Greece: No proposal has been officially submitted to ERT yet!

It is known that in Greece we are last minute people and this is absolutely true in the case of Eurovision! According to our exclusive and secure information, no proposal has been officially submitted to ERT, for the claim of the Greek representation in the 66th Eurovision Song Contest. This practically means that all interested parties have only one week at their disposal to submit their proposal.

We may already know the potential Greek representatives for the upcoming contest that will be held next May in Italy, we may already have their statements, but so far none of them has submitted his/her song, but also their complete proposal, at the ERT’s headquarters.

Of course, several of them have contacted ERT, asking for clarifications on the process, how to submit their proposal, etc.

The recording studios have literally caught fire, as all the candidates put the finishing touches on the songs they will submit, all hoping that they will impress the jury, which will later be invited to choose the one who will defend the Greek colors at Eurovision 2022.

The ERT team that deals with the project, with of course the prominent director of Corporate Communications Dora Chiraki, is completely satisfied with the level of the artists, but also with the increased interest from the media, production companies, record companies, etc.

What also remains to be decided is the exact way of choosing the artist and the song. As we have written in our previous articles, a jury headed by the composer and member of the Board of ERT, Dimitris Papadimitriou, will be responsible for the selection. What is being considered is for this committee to be more extensive than the corresponding committees of previous years.

The developments as you realize in the coming days will be enough and we will be here to inform you about everything regarding the selection of the Greek entry in Eurovision 2022.

Cyprus: Through a talent show the representative at Eurovision 2023!

Literally a bomb is what was revealed by the CEO of PANIK Records, G. Arsenakos. According to what he mentions in his interview with Esquire magazine, PANIK and RIK have agreed on a new talent show, through which the representative in Eurovision 2023 will emerge!

Although we still do not have any official information about the Cypriot representation in Eurovision 2022, we recently learned the procedure that RIK will follow for the selection of the artist in Eurovision 2023!

I can say that we as Panik have talked to RIK, the state channel of Cyprus, and we will take over the representation of the country in Eurovision in 2023. So whoever wins in the new talent show, which we are preparing, will represent Cyprus in Eurovision in 2023. I consider it a very strong prize, which will bring very good entries.

PANIK’s cooperation with RIK seems to be strengthening and will continue in the contest, for at least two more years.

We are looking forward to the developments for the Cypriot participation in both Eurovision 2022 and in this ambitious new project.

Stay tuned to Eurovisionfun for all the news regarding the Cypriot participation in our favorite song contest!

Poland: TVP opens submissions for internal selection!

Poland starts the process of selecting the artist who will represent her at Eurovision 2022 and wants to put an end to the negative streak of three non-qualifications in the last three contests and return to the final for the first time since 2017, and Kasia Moś.

Polish broadcaster, TVP, will follow the same recipe for a second consecutive year and third in the last four years. As it happened last year, so this year, the singer who will compete in the 66th Eurovision will emerge through internal selection.

Both the song and the artist will be selected by internal selection, with TVP executives aiming to a return in the Grand Final and positive results. Let’s not forget that the state of Eastern Europe has only three placements in the Top 10 in 24 entries.

In today’s announcement, TVP called on all interested parties to submit their proposals for the representation of Poland next May in Italy. Those interested have a deadline of two months until 22:00 on the night of November 20 to send an email to eurowizja@tvp.pl and submit their proposal.

The artist who will represent Poland at Eurovision 2022 will be announced on January 2, as typically mentioned in the regulations published by TVP.

Poland was represented in Rotterdam by Rafal, with the song The Ride, but failed to qualify for the final. His choice was a bit of a last minute, as Polish public television had taken over the organization of Junior Eurovision 2020 and had turned all its attention there.

Let’s see if the fact that for 2022 the search for their participation in the competition will start early, will bring a better result.

Will Ladilla Rusa represent Spain at Eurovision?

Ladilla Rusa (Spanish for Russian pubic louse) are a music duo.  They want to represent Spain in Eurovision 2022 and have already written their song.  Although the band started as a comedy act, they are taking this participation very seriously.  In August 5, Tania Lozano from Ladilla Rusa took Twitter to announce her group had just “written a hit for Eurovision”.  They even captioned their video stating “this is not a joke”.

If Ladilla Rusa wants to represent Spain in Italy, their song has to compete at the Benidorm Festival.  RTVE decided to bring back the Benidorm Festival as their national selection.

Who Are Ladilla Rusa?

Tania Lozano and Víctor Clares make Ladilla Rusa.  They are both journalists and created the group initially “as a joke”.  However, they continued their project after a positive reception from the public.  Their songs have been viral on Spotify in their home country.  Not only that, they already have more than 58000 subscribers on YouTube.

The music duo mixes electropop with traditional music.  Their lyrics are satirical and talk about trivial subjects such as partying or having a hangover but they also have elements of social critique in their work.

Ladilla Rusa is not completely strange to Eurovision.  They recently collaborated with Ruth Lorenzo (Spain 2014) in their single Todos los días lo mismo

Vengaboys to represent the UK at Eurovision

Dutch Eurodance group Vengaboys have offered themselves to represent the UK next year for Eurovision.  The Rotterdam band peaked to fame in the 90s with singles Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!! and We’re Going to Ibiza that top the charts in the UK and Europe.

In a recent interview, the band said they watch this year’s Eurovision.  According to lead singer Robin Pors, it was unfair that the UK received no points.  James Newman represented the UK in Rotterdam with the song Embers finishing last.

“I was so embarrassed because the UK was really good.  The song was nice and the singer was nice but they were like, ‘Whatever, zero points.’ How was that even possible?

The Vengaboys are currently promoting their single 1999 (I Wanna Go Back), a cover of Charlie XCX and Troye Sivan single.

However, it is not known yet what will be the BBC selection process for their 2022 Eurovision representative.  The Eurovision Song Contest 2022 will take place in Italy in May 2022.
