However in the comment section of the video, as well as in many recent posts in Eurovision’s social media, there are many comments that disapprove Israel’s participation in this year’s contest. In the same time, they ask Marina Satti and ERT, the Greek broadcaster, to demand Israel’s exclusion, and in case this doesn’t happen they want Greece itself, to withdraw from the contest.

Greece is not the only country to receive this kind of messages. The public broadcasters of Iceland, Ireland as well as that of Finland, have all received a great amount of messages, demanding each country’s withdrawal from the contest, in case Israel competes.

According to news247.gr, ERT answered to all these accusations, saying that the topic of a possible Greek withdrawal from the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, has not been present in any conversation in the channel!

In detail, Dora Chiraki the Director of Corporate Communication of ERT, stated:

“As of now, no official request have been made on Israel’s exclusion by EBU, by any of the competing countries, as was the case with Russia, for example. There is nothing official. If there is something in the future, then we will discuss it.”

Greece: A song with pontic lyra along those submitted for Marina Satti!

The submission window set by ERT to submit songs with which Marina Satti will represent Greece in Eurovision 2024, closed on December 1st. For the time being, Marina Satti and her team, in accordance with ERT’s team, must evaluate and choose the one song that will compete in the contest in May, at Malmö.

In previous article we informed you that Marina Satti has already listen to a major part of the 150 songs submitted to ERT for the Greek representation in Eurovision 2024, and she has rejected all of them.

Some of the composers that have confirmed to have submitted a song to ERT are Peter Boström and Dimitri Stassos, as well as Kostas Karalis.

According to ASTRA TV, along the 150 songs submitted for Eurovision 2024, is a song signed by the renowned and awarded composers George Julius, Diana Jovolou and El Christo Kemanetzidis.

The song is in English, it’s special and original, while its music is a very nice combination between Balkan sounds and some pop touches, as well as the Pontic Lyra which is sure to make an impression.

What’s Next?

With all the procedures running and being more optimistic than ever, Marina Satti continues her feverish preparations for the contest. December finds the Greek representative representative in the studio for the recording of the Greek participation, while she continues to evaluate all 150 songs submitted by Greek and foreign creators.

The song can either be one of those subitted to ERT, or one of the songs written by Marina herself and her creative team, which is going to select the Greek representation as no Greek jury will be involved this year.

Greece: Will ERT host a show to celebrate 50 years of Eurovision participation?

It was reported earlier today, via the television program “Mega Kalimera”, that ERT is working on the idea of hosting an anniversary show in April to honor the 50th anniversary of Greece’s debut participation in the competition with Marinella and “Krasi, Thalassa kai t’ agori mou”.

Among the candidate names for the presentation of the event are Daphne Bokotta and Fotis Sergulopoulos with Jenny Melita. The aforementioned names have all served as commentators for Greek public television in the past.

Nevertheless, no details regarding the character and content of the program are provided above, and it is stressed that this is merely an idea whose execution has not yet been determined.

Greece: Marina Satti’s song will not be decided by a broadcaster’s committee!

The song with which Marina Satti will represent Greece in Malmö and Eurovision 2024 will not be chosen via a televised show and hence by the audience. Thus, it was mentioned in “SUPER Katerina” morning show, that no jury will be involved in the selection of the song either.

The abolishment of a special committee for Eurovision 2024

The decision-makers have decided that there will be no involvement of a committee in choosing the Greek song for the upcoming competition. Βearing in mind the severe criticism ERT faced earlier this year about its selection process which led to the worst Greek result in Eurovision history, the reason behind this decision is considered quite obvious.

As a short reminder, the jury’s preferences were vastly different from the audience committee’s ones. Regardless Melissa Mantzouki’sLiar” finishing first by a wide margin in the audience’s vote, the jury ranked her last, depriving her of the Greek representation in Liverpool.

As a result, in order to keep a possible committee out of the spotlight, ERT appears to have made the decision that the selection of Marina Satti’s song for Eurovision 2024 will take place without the involvement of any committee. Nevertheless, Marina Satti herself was chosen as the Greek representative without the involvement of any committee.

Greece: Marina Satti’s Eurovision song will not be selected through a national final

At ERT, the preparations for 2024 Eurovision Song Contest are underway. It seems that the idea of hosting a television show to select the song Marina Satti will sing to represent Greece in Malmö is is being shelved.

The plans for hosting a television show to choose Marina Satti’s Eurovision song are reportedly stalled, according to an article published by Typologies today. The artist’s fame as well as the broadcaster’s economic condition are what ultimately drove ERT to make this decision.

In our view, ERT made the right decision since it would have been preferable if Marina Satti and her team, along with the Greek public television, chose the song they believe would be most appropriate for the competition and her as an artist.

The funds that would have been used to produce this show can be used to fund either the stage perfromance or the production of a compelling music video.

More than 50 songs have already been submitted for Marina Satti

Meanwhile, songs for Marina Satti’s 2024 Eurovision participation are still being submitted. More than fifty songs have already been submitted, some of them by well-known musicians, according to information that was disclosed on the television program Super Katerina.

Interested artists may submit their proposals to eurovision2024@ert.gr through email until December 1st.

Greece: New Head of Delegation for Eurovision 2024 appointed by ERT!

A successful and experienced team was assigned to work on the Eurovision 2024 project by ERT, Greece’s public broadcaster.

Following an one-year break, Mrs. Sofia Dranidou, Head of International Relations at ERT, is once again the Head of the Greek Delegation and Mrs. Dora Chiraki, Director of Corporate Communications at ERT, takes on the role of Head of the Eurovision 2024 project.

During the 2021 and 2022 competitions, they both occupied such positions. Greece’s two consecutive top-ten finishes in 2021 and 2022 were largely due to their diligence, professionalism, and in-depth understanding of the contest. The fact that both of them are returning this year is a very good indicator, meaning that ERT is taking the 2024 competition far more seriously and in a different manner than it did in 2023.

Mrs. Dora Chiraki announced the news through an Instagram picture with the caption “the journey begins”. In the image that has been shared, we can see Mrs. Chiraki and Mrs. Dranidou with staff members from MINOS EMI, the label that Marina Satti is working with.

Victor Vernicos: I didn’t get the support I needed from my surrounding team during Eurovision!

Victor Vernicos revealed, for the first time, in an interview with SKAI TV that he did not receive the anticipated and essential support from the team he worked with during his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest this year.

When asked about the factors that contributed to the poor outcome of the Greek participation in May, he placed the blame on the team that was behind him. This group consists of the Panik Records record label, the ERT executives, and the artistic team at large. In more detail, he said:

On the one hand, I was responsible if something went wrong, which it certainly did given that we didn’t get the desired outcome, but on the other hand Ι wasn’t! I exerted all of my effort. I may not have had the biggest help from the team around me!

The individuals in charge of the Greek 2023 Eurovision participation project were unfit for their roles. Victor as an artist was not a suitable choice in the first place, especially considering his inexperience. But, for instance, it was Victor’s team selected the infamous second rehearsal clip that went viral for all the wrong reasons in Greece, not him. For those who may not know, every delegation provides the EBU with the precise number of seconds of their performance that they would like to be featured in both the television broadcast medley and on the contest’s official social media accounts.

Victor could be held accountable for many things, but his team could be held accountable for far more. The way that Marina Satti was selected this year is evidence that we, as Eurovisionfun, through our articles and YouTube livestreams, have been heard, and we are pleased with it.

Victor Vernicos, with his song “What they Say”, represented Greece in the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest and finished 13th in the Second Semi Final, receiving only 12 points from Cyprus and 2 points from Armenia.
