the music company “The Arrangement”, said:

The day after MESC, I received a text message from their Eurovision manager asking for my help. They had found a winner, but were looking for a new song that could surpass “Out of Sight”.

Anders also participated in 2013, when Denmark with Emmelie de Forest won the competition. At the request of Maltese television, Anders Fredslund sent to the organizers a few songs.

Anders’s statements even confirm another exclusive Eurovisionfun’ news about the change of the Maltese participation and when it was decided.

Eventually, two were selected and recorded as a demo. The choice was the known “I Am What I Am”, which is written by two Danish musicians Stine Kinck and Julie Aagaard.

Stine Kinck has previously participated in the Danish Grand Prix as a soloist, while Julie Aagaard, who also publishes music under the name Kill J, this year had both songs in the finals of Denmark and Sweden.

For Anders,

The song is incredibly catchy and then it has an uplifting message, something that traditionally goes well at Eurovision.

“I Am What I Am” was even submitted to this year’s Melodifestivalen, but was not selected.

We remind you that Malta will participate in the 2nd Semifinal. Listen to “I Am What I Am”

Ukraine: The Kalush Orchestra will compete with live on tape video, except the war is over by May!

We had a significant last minute development recently. According to many websites, Ukraine will compete in Eurovision 2022, with the live on tape video of the Kalush Orchestra, unless the war ends by May, when the band will be able to go to Turin to sing live on stage. Orchestra reported on the issue:

Despite the fighting, the KALUSH Orchestra will record their performance in a safe place, which will be sent to the organizers of the song contest, and in case of our victory over the occupiers by May, our delegation will go to Italy and sing live all over Europe!

Thus, after yesterday’s confirmation by the Italian organizers that Ukraine will take part in the contest, despite the Russian invasion, now the way of participation of the Kalush Orchestra has been clarified. In the next few days, the Ukrainian band will have to videotape the live on tape video of their participation and send it to the EBU.

Simona Martorelli (Rai’s director of international relations) said in a statement on Monday (March 14th) that Ukraine’s public television would normally take part, while she was also impressed by their compliance with all the deadlines.

The Ukrainian delegation has confirmed its presence and so far has met all the deadlines. It is also preparing to make the backup video of the show, which is requested by all delegations in case the delegation or part of it cannot be presented in Turin.

With Stefania constantly dropping their odds on bets and being the first favorite to win, the Ukrainians seem to have thought of every detail to ensure their presence in Turin, despite the Russian invasion of the country, for three weeks.
