Germany: The first artists who have expressed interest in representing the nation in Malmö!

Will “The German Finale 2024” the national final for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, in Malmö feature a significant reunion of the “Our Song for Liverpool” contestants from the previous year? The chance is real, as five (out of 14) participants who ran for German representation last year intend to run again in 2024. The first new names are already being circulated.

Melissa Mantzoukis

Melissa was not able to represent Greece this year in Eurovision, but she hopes to achieve it in 2024 with Germany. This time and according to our exclusive information, she has registered for “Das Deutsche Finale 2024“,  the national final which will be held by the country’s public television to select the artist and song that will represent the nation in Malmö. More exclusive Eurovisionfun information can be read here .

Betül

Betül intended to represent Germany in Liverpool with her song “Heaven”, she made it all the way to the TikTok vote and ended up in the 4th place. The singer and her team have already expressed interest in applying again. Except “Heaven”, Betül has so far created a stir in Germany, mostly because of her Turkish sound. Since Turkey is no longer participating in Eurovision, a Turkish sound or the choice of singing in Turkish will cause a sensation and might upset people.

From Fall To Spring

The group was defeated last year in the TikTok vote by Ikke Hipgold. This year, however, with “Draw the Line” they gained a lot of new fans in the Eurovision community. They even claimed in February that they were still interested in competing in Eurovision. The band has confirmed it once again and has already released the song with which they want to take part in “The German Finale 2024” next year. FFTS is likely to be among the favorites if selected for the national selection.

 

Ikke Hüftgold

ULFL runner-up Ikke Hipgold has already expressed his interest in re-entering the national selection, announcing last month that he would prefer to go to Eurovision representing Germany. His song is considered to be ready. He is currently storming the German charts with Vanessa Mai and their song “Igel”.

Mitchy and André Katawazi

Mitchy and André Katawazi have confirmed that they want to take part in the German National Selection again next year and are already working on new music.

Will Church

It has been known for some time that the runner-up and jury winner in “Our Song for Liverpool” Will Church , also wants to try again. He shared it on his YouTube account in May. Therefore, we can assume that he will apply for “The German Finale 2024”.

Basti Schmidt

“FameMaker” winner and “The Voice of Germany” finalist Basti’s interest for Eurovision is yet to be confirmed. There seems to be some interest for the upcoming contest, as he attended a songwriting camp in Norway along with JOWST, EMMY and the Norwegian head of delegation Stig Karlsen. Basti also recently released a new single, “Forevermore”.

These are the first names, which are most likely to set an official participation for the representation of Germany. We now have to wait for the official announcements so we can see who will be the successor of Lord of the Lost!

Germany: Will Melissa Mantzoukis participate at “Das Deutsche Finale 2024”?

Melissa Mantzoukis did not get to compete in this year’s Eurovision, but she hopes to do so in 2024 through Germany. According to our exclusive information, she has already registered for ‘Das Deutsche Finale 2024’, the national final that will be held by the country’s public television to select the performer and song that will represent the country in Malmö.

The performer, who finished third in the German Idol competition in 2022, came close to representing Greece this year. She won by a wide margin in the voting of the 70-member audience committee, but the 7 members of the ERT panel had a different take, and by ranking her last, they denied her entry into the competition. As a result, the nation was ultimately represented by Victor Vernicos, who failed to advance past the semifinals after scoring just 14 points, 12 of which came from Cyprus. The ERT’s choice issue is currently before the courts because Melissa Mantzoukis’ side considered that the rules of the procedure were broken and that she should ordinarily have won. In the coming year, a decision is anticipated.

Melissa Mantzoukis made the decision to try her luck in Germany by competing in the national final, which will be held on February 16, in order to put all that behind and follow her dream of competing in the Eurovision contest. Our information indicates that the entry she submitted has nothing to do with her participation in this year’s ERT internal selection procedure.

Greece: In May, the final resolution of the dispute between Melissa and ERT!

In view of the lack of an insurance right, in connection with the suffocating time frames, the court decided not to grant a temporary injunction and that Melissa Mantzoukis’ dispute with ERT be resolved in May in the regular action.

What has actually happened is that a temporary solution to the dispute cannot be given, due to the deadlines that no longer exist. Therefore, it was not possible to grant the side of Melissa Mantzoukis a temporary injunction and the solution to the issue that has arisen will be given by the regular court in May with the lawsuit.

This practically means that there is no longer any issue with the Greek participation, since any decision that will justify or not Melissa Mantzoukis will be issued after the end of the competition.

Greece: Melissa Mantzoukis’ application for a temporary injunction was discussed!

Melissa Mantzoukis’ application for a temporary injunction against ERT’s selection process for the Greek entry in the Eurovision song contest was discussed today at the Multi-Member Court of First Instance of Athens. The court’s decision is expected on Monday, March 6.

In the trial, PANIK Records also appeared as an intervener, through the lawyer’s proxy, while ERT also announced a trial on the side of Viktor Vernikos, so that he too (through his parents, since he is not an adult), could participate in the case as a party.

As we saw on Melissa’s social media, the singer was this morning in Evelpidon, after appearing in court herself.

With the decision of the temporary injunction, the date of the discussion of the interim measures will be set. We remind you that Melissa Mantzoukis has also filed a lawsuit, which will be discussed in mid-May, with which she requests that she be declared the winner of the ERT selection process and, in addition, be paid an amount as compensation for moral damage.

BREAKING NEWS: Within the week, Melissa Mantzoukis will proceed with all legal means against ERT

A while ago, the lawyer of Melissa Mantzoukis, Christos Zotiadis, was invited to a morning show on the Greek Broadcaster “SKAI”.

Initially, he mentioned that the following week Melissa will proceed with all legal actions against ERT about the selection process regarding Greece’s representative for Eurovision 2023. Due to unstable connection with the show, he only referred to Maria’s Kozakou interview, thanking her about the confession regarding the procedure of the jury voting. ERT had mentioned via extrajudicial document to Melissa earlier that the voting was held as it was announced.

 

Based on what Maria Kozakou has told, the points of the expert jury isn’t equal to 49,4% … They would have given the gold, silver and bronze metal to whoever they wanted. How is possible that among three contestants, one of them gets ranked fifth?

 

Christos Zotiadis thinks that everything Maria Kozakou has told is the reason that ERT has not announced the detailed results of the expert jury despite his persistent requests. Nevertheless, ERT continues not to respond with the detailed results, but mentioning that the voting proceedings are available for pickup.

Maria Kozakou (a member of the expert jury of ERT for the selection process) in her interview mentioned that:

Liar, the song that didn’t manage to go to Eurovision, in the last voting procedure didn’t get 8 points from the seven jurors. As people think, in the last jury voting among the 3 songs, we invited them for an interview and they presented us their ideas about their vision regarding their stage presence in Liverpool…Why didn’t we give 12, 10 and 8 points?  The demoscopic jury ranked the songs from 4 to 12 points, so we had the same amount of points to give as the demoscopic jury. Finally, some songs got 12 points, some 10 and others 6 points. That why the last place didn’t concentrate the minimal points, this is simple mathematics…

Greece: These are the detailed results of the two juries for Eurovision 2023!

The official detailed results of Greek selection for Eurovision 2023 have been published in a TV Moring show, “Super Katerina” by the laywer of one of the finalists, Melissa’s Mantzouki.

The ERT jury decided on the top three and held meetings with the team of the three artists about their perfomance, video clip ideas and promotion of the song. After that, the jury submitted their final vote on the three songs.

On the other hand, we remind you that the demographic jury, 70 people who where drawn among 3.000, voted between the 7 songs. 25 of the members were at the age group of 18-24, 20 at the agre group 25-34, 15 members in the group 35-44 and just 10 members on the age group of 45+.

The ERT jury who voted is:

  • Δημήτρης Παπαδημητρίου, music composer – Presented
  • Μαρία Κοζάκου, commentator of Greek Deligation
  • Φώτης Απέργης, ERT radio director
  • Πέτρος Αδάμ, music producer
  • Γιάννης Πετρίδης, music producer
  • Κωνσταντίνος Μπουρούνης, responsible for ERT youth programms
  • Λεωνίδας Αντωνόπουλος, journalist and music composer

The votes of Greek demographic jury among the three contestants were the 50,6% of the results, while the other 49,4% was determined by the Jury voting.

The final results are:

Demographic Public Jury of 70 people:

  1. Melissa Mantzoukis– Liar 693 votes
  2. Victor Vernicos– What they say 509 votes
  3. Maria Maragkou and Antonia Kaouri– Shout out 341 votes

ERT Jury:

  1. Victor Vernicos– What they say 740 votes
  2. Maria Maragkou and Antonia Kaouri– Shout out 720 votes
  3. Melissa Mantzoukis– Liar 440 votes

Combined final resutls

  1. Victor Vernicos– What they say 1.249 votes
  2. Melissa Mantzoukis– Liar 1.133 votes
  3. Maria Maragkou and Antonia Kaouri– Shout out 1.061 votes

Combining the results of the two juries, the winner is 16 years old Victor Vernicos with his emotional ballad “What they say“.

As you have noticed, Liar won the public jury voting with a big difference, as she had an average score of 9.9, while Victor had 7,27 and the duet only 4,87. On the other hand, ERT jury gave Victor an average score of 10,57, the duet a score of 10,28 and Melissa just a 6,28.

The winner was decided due to the big difference of the last place of “Liar” by the ERT Jury. We remind you that both the 70 people that voted and also the ERT Jury voted with the Eurovision sytem (12,10,8).

BREAKING NEWS: Melissa Mantzoukis’ submission to ERT “Liar” got leaked!

The Greek Public Broadcaster ERT announced a few days ago that three songs are shortlisted to represent Greece in Eurovision 2023, after the vote of a jury of audience members and a jury of music professionals.

One of the three candidate entries, the song “Shout it Out” by Antonia Kaouri & Maria Maragkou was leaked on Twitter, publishing a one minute video of the song. Earlier today, another song leaked, this time being a short snippet of “What They Say” by Victor Vernicos.

Moments ago, the third shortlisted entry called “Liar” by Melissa Mantzoukis, was also published. The twitter account that leaked “Shout it Out”, published the following snippet of “Liar”:

 

We remind you that “Liar” was the song that got the first place in the vote of the audience jury.

It’s the final countdown: One of them will represent Greece at Eurovision 2023!

Female, male or duet will be the Greek representative at Eurovision 2023. All options remain on the table, but only three specific artists, or rather four – since we also have a duet among the final shortlist, continue to hope and dream that they will lift the Greek flag in Liverpool.

Through the ERT1 show, Proian Se Eidon Tin Mesimvrian, Fotis Sergoulopoulos and Jenny Melita announced the three artists who have stood out from the combined voting of the audience committee and the artistic committee. So they are in alphabetical order:

Antonia Kaouri & Maria Maragou – Shout Out (uptempo pop/rock)
Melissa Mantzoukis – Liar (pop dance)
Victor Vernicos – What They Say (midtempo festival ballad)

The artistic committee of ERT, after completing the meetings with the above artists and their groups, in order to get to know them in person, but also to be informed about their plans for the stage presentation, the video clip and the promotion of their song abroad, will give their final score, which combined with the vote of the audience committee will determine the artist who will represent Greece in the 67th Eurovision Song Contest.

The final announcement is expected next week!

Greece: These are the results of the vote of the Audience Jury!

Yesterday, Wednesday 28/12, the 70 members of the Audience Jury heard for the first time the 7 candidate songs of ERT for Eurovision 2023. In a well-organized process by all accounts, we also have a first fairly reliable picture of the voting results. Eurovisionfun having contacted many of the committee members, but also from social media posts, related forums and groups dealing with the Eurovision contest, we are able to reveal to you the results of the voting.

So, based on all the above, the three songs that are leading in the Audience Jury’s rating are the following:

  • Melissa Mantzoukis – Liar
  • Klavdia – Holy Water
  • Victor Vernicos – What they say

We may not know the exact order of the above three songs, but without any doubt they are the three songs that the Audience Committee singled out and were first in their preferences.

On the other hand, the three songs that seem to be in the last three places of preference of the Audience Committee are the following:

  • Monika – I’m Proud
  • Konstantina Iosifidou – We’re young
  • Antonia Kaouri & Maria Maragou – Shout out

Right in the middle of the preferences, it seems, is the participation of Leon of Athens – Somewhere to go.

Similar results to those of the Audience Committee were also given by our readers, where with more than 2,000 different votes, they have approximately the same ranking in their preferences. You can see the results of our Poll HERE.

We remind you that the vote of the Audience Jury constitutes 50.6% of the final result, with 49.4% determined by the seven-member jury of ERT.

Immediately after the New Year, the artists and their groups will meet the artistic committee and the management of ERT in separate appointments, in order to present their plans for the stage appearance, the promotion of the song, etc., if they are selected. The artistic committee will then give their own score, where combined with the score of the Audience Committee, they will determine the artist and the song that will represent Greece in Liverpool. The announcement is expected by mid-January.

The titles of the 7 shortlisted songs have been announced today by the Greek Public Broadcaster ERT. One of these will represent Greece at Eurovision 2023.

Greece: The 7 artists of ERT’s shortlist have been revealed!

The Greek entry for Eurovision 2023 will be selected by a combined vote of a demoscopic jury counting for 50,6% and a professional jury counting for 49,4%, a voting pattern similar to the new system which was announced a few months ago by EBU, to be used at the Grand Final of Eurovision 2023.
